I'm not deliberately "replying to every one of your posts " !!! What a very strange thing to say! To the best of my knowledge I haven't replied more to your posts than to anyone else's!

I post a lot on this forum.  If you click on my name you can see all my posts.  I have lived in the area since 1991, and I have an interest in what is going on. I've been posting on here almost since the forum started.

I am  retired, apart from promoting and  running music gigs, which takes up a lot of my time, however yes!  I do have many other  things to do! 

I don't know if they are "better" than posting on here.  You post on here! So do many other people! If everyone had "better things to do" there would be no forum!

I am  "out" on here, and always have been. I don't have anything to hide behind a forum name, and I have always gone under my own name. 

You can come and find me any time if you want to address your apparent grievances with me in person.

Edited to add: I have just looked, and apparently you can't see all my posts by clicking on my name.

I'm sure you used to be able to do this, but possibly it changed when the forum was changed, and now you can only see very recent posts and activity. Or possibly I have misremembered.

However, I guess it wouldn't be a very great use of forum space to show my apparently over  twenty thousand posts since 2006. 

I imagine an infinitesimal number of those were replying to posts you had made 🙄

I think we can agree trees are fantastic, beautiful and a welcome part of our environment... the issue occurs as Nigello stated above when they aren't cared for or pruned regularly. When they cause damage to payments and property that isn't right, and unfortunately as trees mature - particularly some varieties - they show that it really isn't practical for them to be planted in close proximity to properties.

I would strongly suspect that anybody with sickness and/or diarrhoea at the moment is very much more likely to have caught norovirus or similar than to have got food poisoning from an ice cream.

Like COVID, one person in the family can easily get it first, and doesn't necessarily pass it on to the others, especially if they take appropriate precautions.

I am very tempted to ask if it was vegan chocolate flavoured ice-cream, but I will resist. Oh, I can't 🤣

Apologies to anyone offended. We've all eaten in this cafe many many times so I've put this down to a one off. Yes obviously kids get sick. Gosh I didn't realise when ED forum became so full of passive aggressive, sarcastic people. Won't be posting again in a hurry - cue the afore mentioned type of replies in response no doubt...

Oh and this incident was most definitely the icecream or person serving it having dirty hands or gloves, as my son was fine after he was sick. So no bug. 

For the avoidance of doubt nobody meant for this to affect any business, so once again apols for mentioning by name. Happy icecream eating everyone.

No the collections were separate, although both funds transferred to his brother, Asif.

My youngest son was violently sick after an icecream today and that was the only thing he ate differently to me or the rest of the family. 

Just trying to work out if it's a bug or down to what he ate...

Council address for reporting very useful 

Council respond very quickly, brilliant. We definitely need more dog poo bins around ED tho, I'm guessing they disappeared due to more cost cutting  

Very interested to see how the legal challenge to LTNs in south London goes in February... spending a long time on a bus in heavy traffic every morning is so frustrating, when surely everyone must by now agree that LTNs and road closures such as Melbourne Grove and some other side roads in East Dulwich serve no useful purpose, and most definitely do not reduce air pollution aside from on the now quieter closed roads.

Apparently one road off Grove Vale should have been reopened for emergency vehicles but remains closed with a planter etc.

I'd love to see statistics of cycle and pedestrian usage of Melbourne Grove, as I know several businesses  on that road have moved (e.g. Callow locksmiths) or closed (secondhand clothes shop and GMs hair salon along with the Greek restaurant) since the LTN was put in place...

I would happily take the task on but sadly the council will keep the responsibility, which I'm fairly sure means within months of them actually putting any useful information up on the boards it will not be kept up to date and will eventually get vandalised and fall out of use.

Wonder when it will actually have anything at all posted as it was mended last year after around 2 years of me (and James Barber supporting) to ask Charlie Smith and other councillors to have it repaired.

I simply feel there are ample inexpensive opportunities for small buisnesses to advertise their services.

 

I'm not disputing that BUT this would also be a very useful place for small businesses to advertise and the last time it was actually in use it had a mix of councillors' contact details (I'm guessing would be in line with you supporting community info being posted there) but also info about give and take sales and also a few small business ads, a whole range really... and now I believe the plan is only to have community group and not for profit group info.

That's my argument really, that we are a mixed area and anything we can do to support local small businesses would also be a good idea.

Anyway I sadly don't have high hopes for this (Northcross Rd) board to be maintained properly or regularly by the local councillors - Monica at Health Matters did her best when it was last in use but even then it had very old info on it aside from local councillors details.

Hope I'm proven wrong.

New refurb is excellent in many ways, nice layout except I don't like facing the free weight section when using the weight machines. All the equipment and spacing is well thought out.

I think they should do more for senior citizens in terms of weekday classes and swim sessions but aside from that it's an excellent leisure centre and I'm really grateful it's on our doorstep.

North Cross Road is a Southwark council licensed market, so does it not have a council employee in charge of it? Someone who arranges pitches and payments etc. If so, surely they would be the person to take responsibility? It only needs somebody to keep it clean and charge the posters regularly.

Perhaps this can be suggested to the Goose Green councillors; it’s not my ward.

Exactly. I complained about them being broken for around 2 YEARS and they were repaired autumn (?) last year but only today when I emailed the councillor did he say he had "just received keys". I have no objection to a mix of community groups etc using the board but surely it should be open to all? Including local businesses, many of whom rely on word of mouth or boards like this - they don't often make much profit so it's great to support local business owners. It's not really my own interest as I am not a business owner... I am just reflecting what I would like to see - that I admit - as per my original post.

p.s. the noticeboards I am talking about are empty - not used by anyone as the councillor has the key! Watch my words. They will be updated yearly if that and the info will go out of date. I've asked Ellie Reeves local MP to contact Thames Water to ask what they're playing at. Now very hazardous for anyone with mobility issues. Ridiculous and dangerous, like a stream running down Lordship lane including the pavement. 

So today after over a year of emailing to get the vandalised noticeboards repaired I emailed our local councillor Charlie Smith only to be told the board will now just have info about tenant associations and other not for profit organisations...

Maybe just my opinion but I always thought the boards were useful for new mums to see baby groups, and for local small businesses to advertise. The demographic in ED surely should mean middle classes get a say as to how these boards are used, not just councillors dictating what will be put on there.. plus I can only think if the council are responsible for keeping the info updated it'll be once a year if we're lucky.

No doubt possibly controversial post but I feel strongly about supporting businesses making a profit as well as not for profits and community groups. Plus there are noticeboards near ED station and other roads closer to estates with tenants associations. Definitely supportive of food banks but you can get that info off here or by ringing the council anyway, plus I assume it'll be posted on the station noticeboard as the Albrighton centre has a food bank.

Lovely service, terrible vegan hot chocolate... shame as I've had pleasant lunch experiences before especially their soups.

I think I am becoming addicted to reporting dog waste and fly tipping - so easy to use, who knows the council might actually put some dog waste bins back up (we used to have one on Ulverscroft Road) and signage to remind careless owners to pick up their dog's mess and put it in a bin - preferably their own bin or a black public one rather than someone's green or blue bin, or leave it on the pavement. So disgusting.

I never knew what happened to Ton Slattery after the brilliant improvisation comedy show Whose line is it anyway? For those old enough you'll remember it was a mix of American and British comedians hosted by Clive (forgotten surname)... just read he sadly developed mental health issues that impacted his ability to work but that he'd had much better last few years and been doing comedy tours again in the UK. His partner is fundraising for the funeral but as he remains special to many who grew up watching that show he's got far more than the original target amount. His partner and he had been together 40 years. Amazing and heartwarming love...
