  1. Yes, the night service consultation does not apply to these services as it is to do with main line services on the route to Brighton, so it is important to respond to this consultation as it stands. These trains the 2301 and 2334 London Bridge - Crystal Palace via East Dulwich will not run and will not be replaced.
  2. The GTR/Southern/Thameslink December 2018 timetable consultation closes next week see https://www.transformingrail.com/timetables?origin=LBG&destination=EDW&hour=23&minute=15 on the 27th July 2017. The details suggests the trains services from London Bridge will be cut by half after 2200 hours and all trains after 2314 withdrawn altogether. If you object to this please respond to the consultation asap
  3. For those of you who have Annual Season Ticket Travelcards on Oyster please read this press release from London TravelWatch on how to go about getting compensation for last years poor service on the Southern route into London Bridge: http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/news/view?id=636&x[0]=news/list
  4. No you are not mistaken. Best advice is to think about alternative train operators, buses or cycling
  5. The Thameslink / Southeastern service is being revised from Bank Holiday Monday in August as the latest piece in the London Bridge story - but it means the extra services that Southeastern ran into Blackfriars from Denmark Hill will cease. So the train from Denmark Hill to Blackfriars will be 0804, 0819, 0826, 0839 and 0845. See http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/3828.aspx . Hope that helps with your planning - the 40 bus has nice new buses now and i think the 185 will get them very soon as well.
  6. If you responded to the consultation about staffing changes at Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham stations earlier this year you will be interested to see this: http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/news/view?id=596&x[0]=news/list ? Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond.
  7. Of interest London Overground services on the East London Line were improved in the late evenings and weekends from last Sunday (15th) so that trains run every 15 minutes on the route via Peckham Rye until around 2330 instead of every 30 minutes after 2200. One caveat there is still a 30 minute gap to / from Clapham Junction as one train in the 15 minute cycle goes to and from Battersea Park to fulfill a 'Parliamentary train' requirement - still serves all the other stations though and their connections to and from Clapham Junction at Battersea Park. This improvement was prompted by 2014 research by London TravelWatch. http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/documents/get_lob?id=3896&field=file Encourage everyone to attend the meeting on Saturday.
  8. The official consultation has now started. Please go to http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/news/view?id=581&x[0]=news/list for details on how to respond.
  9. http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/news/view?id=562&x[0]=news/list is a new piece of research showing how travel costs are really hitting people on low incomes and how important buses are to them to finding and getting to and from work.
  10. Not happy with the 12? This saturday (5/9/15) Camberwell bus garage (round the corner from Camberwell Green) has an open day from 1100 to 1500. Alternatively why not sign up with the on line bus community at http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/join_london_bus_users_online_community ?
  11. Not in East Dulwich, but if you are a driver or bus passenger you might wish to avoid Crystal Palace for the next Four weeks starting on Tuesday (21st July) Basically the A212 Church Road is closed to replace a water main. The buses will be on diversion as follows:- 249 towards Anerley Station no change 249 towards Clapham Common diverted from Anerley Station, via Anerley Road, Croydon Road, Penge Road, South Norwood High Street, South Norwood Hill to Beulah Hill i.e no service Crystal Palace Station, Crystal Palace town centre to Church Road and Beulah Hill 322 towards Crystal Palace no change 322 towards Clapham Common diverted via Crystal Palace Parade, College Road, Dulwich Wood Park to Salters Hill Road. 417 and Night N137 towards Crystal Palace no change 417 and Night N137 towards Clapham Common / Oxford Circus diverted via Crystal Palace Parade, College Road, Dulwich Wood Park, Gipsy Hill to Central Hill. 432 and Night N2 towards Crystal Palace and Anerley Station no change 432 and Night N2 towards Brixton and Trafalgar Square diverted via Crystal Palace Parade, College Road, Dulwich Wood Park, Gipsy Hill to Central Hill. 450 towards Lower Sydenham no change 450 towards West Croydon diverted via Anerley Hill, Anerley Road, Hamlet Road, Maberley Road, Sylvan Road, Sylvan Hill, Church Road to Westow Street. The diversions of the 249 and 450 are particularly onerous and will affect the ability to shop in Crystal Palace. CPTT tried to persuade TfL to do something less disruptive but they have declined. If you are unhappy about these changes or find that your journey is particularly badly affected please contact TfL on the link below and if enough people complain may be they will change their minds. custserv.tfl.gov.uk CUSTSERV.TFL.GOV.UK
  12. A new scheme has been set up to allow disabled rail passengers to 'turn up and go' rather than having to pre-book assistance http://www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk/news-features/london_turn_up__go_trial . It is a trial and allows travel from East Dulwich to West Norwood. It supplements the existing permanent 'turn up and go' arrangements on London Overground and London Underground. However, without usage and feedback the rail operators could withdraw at the end of the trial. Please encourage people to use it so that this doesn't happen.
  13. A new online bus community has been set up by London TravelWatch here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LondonBusWatch - it enables you to get alerts on issues affecting your local bus route.
  14. London Travelwatch are currently consulting the public on London Underground?s proposals to close their station ticket offices. Please visit http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/tubeconsultation and fill out the survey before 28th September 2014.
