  1. There are spiteful fathers too..... In an ideal world parents put their personal feelings aside and do what is best for the children, sadly, some (mothers and fathers) struggle with this.

I believe David Cameron's commentS were directed at those fathers who choose to be absent, not the ones who have it forced upon them. Also they should apply to absent mothers too, although this is more of a rarity.

  2. I wouldn't claim...... Your premium will increase for sure, and you will lose your no claim bonus.

I had someone hit my car and write it off, they apologised, admitted liability and I claimed from their insurance without using my own. I notified my own though and hey presto come renewal the premium was hiked up considerably!

  3. I'm with Moos and Pickle!

Cleaner arrives shortly, daughter at nursery, Mr ClareC and I about to head out for lunch with baby ClareC - almost a child free lunch! Ironing pile will be sorted by the ironing lady on Thursday....... Now where did I put that emery board!!

Seriously though, if I didn't have a cleaner, the house would never get a full clean! Believe me I do plenty of cleaning and tidying between professional cleans! With 2 under 17 mths, ironing doesn't get done! Once both children in bed I generally am ready for bed myself, and am up in the night twice for night feeds! Certainly not up for tackling a mountain of ironing! As for nursery, it's two afternoons a week which is great for all of us on so many levels! Yes im a SAHM and no I don't feel guilty for this help! It's a financial choice of what to spend your money on!

  4. If your back hurts, start sitting on a birth ball and avoid sitting back ie sofa's / cars etc. I had horrendous back pain when sitting with my first pregnancy, assumed it was normal and I was just being a total wuss compared to others. Later found out my daughter was back to back, an indication of which is back pain!

Second time around my back was fine until very late on and even then it was an odd ache which occurred when i sat in the same position for a long time ie driving.

May be your baby isn't back to back and the ache is due to the extra weight and your joints loosening..... Thought I would mention it though as in hindsite I wish i had know the awful pain I suffered was not normal!

    Hope you get it sorted.

  5. He is still sicky but has definitely improved. Not sure if it's the changes I've made or that he is better at dealing with it.... He sounds like he will be sick but then seems to swallow it again! We have the 6 week check next week so Will chat to the Dr about reflux and baby gaviscom too.

He def is gaining weight (rapidly) so I'm not concerned, just not pleasant for him (or me). My mum said I was a sicky baby right up until a year old?!?!?!?! Let's hope its not the same!

How soon did you find eliminating milk made a difference?

  6. Anyone got a cardbiard box going spare?

That is a great idea, especially as we are reluctant to continue this unless we have too for sanity reasons! I wouldn't mind buying one of the bed nest things if we intended to use it long term but am hoping he starts settling better post 5 am feed!

Already have a Moses basket, crib and cot...... Yet his preference was the P&T cocoon! Please no more baby kit we are being swamped by it, loving the box idea!!

Thanks Fuschia for the links, will be reading those tomorrow - attempting an early (ish) night tonight.

  7. They should have limited it to one ticket per person, if tickets are scarce, it's unfair some people have more than one yet others get none - especially londoners who are paying for it but that's another matter!
  8. Thank you for all the advice, definitely a necessity rather than choice, my toddler wakes around 7, 7.30 ish and there is no rest from then on! With the night feeds I realy need that extra couple of hours!

Interesting other babies do the same, gives me hope it may be temporary and just due to his age! my daughter was opposite to her brother, difficult to settle when going to bed but really easy throughout the night / early morning ..... I used to get to lay in until 10am!

Would prefer not to buy another cot, think I will give it a couple more weeks and see if he gets better. In the meantime will try out the v shaped cushion idea and separate quilts - up until now I've just had no quilt on me to make sure it can't go on him...... Ok this time of year, glad it's not winter!!

  9. My nearly 5 week old seems to sleep well from around 7pm until 4/5am waking for just 2 feeds. After this time he seems to not want to settle and I am up to him pretty constantly. If I bring him in bed with us once this happens, he will settle easily and sleep through until our toddler wakes! Bliss..... Other than I am really uncomfortable cosleeping, feel really paranoid.

I know the principles ie no alcohol etc I also lay in such a way I can't roll on him and neither can his dad, however I'm still not comfortable with it and would much prefer him in his crib!!

I seem to remember there is some kind of product you can buy that protects baby in a separate box like contraption whilst cosleeping- are they any good and what are they called?

Any other tips gratefully received! I know lots of people choose to cosleep, how do you make it work confident baby is safe?

    Thankyou
