  1. Hi, Not sure if this is the right place to post... but I'm looking for names or details of any London based groups / charities /organisations that work with children through taking them outside - for adventure, group challenges, education etc... could be large or small. I'm considering a career change and this is an area of interest. I'm right at the beginning so am just collecting as much info as possible for now - trying to understand what type of work there is in this field... I've found some larger charities via google, but there may be many more groups operating on a smaller scale / without websites etc. thanks in advance
  2. We would like to replace our bathroom and are seeking recommendations and quotes. Job will include total removal of existing tiles (floor and wall) and bathroom suite (includes electric shower), replastering, tiling, and fitting new (non-electric) shower, bath and basin. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the recommendation Londontraveller - I think we maybe had a look at your house after we also booked Joe for the work. We would also highly recommend Joe from LondonKent Brickwork - Tel: 07808537289 email: [email protected] We had very thick concrete render removed front and back, bricks repaired and replaced, original headers repaired, very smart pointing, and a few areas of re-render (eg around bay, and front door). Joe and Brad were great to work with, and very considerate of family life and our neighbours too. Joe talked through all elements of the job, and kept us well informed of any price implications / changes. We are delighted with the results and he's already started work on another house 3 doors down the road. K
  4. We have two fake archways built into the partition between a double reception room, and between the kitchen and dining area. We'd like them knocked out and squared off to create a little more space and let in more light. We are struggling to find anyone interested in even coming for a quote - is it too small a job?! Any recommendations for builders / renovators very welcome, Many thanks.
  5. Hi, We have inherited an ugly, but structurally sound, kitchen. To improve it we'd like to replace all the doors, side panels, kickboards etc etc, and have a new worktop fitted. Does anyone have any recommendations - both for where to source the materials, and for someone to do the actual re-fit? Thank you.
  6. Hello! Our second is on the way and due in mid-December, and our son is 2 now. Would be great to join the group, and I can make it on the 26th - will send a message to join the FB group. Thanks for organising!
  7. Hi, we just had a load of plaster rubble (20+bags) and bulky waste taken away for us by barney rubble (found through the forum), and want to recommend his service - he came the same day, charged a fair price and even ended up taking some extra stuff we'd booked in for a Southwark pick up. His number is 07541132087
  8. Just adding our recommendation for Andy and Richard - called Andy to see if they could remove a huge fitted wardrobe, Rich came round pretty much immediately to give a quote, and just ended up doing the work straight away. He also gave lots of helpful advice about other bits of work we needed doing - a mix of stuff we can now do ourselves (thanks to his guidance) and some recommendations for more technical work (e.g. decent plasterers). Really decent guys and we'll definitely be calling on them again.
  9. HI, We're thinking of removing our cracked (and damp-causing) concrete render, hoping to keep the just the brick underneath, and are looking for contractor recommendations. We've already approached Mahon, so looking for some alternatives to provide a quote. We would be interested to hear from people who have had this work done recently, and whether you'd recommend the contractors you used... Many thanks Kate
  10. Hi, reading this conversation with interest. Would anyone be able to explain how the school waiting list movement / summer shake down works? After reading the application process docs I see that you only get offered one place at one school (if available from your top 6). So where does the waiting list movement come from / how are places becoming available if everyone only gets one offer (which presumably most people will accept?)... Any enlightenment will be very appreciated! Many thanks.
