  1. Another recommendation from us Pearce & Sons. Even though I booked them for 2, they explained that 1 didn't need doing. They were great with my 3yo as well, who still talks about them! Honest, hard working, no nonsense, good value. Highly recommended.
  2. We had it done fairly recently and it cost ?180, but we were moving from one end of a room to another, so perhaps that added to the cost. I think it will depend on the piping too, but it should be a fairly straight forward job, ie 1-2 hours. I'd call Maurice (lots of rec's on here). The job I mentioned above wasn't done by him, as we were having some boiler work done at the ssme time too, which he doesn't do, but he's been great for us on several occasions.
  3. Beadles in Bromley is the closest. Can't remember exactly but for about ?15-?20 they'll pick up and drop off.
  4. As a former pizza delivery driver the first thing I was told was you either come back with the pizza or the money, so I doubt it! Well done to the OP for helping him. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Blimey, tough gig delivering pizzas. > Out of interest did he leave you some pizza?
  5. Liz, How'd you go with this? Veru curious as we have an identical job.
  6. Alan is great. Helped us out on a few occasions and always very reasonable and quick to respond.
  7. Tony Pooley is great. Did a very similar job for us a few years ago to the one you're describing. We've recently moved and will be getting him around to our new place when settled. Details below....... [email protected] 07931549144
  8. Jeremy, pretty sure that's Ali Baba (juice stall formerly in the alley off rye lane) opening up a juice/cocktail bar. http://www.babaworld.co.uk/vacancies/ Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nigello Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > A new pizzeria, brought to you by the Peddler > > people, will be opening in a fortnight on > > Bellenden Road > > Oh good... hadn't heard any news for a while so > wasn't sure if that was still going ahead. 9. To be honest, not sure you'll find what you're looking for on LL. Brickhouse is usually pretty reliable and French House (not sure what time it's open) can be good too. As mentioned previously if you're willing to venture slightly further afield, Old Spike in Peckham and St David's in Forest Hill are both excellent.
  10. Another recommendation. We recently moved into a new place and the garden had become overrun. She did a great job cleaning it up!
  11. Hi, Hoping to get some thoughts on how others dealt with this problem. My wife is currently on maternity leave, but after the summer will be back at work. We've found a nursery that we like for both our children closer to home (we recently moved and our son is currently at a different one),but it's going to be difficult to get them there and in to work on time. Neither of us work in jobs where the employer can be flexible with start times. We'd need someone to help us 3 days a week to come and help kid the kids ready at 7am then drop them off at nursery. Would be an hour to an hour and a half each day. Are there nannies that do this type of work?
  12. Collecting and have quite a few swaps. During the World Cup the Old Nun's Head had a swap night and it was great, with plenty of people although maybe more interest with the World Cup ones. If there's enough interest, perhaps we could organise another one somewhere?
  13. Loz, the above isn't completely true. Tepilo and others do all the conveyancing chasing up buyers etc. It's not left to you to chase up. I have no idea how good they are though. Think some are better than others. Yes you have to show buyers around, but for me this was positive. Firstly we had young kids so it was difficult constantly being out of the house. We quite enjoyed conducting the viewings as you're able to answer any questions about the house, local amenities, why you're moving, when the boiler was replaced, where to park, who lives upstairs, what's the best pub in walking distance, transport etc. We had someone view our flat, who said they weren't so keen on the location because of needing to get to X for work. I worked around the corner so was able to explain the best route and other options they hadn't even thought about. A lot of buyers asked about the neighbours, bus routes, school catchment areas etc, and most agents (barring no flies) would have no idea about this stuff.
