  1. Hi there, My son attends Piplings and we are really happy with the nursery on many levels. Only negative is the cost, it's one of the more expensive ones locally but if you can afford it I think definitely worth the cost. Have just commented on another thread from earlier this year (if you search: 'Piplings nursery - please would you be kind enough to share your experiences') giving more detailed positive feedback. Please feel free to PM me or answer via this thread if you have specific questions.
  2. Just found this thread and very surprised to not see more positive comments about Piplings. There are other threads where the feedback is great but that may have been the older site in Forest Hill. My son has attended two days a week since Jan this year and he's very happy at Piplings. We looked at around 7 nurseries and by far Piplings stood out to us. The staff are lovely and very professional, I know management run a tight ship - they are incredibly organised and also very picky about who they employ (a good thing in my opinion as I can see they have very high standards of expectation). This may explain why there has been a perceived high turn over of staff (from previous comments). We certainly have seen consistency in the 9 months our son has been there and I know staff retention is an issue across all of the nursery sector given feedback from other ones we have visited. However, we are probably going to move him when he reaches 2 - not because we have any issues with the care he gets (in fact I'm really worried about moving him from where we know he's happy) but more the fact that we have had baby #2 sooner than planned and will need to put two in childcare 4 days a week each so are on waiting list of a more local, cheaper nursery that provides the 30 hours free childcare. (Piplings have yet to confirm to us if they will be offering the 30 hours yet) Happy to answer any questions via PM.
  3. Good to find nice feedback on Peckham Rye Music Festival here Pilsbury.. It's something my partner is heavily involved with. Peckham Rye music Festival is happening again this year (2017) taking part in some of the same venues around Peckham as well as a few new ones. It's now in an expanded format - spread over two consecutive weekends ( with a week of community focused fringe events happening in between. I will be there with our baby in his ear defenders! Tickets on event cube this year: https://peckham-rye-music-festival.eventcube.io/events
  4. Another recommendation for Brad and his team here, they have just done an excellent job on my house. We are at the end of a renovation project that has been going on far too long and my builder's painter was too booked up so I came to EDF to find someone local and recommended - came across Brad and have not been disappointed. Both him and his team were a delight to deal with and have round the house. The quote was really thorough, Brad gave a full breakdown and options for min or max prep which was all at a reasonable price. They completed the work super fast and to schedule promised (thank goodness as we haven't had much luck recently with other trademen!). They really looked after the place/tidied up after each day and the finish was excellent - and believe me I have a high attention to detail myself! As you can imagine Brad gets booked up - we were lucky as he had a cancellation and managed to squeeze us in. Have now booked Brad's team in a few months ahead for some exterior works once the weather improves. Looking forward to having them back.
  5. Another recommendation for Steve, I have a 3 month old baby and washing machine broke a few weeks back. Steve fitted me in the first week back from his holiday when he was already super busy. Turned up promptly and had already diagnosed what was wrong by the information I texted him with before he came so was totally prepared. At the same time he did some checks on the heater to make sure that hadn't contributed to a blown fuse a few weeks earlier. Excellent, efficient service and great guy to deal with. Would highly recommend!
  6. Hi There, I have recently used Adrian Ayora - he was really good and thorough and prices were fair. If you search his name on here you will see the full review I gave him.. His details are: Adrian Ayora Chartered Structural Engineer BEng CEng MIStructE Director Cupola Design Ltd 2nd Floor, 4 Gleneldon Road, London, SW16 2AY Mob: 07791247361 Tel: 02087692185 www.cupoladesign.co.uk All the best, Tess
  7. Hi Vilma, For the party wall surveyor I used a really great guy called Tom Gotelee from Gazelle London. He's a chartered building surveyor and RICS member and works on commercial as well as residential projects. Think the company he works at do the whole process - design and project manage extensions/loft conversions/refurbs. I only found him when I had to do the party wall side of things but would have involved them more in the process if I had known about them earlier - even on a relatively simple extension and refurb it can be quite time consuming if you have to do it all yourself like I have - steep learning curve so I wish I had had an expert advising earlier on in the process. Good luck with your project whatever it might be! Tom is on [email protected] Tess
  8. Hi CSoo, I would recommend Adrian Ayora for a structural engineer - he's very recently helped me out with structural engineer drawings for building regs, drains, calcs, design of beams/foundations including a report etc for a complete renovation of the downstairs of my property (which is still ongoing till Christmas). We were in a bit of a hurry due to my first baby due to arrive on new years' day. I am project managing the whole thing and am new to all of this so as you can imaging all of these regulations are a bit baffling. Adrian was super quick to come round to do a site visit, completely clear over the phone before hand of his expected costs once he had had a look at the drawings I emailed. He was really diligent when he came round as he needed to work out how the structure currently worked as the house is 1960's ex council so not your normal victorian construction. I also had to put him on a really tight timescale for the documents as I was awaiting an extra layer of council approval to make alterations to an ex-council property and I was running out of time to start the 10 week project before baby arrived - he got everything to me super quick which was a great relief. My surveyor who was covering the party wall side of things said he was very thorough too (I am no expert but this was very reassuring!) and also said his rates were very fair. Would definitely recommend Adrian for any small to large job, he's been great to deal with especially under all that pressure I put on him! I've copied his details below from his signature... I might also post a recommendation separately for him on here as I struggled to find anyone when I searched the EDF... 9. Looking for a builder to start work in September (approx 3 month job) on front and back extensions (both small) and total renovation of the ground floor of a house (open plan). New kitchen and downstairs shower room as well as new flooring, underfloor heating and boiler. Due to birth on 1 st Jan so very tight on time now so getting right builder in place for September start is critical! Many thanks!
  10. Looking for a recommendation as we need to remove a whole house of original 1962 wallpaper then possibly fill / make good all walls for decorating. If walls are no good then potentially we would have to do skimming too (but only want to use a very experienced skimmer). Also end walls may need completely re-rendering. Does anyone know someone trustworthy and good? Thanks all!
  11. Hi, I would like a price on doing two front doors attached. Currently dark blue gloss but would like a light green water based exterior eggshell Farrow and Ball. Door on right needs filling as the paint has cracked and peeled off so needs a bit more prep. Also white wood surround sanded and repainted. Please can I have a quote from whoever can do the work in the next week or so. thanks Tess
  12. Hi, I am in need of a gardener to do the 'big' work which I don't have the equipment or strength/height for. Have a huge holly, ceanothus, lilac plus various other shrubs/bushes that need to be brought under control. Plus I have a garden path which needs all grass/weeds strimmed out of it then weed killer spray treated. Probably strimmming needed around the pond too. Most likely to be 2 - 3 hours work. Short notice but would be great if you could come tomorrow (Friday) or this weekend, or Monday? Thanks!
