  1. Hi all- My wife, 6 month old daughter, and I need a few recommendations for professional movers. We need two men and a moving truck. We are moving from ED to Nunhead early October and would like to get a few estimates. No packing just purely moving. We're in a 2 bedroom terraced house currently. Parking is not an issue on either side of the move. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Because the car wash at Dulwich Hamlets is closed at the moment I found a guy named Kai (rhymes with high) who has a full service car wash van. He will come to you and do the interior/exterior for ?10. I thought he was quite good and friendly. His number is: 07572 842 915 Tell him Jon referred you. He normally doesn't work Sundays (unless booked in advance) so if you needed it done immediately there is a ?5 service charge. But if booked in advance there is no service charge. Cheers, Jon
  3. I spoke to one of the workers on Friday when there were many of those 'dog vehicles' there. I inquired if they were closed for the day and she said no, come back later. Her excuse was they were waiting for "papers." Which I thought was a bit odd but perhaps there were a few workers that didn't have the appropriate visa, or at least couldn't produce it immediately. I don't know but when I went back later on Friday it was shut and has remained so. Hoping whatever issue they are having is resolved soon as my car desperately needs a wash! There were two groups of workers, one group standing outside the gate having a smoke and laughing and another group that were all sat by the, what I thought were police, grouped together as if separated intentionally which is why I made this assumption when the girl said we are waiting on papers..... Would be a real shame if it closed. I doubt it has anything to do with the location, it's perfect. Hope that helps! Jon
  4. Dear all- I passed my driving test today and am ever grateful to my instructor Silvano Bozza. I only took 4 lessons with Silvano and managed to pass. He helped me correct all of my faults as an experienced driver from the USA, I found Silvano's instruction method very intense but in a very good and personable way. He makes sure that you're over qualified for the test before taking it which is why I only got 4 minor faults today. I highly recommend him for experienced and new drivers alike. New drivers won't be able to learn how to drive in four lessons, but whatever your experience level, if you listen to Silvano and apply his instruction you will pass. He is very thorough, informative, and gives a lot of useful feedback. He's one of the best in the industry. His contact details are as follows: email: [email protected] phone: +44 (0)7702 615 834 If you have any questions, feel free to send me a private message. Thank you Silvano! Best, Jon
  5. I'm not one to post negative opinions online, but when my wife and I moved to ED last year we registered with the DMC after doing a lot of research. We've never had such a poor experience with a GP. We moved to another GP within 3 months because the service, attention to detail and lack of empathy was terrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Best of luck to everyone in finding another GP or those still at the DMC.
  6. Hi all. I'm looking to join a sports team/league in the ED area. Football, Basketball, American Football, Softball, Tennis, Bowling etc... Looking to get involved with something locally in ED. Any help is appreciated! I hope everyone has a great weekend. Cheers, Jon
  7. Hi All- I've lived in ED for about 10 months now and I have yet to come across any sports leagues (formal or informal). I'm flexible re: the sport. Football, Basketball, Softball, Rugby, American Football, Tennis, bowling etc...doesn't really matter to me, just would love to join a group of like minded competitive individuals and have some fun (and get a little exercise too). Yes, I realise that bowling isn't exactly a sport for exercise....no need to state the obvious. Regardless, does anyone know of any such league, team or group in the ED area? Thanks, Jon
  8. Just had an amazing pub lunch here and thought I'd share the love: http://clockhousepub.com/ The food was delicious. I had the pork belly and my wife had a half chicken. Everything was lovely, would highly recommend it. Note. Scotch Eggs are not on the Sunday menu as reflected online, nor is is Salmon ceviche. Also, the beef roast is ?15 as opposed to ?14 as reflected on their menu online. Other than that it's a delightful place for a Sunday roast. Booking is highly recommended. Enjoy!
  9. Not always. Thank you, I will check them out :)
  10. Recently moved to ED and am looking for the best (and most cost efficient) Chemist. Any recommendations? Thank you!
  11. @Strawbs thanks for the advice, although I have read a lot of positive reviews about the DMC, more than the Gardens Surgery unfortunately....but we are going to keep an open mind :) and certainly haven't decided on one yet. @Alan Medic- yes of course trying to avoid amateurs...that's why we are moving out of our 'trendy neighborhood.' ;) @the-e-dealer- we are moving from London Fields in Hackney and love Broadway market on Saturdays. The park is great on sunny summer spring/summer days for sun bathing socialising, drinking and bbqs. So many local pubs and restaurants that are wonderful and seem to be sprouting everywhere at the moment and the Hackney Picturehouse theatre does great deals for movies. Open to any and all suggestions/recs! Best cycle shop for repairs etc...how's the Hamlet's Health Club?.... thanks again! I'm very impressed by the quick replies. -Jon
  12. 13" MacBook purchased refurbished. No problems whatsoever (touch wood). Good luck!
  13. Dear East Dulwich Forum- First, I think it is amazing that you have your own forum, my wife and I are excited about moving to ED in April and we've already found a wealth of information, tips and advice regarding ED. This is my first post and basically I just wanted to pose the question to all EDers out there: What do you wish someone had told you before you had moved to ED? Any other advice or recommendations on anything from GPs to best pubs are greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance :) We can't wait to move to ED. Kind regards, Jon
