  1. Newlands School have proposed to expand the current school from an intake of 60 to 80 children and extending the age range from 11-16 to 11-19. 16 of the new pupils would be over 16 years of age. This will correspond with the opening of the new site for Ivydale primary school which is next door to the Newlands school. The main entrance has been suggested to be moved to the Rye Road side too. Surely the school should be making people in the surrounding area aware of this plan so that they can have their say but this doesn't seem to be the case. There was a consultation event at the school today which was not well publicised so the turnout was likely low. I'm posting this so that people in the surrounding are aware of the plans, so you have an opportunity to have your say. 2. Just had a bit of gardening work done by Anthony. He was recommended to us by Steve who we found via the forum. Anthony is a very hard working, conscientious and considerate gardener. We had a small garden project to which he gave a v reasonable quote, and he took the time to answer all my questions both during the project and via text afterwards. We have some pesky foxes who are now intent on digging up our newly laid lawn so I've been texting Anthony who has reassured me he'll return to sort out any damage once they've moved on. We have two small children so many of his suggestions re our garden considered them and he helped explain to my 3.5 year old why he had to stay off our lovely new lawn for a while. Honestly, I can't recommend him enough! Here's Anthony's contact details 07956 082253 [email protected]
  3. I love the 'PAY AS YOU GO' branding on the cars I've seen. Subtle.
  4. What about Hazlex Or The Hazlex
  5. I'm sure you'll find lame loner (cheap shot I know, but funny nonetheless) trolling on that one too.
  6. The point of posting this, well, like a lot of people on this thread, I'm not a big fan of 'poo-shoe', 'pram-poo' in fact any kind of animal poo that might end up on my carpet or in my office. True, this kind of post is repetitive and boring in as much as is cleaning up someone elses responsibility from a)my house, office, shoe or b)the pavement where it doesn't belong. Interestingly, the person with the most to say on this topic is the one moaning it the most. Surely it interfere's with your important time less if you just skip to the next post. Pretty simple really.
  7. Congratulations to the 30something white guy with the chocolate Labrador. You win today's prize for the steaming pile of poo your dog has shared with us all on limesford road at 8.04 today. I was in a rush today so I didn't have a chance to discuss this with you then but next time I'll make sure I have plenty.
  8. So i googled met police crime rates for both nunhead and east dulwich and there were some interesting facts... East dulwich http://maps.met.police.uk/access.php?pcode=Se22+8el&searchlocation-button=&sort=rate&curr_area=E01004016 Nunhead http://maps.met.police.uk/access.php?area=00BEGP&ct=16&sort=rate Anyway, my point is that nunhead is also a decent and safe place to live as is east dulwich. Neither have the omnipresent threat of crime and you can walk the streets at night without any trouble. You may get more for your money if you explore a little further away but still have access to all things ed.
  9. Nunhead all the way. Much more for your money (for now), loads of green spaces such as the cemetery, one tree hill, telegraph hill and the rye, nice streets such as hichisson and limesford. Very good community vibe and much lower crime rates than ed. I've lived in both and certainly prefer nunhead but then I've a young child and have little need for the cheesy disco bars.
  10. Battle Royal is another good example of how to eradicate a gang plague. I'm sure most of the little peckers would be up for it given half the chance. Australia is a good option for a venue but closer to home would waste less of our scarce public funds. How about the Isle of Sheppey?
  11. Following the spate of burglaries in the area I am thinking of getting an adt alarm for the piece of mind of my family but am wondering whether it actually draws attention to the fact that you have something worth stealing rather than putting burglars off. Very few houses on my road have alarms so I wouldn't want to draw attention to ours as somewhere with riches(which it isn't). What do people think? Are there any stats? Thanks D
  12. I've just returned from a delicious Sunday lunch with my wife and baby at the ivy house to the accompaniment of some very chilled live jazz. I've always been put off by the exterior but inside it feels like a country local and is very welcoming. I would definitely recommend, well worth a trip and not too busy. Has anyone been to one of the events there if so are they baby friendly. D
  13. It's beyond a joke that this has happened so many times in such a short period. Can't be that hard for the police. Desperate measures called for, vigilante group anyone?
