Is anyone seriously suggesting that a person on ?100k plus isn't rich? London housing is actually insane, could easily rent a house elsewhere for the price of a room in a London flatshare!

Operation goes down a storm in our house. Similarly junior scrabble, admittedly not so much fun for the grown ups!

Charity shops serve a dual purpose, one is of course to raise funds for the charity the other is to allow people with lower resources to buy items they could not otherwise easily afford. Which in itself is a form of charity. Placing them in affluent areas allows people who are in position to give to do so, and there are plenty of people even in leafy suburbs who need charity shops.

Umm where in the original piece does it say anything about social problems at Dawsons? Just says about clever balcony design.

It's a fabulous place to live, kids can play outside in a less structured way than being taken to the park. It's safe, well lit, well maintained and almost eerily quiet for so many people in one place. Also the flats are HUGE. Grim reputation maybe, but that certainly isn't the reality.

What time did this happen? There was a non-violent mugging near the top of Barry Rd by two young men and might be connected? The police are investigating so please give them any info that you can.

A charity based company is not a charity which is presumably why you choose not to register with the charity commission, not this tosh about your earnings. Wouldn't it be better to be a bit more upfront and transparent about what you are?

Why would Trident deal with this? If the local police for some odd reason chose to refer on to trident then they would still be taking action rather than ignoring this woman in the disgraceful way they have. Either way Trident isn't really the appropriate department.

OK it's a bit shabby but it's cheap, nearby, has beer and I've never had a problem with the staff (but then I've never been a fan of that faux american style service you get in some chains). Happy to keep supporting local independent businesses.

Also to counteract the negativity! If leasehold with a housing ass. as opposed to council it is possible to pay a little extra on top of the service charge towards works so that you are never landed with a bill regardless of the costs of works or how much you have paid in.

Ex local tend to be solidly built, excellently serviced in the case of most housing association blocks (there are many in Dulwich, Dawson's Heights being the largest I think) and with loads more space for your cash even when considering service charges. Also buildings insurance is usually included and any major problems that arise (leaky roof, external doors, pipework etc) are usually done free of charge as it is included in the service charge so in my experience it is a money saver rather than a problem.

I suppose it's down to the individual organisations, blocks, and agreements etc.

Wondering where people have heard such awful things about Dawsons Heights? Very quiet, occasional music etc but never late at night. Fly tipping from outside residents dealt with swiftly by in house staff. On site caretakers 24/7. Usually just lots of resident kids playing outside and enjoying independent play in one of the few places in London where kids can still safely just go out and play on their own. No idea where this 'crime rules' idea has come from, simply doesn't exist.

Funny, we were always charged a pound each to get in, not 50p.

Had it been about 100 times larger I'd agree, but 15 cars and a unbelievably rude guy on the gate is laughable. Also why a police presence?!

Very surprised at how utterly dreadful it was. ?1 entry a few cars selling below par tat and naff all else. Shall be sticking with places with actual stock and less rude door staff.

We also have bees nesting in our wall so currently keeping living room windows shut, we were told that to remove them they would have to be destroyed so I'll happily put up with shut windows instead. Also I'm guessing it's no coincidence that plants on our roof that hadn't flowered much before are now in full bloom!

Are any bars holding an anti-jubilee party? Went to an excellent punk one the last time the country was saluting Queenie and it was light hearted and lots of fun, would definitely be up for another this time around. Or we could hold one ourselves, fellow republicans?

That is usually to hold the thread taut, it isn't to be used in contact with the eyebrow but to give the correct tension to pull out all those stray hairs. Threading is quick, clean and I absolutely love it.

I am so baffled by the cab, it stank something rotten when I walked up there (well crawled up really) yesterday. Perhaps has been moved out of the area where they have been building? It looks decrepit.

The horticultural college is attached to the farm but the farm itself is still very much there! Great animal areas and close to the 'dinosaurs' in the lake too!

There is also an 'exotic' animal area (snakes, fish etc) if you're brave enough to go in...

Have been to India (Varkala, Kerala) with a one year old and again when he was two, immaculate clean beaches, amazing accomodation and food, great healthcare and wonderful people! Really easy to get to from Trivandrum airport (pre-pay cab around 2000 rupees).

Had such a wonderful time and will be back in India with toddler in tow later this year!
