  1. where can i unlock an iphone 4 from orange to be able to use an 02 sim? peckham rye or ED? thanks
  2. Why do we need a cinema when we've got Peckham Plex?
  3. Thanks everyone I'm going to try and call the doctor tomorrow for some clarification. She mentioned both lactose intolerance and 'milk protein' but after doing some investigating prompted by comments above if she thinks its lactose why would she suggest goats milk if that's got a high lactose content as cows milk. Now quite confused! :)
  4. Thanks everyone - interesting that goats milk is high in lactose! I was advised to avoid soya - as they can develop allergies to this too after a couple of months. Might try almond!
  5. My 14 month son is possibly lactose intolerant and so we have been suggested to cut out cows milk for a few weeks and try an alternative. Alternatives suggested are goats or rice milk Does anyone have any recommendations as to which is better for them (fat nutrients wise) and also which is more convenient to get not just in london but if we are travelling to see friends etc Was loving how easy cows milk was can you pick it up everywhere now having to find an alternative Thanks
  6. The big question is will you be catering for children? locale did it very well - children's menu, high chairs and very welcoming staff. That's how you are going to do well in the area. I know it's not what everyone wants but that's what the area needs to cater for these days
  7. I did a course with Judith Flood at Guys hospital (she has the benefit of midwife experience) and I can really recommend her. I remained at home for 36 hours (had to go to hospital as there were a few complications) but had vontouse delivery with no pain relief http://www.hypnobirthing-london.co.uk/www.hypnobirthing-london.co.uk/Welcome.html
  8. OK so we have a few wobbly balustrades in our stairs which need fixing. Any idea who I would get to fix them?
  9. So were going away in August and have decided to take our own car seat rather than use the hire car company as so many people have said you either don't get one or if you do its old and knackered. So my next question is whether people can recommend a cheap but safe / sturdy Car seat for a 1 yr old that will become our holiday / granparent car seat. Thanks
  10. Does anyone know what easy jets rules are re: buggy and car seats - I'm guessing they probably charge for both!
  11. How big a car do we need? We are going away to Portugal and there will be 5 adults and 1 baby. With 5 suitcases and 1 buggy in the boot. I dont know much about big cars but would a Ford Galaxy be big enough to include our luggage? It will only be two journeys - to and from airport. All other time will just be day trips Or do we need to go for a big mercedes Any advice welcome!
  12. Distance can be key. Depends on where you live but I'm guessing kings is a lot closer. I stuck with kings after my gp pointed out that a) you might go into labour in rush hour b) if your due in winter which I think you are - what if it's snow ! Both the above can make Tommy's feel an awfully long way away And thankfully I stick with kings - my son was in special care for a week and having my husband able to stay but also nip home quickly for clothes etc was a godsend. If I had been at Tommy's I would have felt a long way from home. And home = comfort. I second the above about home birth though (we tried but didn't quite make the home birth) but laboured at home then my midwife came to hospital with us and had rung ahead so the room was booked etc made that bit of it so much easier
  13. I am looking for suggestions for towns in Spain / Portugal - or other countries welcome for a villa holiday in August! We will be needing a big(Ish) villa ith its own pool ideally 4 bed that is within walking distance to town/beach/restaurants. We have a 1 year old boy so I'd prefer to get him to sleep and then walk to the restaurant in his buggy rather than having to put him in a car seat and drive somewhere. We'll stay in some nights but would also like some decent places to go to on the evenings we'd go out Any suggestions of locations that I can start searching the likes of owners direct for would be much appreciated
  14. I found kings were fantastic. I was hoping for a home birth so I hadn't had a tour and was completely in the dark why it would be like. All the staff were lovely,I spent a week on the postnatal ward as my son was in special care and the midwives were always asking after my son - even the ladies serving lunch would keep mine back if I was up on the special care unit and even ordered me something they'd embers I'd had previously when I wasn't there to take my order so I didn't miss out on food! That was a tough week and I think everyone at kings was fantastic to help us through it
  15. Went to book a table at locale a couple of weeks ago for midweek lunch and apparently they only now open for lunch Fri/Sat/Sun
  16. Right Looking for ideas for my sons first birthday Will be inviting mostly people with similar age children but some with no children and mainly too So really somewhere where we can have our own area, get food and drink (not sit down) children can pay / crawl around and I can put some toys down etc Am I dreaming? The new clock house pub has its own room but it's upstairs with some tricky corns to negotiate so I dont think it's fair to invite people there with buggies! Any suggestions by welcome
  17. I was exactly the same My sons birth certhas our married name I Took a copy of marriage cert And his birth certificate and it was fine
  18. Hi Sam No recommendations for Brighton I'm afraid but we recently stayed near Bath at Wooley Gramge which is prt of luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk Fully focused on children - provided cot, nappy bin and changing mat, sterilizer in room on request, children's tea time with high chairs, bibs etc (prob too soon for your little one) a free cr?che, baby sitting and baby listening service for dinner and really friendly staff They have hotels around the country - a little expensive but where isn't these days and we felt v comfortable with our 10 month old crawling all over the lounge floor!
  19. Baby swimming run classes at Michael Tippett school in Henre Hill They are great but are only on after school so quite late for little ones Someone in the morning or just earlier than late afternoon is required
  20. Steve the Sweep ?50 0208 8576511 / 07930 345245 His family have been sweeps since the 1900s Father and son Loads of recommendations on here for him
  21. Claire was my lactation consultant too I didn't really have issues feeding ie no sore nipples unlike some others but my son had LOTS of wind and hiccups and dribbling and I found the snip really helped They also say that if it's not cut it can affect speech and even hernias in males later in life as it is all related to their 'midline' My son could stick his tongue out no problem but we still decided to go for the snip and noticed he difference immediately - literally on the way home we could see he had More facial expressions and looked more relaxed. The waking to feed in the night is a bit o a pain but it's only 2 weeks whIch in the big scheme of things isn't long I would definitely say have it done
  22. Is there any reason you would like to go private? My sons tongue tie was dealt with at kings and the care was great. One of the specialists there - Clare - is extremely experienced and will help with re and post care and get a quick referral
  23. Hi all Apologies if my first post was a little unclear. Thank you to all the nannies that have applied but we already have a fantastic nanny we are looking for a family to share with. We are looking for a family in the East Dulwich / Bellenden area with a child of a similar age for our son to play with (my son will be 1 in May) and of course to share the cost of our nanny! We are happy to host full time or alternate with the other family Thanks
