  1. This is a really cute, characterful little book case. Not sure what wood it's made from. Think it's probably Victorian. It has 3 shelves and fits standard size books. The lower right glass panel has a crack. It wobbles slightly but looks really rustic. I've moved house and it doesn't fit any where. 64cm wide x 105cm high x 14cm deep £25 or make me an offer! Collection from Half Moon Lane near North Dulwich Station.
  2. Solid sheesham wood corner cupboard with two drawers and shelf. This is painted in a dusky French blue chalk paint with blue and white ceramic knobs. 90cm wide x 51cm deep x 55cm height. It came from John Lewis originally, but I painted over the dark wood. Handy for kids games etc £25 or make me an offer! Collection from Half Moon Lane (nr N. Dulwich Station)

  4. Free to anyone who wants to collect it, this is a double wardrobe with sliding doors from IKEA. Internally it has a hanging rail spanning the width and two shelves on one side. It's a mid brownish/grayish colour with a kind of limewash effect. It needs its screws tightened up and the back panel, which comes in two parts has a slight gap, but could easily be taped from behind. It measures 198cm height x 120cm wide x 56cm depth. We've moved house and don't need it any more. Collection from Half Moon Lane near North Dulwich Station. It's going to Southwark recycling centre on Thursday if no-one wants it.
  5. BOSCH Washer / Dryer Bosch Series 4 Integrated Washer and Dryer, model number: WKD28352GB. Selling this nearly new integrated Washer/Dryer. It came installed in our new-build house but we have decided to have a utility with a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. This washer dryer has only had light use for a few months and is in nearly new condition. (Sells new for £999 at John Lewis) Dimensions: H82 x W59.5 x D58.4cm. It comes with all of its hinges and fixtures so that you can integrate it behind your own kitchen cupboard door, or alternatively just have it as a freestanding appliance. This model currently sells at John Lewis for £999. Collection from London SE24 near North Dulwich Station (ground floor).
  6. I just recommended Christina on the West Dulwich Forum here: http://www.westdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,18670 She came to my place and did a great job on my hair cut and colour before xmas, so would definitely recommend her.
  7. Another recommendation for Gokay who's been my husband's personal trainer for the last few months and has really transformed him. He's never been very fit and had lapsed into a bit of a couch-potato. But now he's totally motivated and has morphed from potato-shape into something more like Daniel Craig! Which is very nice indeed! Thanks Gokay! Also should add that Gokay is very professional, friendly and reliable. My husband reckons he could transform anyone.
  8. Hi all, noticed the advertising on this site amongst others for the 'Sparks4Kids' coding courses for kids age 8+. I can't find any reviews of these courses on the internet and the course fees are quite hefty (?400+ for a 5 day course at belair house). My son thinks he'd like it, he's 10, but don't know whether to shell out for it as don't know if it's any good or not? I.e. do they just leave the kids to play minecraft on the computer all day?? Would be really interested to know...! Thanks :)
  9. Hello Scott, thanks for your post, I phoned up Whitten Timber and asked them, but they said they couldn't do it. I have a shack/garage attached to the side of my house where you could said up a cutting jig to do the posts? I confess I don't know what a cutting jig is and it may well be far too much hassle for such a small job... So if anyone else out there can do it, please let me know! Thanks Mrs Platypus :)
  10. Hi, I've been looking for wooden fence posts that are carved in that style so common in Dulwich village area - they look a bit like a bishop's hat - please see the attached image. I need 6 wooden posts about 2m in length and 6inches wide, carved in this style. I've looked everywhere for these kind of posts, but it seems they can't be bought off the shelf, I have to find a carpenter who can carve out the design. So if you are a carpenter who can do this, please send me a message! Thanks Mrs Platypus :)
  11. I recently had Westminster Carpets do my stairs, they're on Lordship Lane. The carpet I chose wasn't cheap, but they have a huge selection of samples in their shop and the member of staff (John) who helped me was very nice and patient. My stairs looks great and I was pleased with the job. I went into the carpet shop on the other side of forest hill (EJ carpets or something like that?) they didn't have nearly such a good selection and the guy I spoke to seemed to have a problem with numbers, which isn't very helpful for a carpet fitter who needs to be confident with measurements.
  12. Hello - can anyone recommend a really good opticians in the Dulwich area? I need someone who's going to give me the right prescription - not bothered about choice of frames etc! Thanks x
  13. Thanks for the replies - do you think it'll be fun for 8 year olds?
  14. Hello all, just wondering if anyone's got any experience of the "London Karting Company" - they do kids go-karting birthday parties at dulwich college sports club. It's quite expensive so not sure if it's any good or really worth the expense. Have any of your kids been to one of these birthday parties? Would you recommend it for ?300 + ? It's a lot for a birthday party but haven't done one for my son for a couple of years...(guilt!) Thanks :)
