  1. We used Chris Kendall Associates recently when wanting to remove an internal wall in our home .Chris did the visit and report himself , he was polite , punctual , very very knowlegable with lots of experience and competatively priced. I have no hesitation in recommending him , his contact details are [email protected] , 02082445817 .
  2. Just had our bathroom fully refurbed including wall removal by Michael greczynski of SE23 bathrooms , plenty of pictures of his work on the website . Really good team working with him , clean , reliable and knowlegable , we're really happy with the results and very happy to recommend him. phone number for him is 07912674343
  3. Happy to add another recommendation for Andy who came and put two curtain poles and a blind up at our house . He was friendly , polite and easy to communicate with and contact . He did the required jobs to a high standard taking time and trouble to make sure everything was perfect , he was a neat and tidy worker even hoovering up the mess created by drilling into the walls once he'd finished . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family .
  4. Very happy to highly recommend David and Patrick from Norwood roofing ,who came and fixed a troubling roof leak at our home . They took time and trouble to effectively investigate and diagnose the problem , which they fully explained to us then provided a competitive quote very quickly . When they arrived to complete the work they were here exactly when they said they would be and proceeded to get on with the job in a very professional manner. Both David and Patrick were polite , extremely tidy and more importantly fixed the leak , even providing photos of the work to show exactly what had been achieved . It has been very refreshing to have such hard working knowledgeable people at our home , who not only solved the problem , but more importantly kept to their word and arrived promptly at the agreed time. We will definitely be using their services again and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
  5. Hi , I currently have a son in year 7 at Harris boys and we couldn't be happier with the school so far . Our son is quite a shy introverted boy ,but has truly blossomed at the school , he has made many new friends and actually really enjoys going to school each day ( something which I couldn't guarantee at primary school) . The small class sizes are great for him , and communication between home and school is excellent . He has enthusiastic , committed teachers who are happy to respond to any email queries that we feel we need to send . It may be worth mentioning that we also have an older son currently in the sixth form at Forest Hill Boys ( Harris built too late to consider for him )but he has been at FHS all the way from year 7. We chose Harris for our younger son as felt it was a better fit size wise and small class wise . However we have not encountered any huge differences between the schools so far and feel really lucky that we are in an area where we had the choice to use two different schools. As I say our son is very happy there and with the termly reports and assessment grades continuing to improve , we know that he is also making great progress.
  6. I have a son currently in year 7 at Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich , I also have an older son at forest Hill School,in my experience both schools have a fairly equal mix of cultures and ethnicity. My boys are white , but both have friends of different colours and as young men growing up in London I am more than happy for them to have a good range of friends from different cultures . I feel this is good grounding for their futures in accepting everybody. I have never experienced any feelings when visiting either school of unease that my boys would somehow be outnumbered , if anything it was a pleasant surprise to find that things were so evenly balanced. Could I maybe suggest to Melonsmasher visiting HBAED and seeing for yourself , I think you will find a very well run school striving to give all their boys the best education that they can and embrace the full diversity of students who attend .You may also see that the school has just been awarded an Equality Award , which backs their ethos that they will provide the same level of education regardless of race , culture , disability, age , religious belief or sexuality. This can only be beneficial to all boys who attend , in being in a daily environment where they can accept each other.I have many friends who live outside of London who are quite envious that my boys have such a diverse mixture of schoolfriends , as their children go to schools which have high numbers of white children . As I say I feel that my boys have the best of both worlds , and I in no way worry at all about them being in the minority as that simply isn't true in my experience .
  7. My now 16 year old ( NON statemented ) Asperger son is at Forest Hill School in the sixth form , but has been at the school all the way through from since year 7 .Best decision we ever made , although it's a big school he has absolutely thrived there. Great pastoral support and SEN dept , very willing to adapt and tweak things to accommodate his little foibles !! He surpassed our expectations and passed all ten of his GCSE exams in the summer with really good grades ( we were so worried that the change in routine and exam stress would have a big effect). However The teachers and support staff were constantly on hand to lend a supportive hand to him if he needed it , or give him a verbal hug where necessary. Also have a couple of friends with Asperger boys at Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich , who are extremely happy with the support their sons receive , advantage there is its a much smaller school so less overwhelming ,but wasn't an option for us as wasn't even built when we were looking for our son. Best piece of advice I can give you is , look at all schools more than once , make an appointment with the SENCO separately to discuss specific needs and see if they can accommodate them . You will find that ( in my experience ) secondary schools tend to have more staff with a broader experience base of special needs than a primary school , so will usually understand things very well. Last but not least ask plenty of questions , take a list with you , they will understand how important this decision is for you . Good Luck !!
