  1. Hamish did pruned back two trees and cut down a third, and took away all the material. Nice guys, very efficient and friendly. Highly recommend. Fiona
  2. Another echo for John and Marissa - they made my windows sparkle after *shame* 20 years without being cleaned. A good price for a mid-terrace with internal glass door and two velux windows. Nice.
  3. Dan came round and sorted my problem in seconds. Job done, very happy. Highly recommended.
  4. https://www.thecyclingsparks.co.uk/ He cycles to you with his tools on his back and specialises in domestic work, big and small (my job was small). Friendly, prompt, quick responder and adjusted the price down to reflect the work when he saw it (I'd be none the wiser). Nice chap, called Aaron, just started out in January after being fed up working for corporates on site. Highly recommended by me :)
  5. Shearclass in Nunhead on Evelina Road, just up from the fishmongers. I told them I needed a new Yale because it kept slipping. He popped round on the dot of the appointment, told me the keep was just in slightly the wrong place, fixed it, and only charged me a tenner. Saved me ?40 - and I'd have never known otherwise. Didn't ask me to write a review, which is always a good sign too. So I thought I'd let EDF know in case you've not used this shop before. Cannot recommend this friendly company highly enough.
  6. Thank you! Children are adults now, just adults unlikely to ever be able to afford to buy a place of their own... It's now a downloadable will I need - I could pick one up in Smiths - it's advice on what options I have if any re dealing with inheritance tax, so I can ensure my sons have somewhere to live. Given the absurd prices of London properties, I'd have thought there were loads of people needing this kind of advice, no?
  7. Can anyone recommend someone I can get advice from? Specifically inheritance tax and what my options are. It's terrifying. Here's hoping...
  8. This involves a South London house and two adult children who are unlikely to ever be able to afford a home of their own. I need advice on what is best to do. Have heard all sorts about Trustees and the like, but I need some honest, idiot-friendly advice. Fingers crossed... and thanks in advance!
  9. The brilliant Pavel is away for a few weeks and I need someone who knows what they're doing to look at my mac and the router and sort it all out. Any recommendations please? Please mention hourly rates, too.
  10. I know. I wish his business the very best and, like I said, I hope I'll be able to keep him on for a day a month. He's an asset.
  11. He's a diamond. I'm so glad you found him too. I hope he has the confidence to put his rates up a bit soon as he's really good and is totally undercharging. I know he needs to get his business established, and it's always best to go cheap, but to pay a lad AND himself for his daily rate is astonishing.
  12. Hi all Luke (Project Scapes)has been working in my back garden for a week now, and he's been brilliant. He's young, so his rate is really reasonable (?95 a day) and he often brings a young lad who he's giving a bit of work to when he can, - this counts for a LOT in my book. They've put down crazy paving and done a supremely good job, even using a few bits of broken delf here and there, that I'd found. They're clearing some overgrowth now and I'll be using him to put down turf in a couple of months. Very trustworthy, he is happy to do what you ask or offer suggestions when you need them. I've used his suggestions. My plan now is to keep him after that for a day a month if I can, to keep on top of things. Honestly I can't recommend him highly enough, and what's really nice is that he didn't ask me to recommend him. I'd just like to. Luke: 07851 128968.
  13. Paul just left, having gone the extra mile to help us when the CD drive on a macbook pro refused to spit out a CD. We'd tried everything and nothing worked, but he sorted it AND helped with some data transfer. His number is now in my phone - I hope I don't have to contact him too soon, but he's definitely a good go-to guy for mac problems. He does PCs also. And he didn't ask for a recommendation, I'm just making it because I want him to continue to do good business. A real find - thanks EDF.
  14. Basic but fine. I hope they add the old name into the metadata to help people find it.
  15. Oh that's excellent - I suggested that last week so that's great that they've done it. :)
