  1. There is also a fair size M&S food in Kings- how many do we need?
  2. The red and white van outside goose green playground is selling sour icecream. We just took ours back and a bloke near by said he had returned a rotten one 15mins before.
  3. I worked at GOSH for 17 years and I can honestly say I never saw a child they could have done more for. The problem tends to be that the child is pushed too far, just so the parents know everything that could be done, was. No one has rights over any child, only responsibilities, and sometimes the best thing to do is to prevent further suffering.
  4. Knowing your neighbors and having a relationship takes effort. Our block is about 10yrs old, and I've always made a point of stopping to talk to my neighbors, and I like to know who lives on each floor as it helps to spot someone who shouldn't be here (intruders, not unwanted neighbors). Some friendliness is a bit forced, we have a Facebook group to share issues but also good stuff, like videos about how to reach outside windows for cleaning, and we share pictures of our balconies as a kind of virtual open balconies project. it's worth it to have people near by who will recognise your kids or help you out when needed. Consequently if there is ever a break in here I'm sure to be top suspect as I seem to be everyone's go to person to leave a spare key.
  5. Poor things, very scary. Were they really as old as 60? Just remember when I was a teenager I thought 30 was very old. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
  6. We saw it too, it was a streak, almost like something the red arrows would leave, but perpendicular. No idea what it was, but you are not going mad

  8. I'm disappointed with the Peckham one as the previous cafe had great coffee and a great breakfast (veggie sausage sarnie was my particular fave). However, in Dulwich I'm happy about the change. The previous place was so disorganised and the food was pretty poor. I was able to walk to the picture gallery for a coffee and walk back to the cafe in the time it took my husband to get to the front of the queue. Both are over priced though.

Can I second that? There is an important message buried here somewhere
  10. I watched a refuse worker (?street sweeper) going through the bin sheds on the dog kennel hill eastate. He seemed to be picking through what was there but chucked a good deal of it on the pavement and then moved on.

People seem to think > it's still the little old lady model though...... I was once a 'chugger' for one of the larger companies. It wasn't like this at all. We had hours of training about the charities we would collect for, and were specifically to try to ensure anyone we spoke to left us feeling good about the work being done, weather they chose to give or not. We were an opportunity for people to commit to a charity, but loved to find out about the other causes people supported. Re payment: the company were paid a fixed sum by the charity in exchange for a certain number of new supporters, no matter how quick or long it took us. If the supporter pledged less than ?3 a month, we didn't count them in our total (so a 'freebee' for the charity). Most supporters carried on supporting for around 9 years. As a worker 'on the ground' I was paid a good hourly rate, but no commission or anything like that. Charities need to budget and plan, and pledging a monthly donation allows them to do that.
  12. So I'll still have to go to the Sainsburys local for my 6am can of cider? Balls
  13. Yes but why is it that colour? It changed suddenly a while back and looks bizarre
  14. I would love an outdoor heated pool, and a swimming pond for wild swimming would be awesome. I love swimming outside, even in cold weather, but a heated pool would be a real draw. I can't get to swim in any of the local pools on a weekday as the open sessions are so few. Currently I travel to the big pool in crystal palace park
  15. I personally wouldn't bother. Kings offer good antenatal classes for free and we met people there. Also there are lots of groups at children's centres etc for meeting people. My midwifery group also offered a class of their own and there were home birth groups to attend too, and kings still had the breast feeding workshop (legendary)when I had my first, but don't know if it's still running? so loads of free opportunities. The ED forum has groups for people expecting and I dare say it is easy enough to meet up with those people. Keep your money:)
  16. Can we lump vomit in with this? Dom Kennel Hill (especially around the bus stops) is covered with it over the weekends. Disgusting. My toddler put his hand in some once as it was over a wall! Please puke in the gutter if you need to.
  17. Love the paint shop- Colour makes people happy, on the Vale because the man is so friendly. On lordship lane though I love all the pretty places with fancy/ smart bits for homes, but Farmers comes out as my favourite as it's an Aladin's cave of stuff you never knew you needed until you saw it.

  19. I used the hypnobirth CDs which were great, and had a fantastic birth using the techniques. Didn't bother with n t as Kings had 3 antenatal sessions (we kept in touch and met up) and a day breast feeding workshop where I met my best friend (does this still run? It was legendary). Good luck
  20. We have borrowed a car for a few months and my daughter (4) gets very sick in it, and often refuses to get in. The thing that really helps her every time are the sea bands I used for morning sickness. They are a little strap to wear on the wrist and she gently presses the stud on them and is never sick or nauseous. We still have to have sick bags etc because she is an awkward sod and won't always put the band on.
  21. Don't mean to offend with the face wash advice, just mean to say give yourself the best makeup base possible;)
  22. Treat yourself to good skin care first. Elizabeth Arden have a nice hot cloth polish face wash. I use neals yard but with the same hot cloth method which is probably the winning ingredient. Good moisurising- whatever suits you. With this hopefully you will get the best out of whatever makeup you get, then choose what you want to hide/ exsentuate, which may well have changed over the years. I love Benefit, and use bad gal lash, brow pencil, gimme brows, porefessional and dandelion blush. I took convincing to darken my brows but it makes such a difference to my face (you may already have luxuriant dark brows). I second going to try stuff out in Selfridges or John Lewis, and only take what you feel you will have time to do at home. Good luck:)
  23. Use the scooter. My son has loads of pink stuff. Is your husband able to say what he actual concern is? Maybe if he tries to say exactly what his issue is (rather than just insinuating) he might realise how silly this is.
  24. Another vote for the bee- light weight, easily folded, comfy and nippy. Ours did for both kids and I could still get my 6 year old in it on the odd occasion he was sick and I had to take him out.
