  1. We have just received the keys to our new house and are pleased as punch. This is the third build project we?ve done and it has been soooooo different from the other two! All down to our fantastic builder Paul. He?s been so great that I wanted to give him a plug on here: - best value of the three quotes we got - stuck to his labour quote - no hidden costs or trying to renegotiate later on - polite, respectful, trustworthy - provided meticulous materials receipts so we could see exactly what he spent on our behalf - always quick to suggest a good solution when we encountered issues - a team of really polite guys on site. Never a single issue with mess, noise etc - immaculate finish: huge attention to detail Happy to chat if you PM me or just get on the phone to Paul direct to get him to quote for your job... 07947 842283 His company is PSC Builders Ltd.
  2. Yes - lovely chap. He and his partner Cliff were very helpful and did a great job fixing my new kitchen tap and sorting out a problem shower. Highly recommended! Jon trades under "East Dulwich Plumber" 07590316924 [email protected]
  3. And yet another recommendation for Martin! He spent four days here this week building us a really amazing patio (circular brick pattern) with real attention to detail and taking obvious pride in his work. He's an artist! He also laid us a new lawn and re-landscaped our front step/drive in that time. He is a lovely person to work with - reliable, straightforward and, above all, a really nice bloke. The only downside is that he's so good he is booked up for months! But do let him quote for you as he managed to squeeze us in much sooner than we expected. Contact him on: [email protected], 07514 045 390
  4. Sorry! Posted in wrong place and now I can't figure out how to delete it!
  5. I bought this off the Forum but my son is huge and has outgrown it sooner than expected so I've lovingly hand-washed the mattress and machine laundered the rest of it and am now looking to pass it on. The cover is in great condition - I covered it with little Ikea fitted towels which I'll include so you have some spare covers. Collection from Upland Road, SE22. They are ?110 new. To get a better sense of how it works, look at: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sleepyhead-Deluxe-Months-Pristine-White/dp/B00ACK676E/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1498052532&sr=1-2&keywords=sleepyhead+deluxe Katherine
  6. I'm swapping my back door for a window and need someone to build me a 900x900mm brick wall. Anyone with bricklaying experience interested in quoting? Please PM me. I have the bricks but not the cement. Thanks
  7. They now charge ?16 per pick up - disappointingly.
  8. Terry has just completed a job for me. Was polite, friendly and communicated with me clearly. He was happy to come back a few times until everything was exactly how I wanted it. Nice guy.
  9. I need help with an ironing backlog - anyone who wants three hours work in central East Dulwich tomorrow, please get in touch!
  10. For Tues April 7th we're reading the new Murakami, with the (not very catchy) title: Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. We need new quiz brains! So join us!
  11. We're reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and will be meeting in the Clockhouse on Mon 10 Nov to chat about it. Newcomers welcome. Katherine
  12. We're starting a new book group and will be meeting up next Tuesday evening to chat about the first book: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi. We'll then be figuring out what to read next so come along and help us choose. PM if you want details of where we're meeting.
  13. Just wanted to voice support for natalieljackson's post. I think a separate section just for babysitters, childminders and nannies would be a real help: both for people wanting childcare AND the people who want to buy and sell kiddie stuff and have to wade through a million nanny posts. Also wanted to tell you - Administrator - that I think this site is awesome and that you're doing an amazing job for creating a sense of community in this area. It makes me feel really differently about this area and gives me a great way to get the lowdown on what's going on locally, helping me to connect. And, as a sustainability consultant, I am delighted to see so many people sharing, recycling and giving unwanted things away! Well done you.
  14. I can second that! Jim Cox is an excellent carpet fitter and a lovely bloke. He did my whole upstairs and then a lovely stripy carpet runner. He even left me a few ready-cut strips of stair carpet so I can swap one out if I accidentally damage it. He helped me find the right carpets at the right price and did all the ordering and storing. He's clearly in demand so get the work booked in asap!
  15. Thanks so much to everyone who's given us advice - much appreciated. And thanks in particular to Burbage for the link to the RICS document. Helps knowing exactly how mortgage valuers think about the issue. Had a meeting with the council today and they are now developing a business case to fund its removal. It's breaking up the concrete at the foot of our block (we're up on the top floor) so I hope, as freeholders, that this is a pretty compelling business case all by itself!
