  1. Due to building works we need to temporarily move out of the house we are renting, ideally from 14 to 28 March. We are 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 10) so would need two bedrooms, and ideally the temp rental would be located in or close to SE22 as the kids are at a local primary school. Any offers are much appreciated, please DM me.
  2. Looking for small / medium moving boxes to borrow for up to 6 weeks from wc 19th Feb while we have builders & decorators in. Happy to collect locally in the evening. We're in SE22.
  3. Dulwich library had stacks of them just now, 20 tests per pack, one pack per household.
  4. We had a party at Airthrill in Catford recently - a giant inflatable assault course and they have a nerf gun area kids can use. https://airthrill.co.uk/uk/london/
  5. Can anyone recommend a good, trustworthy used-car dealer in SE London to contact about buying a ULEZ-compliant car?
  6. Maybe look at Cindy's Swim School. Not sure about 1:1 or 1:2 classes but my kids are in a 1:4 class in a nice little pool of a primary school near Myatt's Field (15min drive from SE22). https://cindysswimschool.co.uk/
  7. I got caught in the same 'trap' last week. Walked the route at the weekend to check for the signs as I really did not see them while I was driving. One (admittedly big) red sign is on LL but with so much text on it's impossible to read, never mind digest, while driving and paying attention to the pedestrian crossing. Another is right at the entrance to Townley Rd/LL - again, impossible to read & comprehend that amount of info while doing a right turn, watching out for pedestrians and going over the speed bump. The next sign is opposite the Alleyn's entrance and at the time I drove along (approx 3:45pm) this was fully hidden by the row of 5 coaches parked up there, and I was paying attention to the masses of school kids. Then there's a smaller sign on a patch of grass that's actually on Carlton Road and quite out of sight, and if you drive one meter further you get snapped on camera. Yes, the signs are huge and red but I'm sure simpler signs like a 'no left turn arrow plus the times' would be more adequate and effective. And why not have one final sign at the traffic light (TR/EDG junction), where people are likely to stop, giving them a final opportunity to turn right into EDG? It's clearly a money-making scheme from our cash-strapped council. Also, I can't remember residents in the SE22 area having ever received a leaflet with info on this new scheme. I've seen examples of representations which pick out that the PCN states that Southwark would take an enforcement step before the law permits them to. However, it seems that Southwark have now amended that wording from the original "If payment has not been made by the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of this notice a Charge Certificate may be issued", to "If payment has not been made before the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of service of this notice", so I'm not sure I have a leg to stand on but would really resent having to pay the PCN. Seems like lots of people are in the same boat and there are various threads on this already. Wonder what can be done about it other than people trying individually to get their own representations through and choosing a different route next time?
  8. Hi there, are you also running these workshops throughout August? Thanks
  9. We've just been to Dulwich woods and it's the same there. Lots of drinks cans, glass bottles, single use plastic inside dens that kids want to play in. There was even some charred wood. Why anyone would think it's a good idea to light a fire inside a den in the woods at this exceptionally dry time is just beyond me.
  10. Might be a bit further than you'd like but we saw loads and loads of wild garlic at Box Hill last spring (near the stepping stones) and in previous years also near Ightam Mote.
  11. We stumbled across this guy in the park toilet building around 10:15am. Not sure what he was doing but clearly wasn't happy about being disturbed. He came out ranting and raging, pushed my partner around in front of the kids and tried to hit him. We made a quick exit to head to the cafe but he came up to us from behind and pushed my partner again, then kept walking on while continuing to shout. He was clearly in a very bad state and we were all quite shaken. The kids really needed the toilet so we didn't call the police and when we came back out he was gone. Poor guy, hope he's getting help and that noone was properly hurt.
  12. For any families whose children are joining Reception at Heber next week, there will be an informal meet up / play in Peckham Rye Park (dog free area / arboretum) this Friday 6th September. We will start at 10.30am and carry on through lunch. Everyone welcome (child-minders, grandparents, etc). It will lovely to meet anyone who can make it and let the kids play together and warm up a bit for next week.
  13. There will be a parent-organised picnic for all Heber Reception 2019/20 families on Friday 6th September from 10:30am in the Arboretum/dog-free area in PEckham Rye. We've also started a mailing list and are gathering phone numbers for a WhatsApp group. If you're not on this yet but would like to be added, just send me a PM.
  14. Does anyone know whether the development of the old sorting office on Silvester Rs into flats and houses is about to start? All morning two guys have been breaking up the paving by the old entrance with a pneumatic drill without any ear protection and lots of boards and 2x4s have been delivered. The guys who lived in the building for a while have gone and the door has been replaced...
  15. Our son will also be starting in Heber Reception in September. We already know a few other families from our current nursery. There's an info session for new parents on 20th June when we also find out which class the kids will be in, so that might be an opportunity to start a list of phone numbers for a WhatsApp group?
