  1. Mother Goose on Waveney Avenue is open from 7.30am til 6.30pm. Brilliant, brilliant nursery - my daughter absolutely loved it and thrived there - but long waiting list (as with all nurseries in the area). Worth looking into, though.
  2. I guess it depends a bit on interests / where they live, but my daughter (now 3) was given a similar kite to this a while ago. We used it in Peckham Rye Park for the first time during the really blustery weather a couple of weeks back, and it was just the most amazing fun! Really easy to get up in the air (ie no running, or kite-flying know-how required), and my 3yo could hold it once it was in the air. Would be even more fun with older kids who can manage it more themselves (although to be honest, I had so much fun flying it I was almost grateful that she needed help!). All kids I know will be getting one as a stocking filler / Christmas present! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0096DJHVA/ref=pd_aw_sbs_21_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=31kq4XAmehL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL115_SR115%2C115_&refRID=01Z0ER6W5T1WB4PNX5JE
  3. Man in mid-thirties, slight beard and wearing sand-coloured parka with fur-trimmed hood - you are so disrespectful. You saw me looking at your dog leaving a huge pile on the lawn on PR common, I watched you go towards it as if you were going to pick it up. I also saw you swerve away from it when you thought I had looked away. I called for you to pick it up, again you went towards it but turned again as soon as you thought I wasn't looking. Why not pick it up!? It's almost more pathetic to PRETEND to pick it up rather than just being defiant in your idiocy. We all share this space - show some respect.
  4. We saw these lovely ducks in the park last week, and following some research thought that they might be Egyptian Geese. Link with photos here: http://www.gobirding.eu/Photos/EgyptianGoose.php They appear to pair for life, which might explain the the fact that there seems to be only two of them in the park: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_Goose Hard to believe they're classified as pests!
  5. Thank you all for taking the time to reply - much appreciated! I am probably worrying prematurely as some of you pointed out - we just really like the area and would be reticent to have to move away. We'll just sit tight and see what happens...
  6. Many thanks Mrs TP - that's a good shout, and sounds encouraging!
  7. Hi all - I have a question I was hoping you wise people can guide me on. We live right on Peckham Rye Park, between Barry and Friern Roads, and we have an 18mo girl. Judging by all previous discussions on here, and the catchment map someone kindly created and posted a while back, we live right in the middle if ED's 'black hole ' for primary schools. Whilst I know that these things can differ somewhat year on year, does anyone have any idea which school our daughter is likely to be offered a place at? When the time comes, we will of course put down multiple options on her application, and although I absolutely haven't delved deep into the application process yet I understand from other threads that it would be shortsighted not to put down at least one option which we are actually likely to get (to try to mitigate against being allocated a school horrendously far away). The closest school to us is Goodrich, but we don't really stand a chance for that, from what I gather. I know that we have a couple if years to go before application, but it is already a bit if a worry at the back of my mind. Has anyone got an idea, ie live in the same 'black hole' with kids in school, or know anyone who as applied and been offered a place recently? Your help is much appreciated - thank you!
