  1. Shame, sorry to hear, what a horrible experience for both you and your neighbour, even worse that you heard them downstairs at the time and didn't realise what was going on. Thankfully though they didn't harm anyone. I hope the police crank up their patrols as well.
  2. Were the blokes standing round actual workmen or just passers by? I walked past there 4 times on saturday, the first about 10:15am, saw a red van of Clancy Docwra parked there. Driver having a nap inside. Walked past again about 11:45, driver awake now, but still sitting inside his car. Walked past again around 15:30, the van was now parked facing the opposite direction, driver inside.I got the impression he probably went for lunch and came back to sit in his van possibly charging the council per hour he is sat there. Temporary lights causing all manor of traffic turned on yesterday (monday) but so far I havent seen any actual work being done, considering the road started leaking around wednesday/thursday last week, you wonder what they are doing.
  3. Sorry to hear about your terrible experience, I never lock my door but my wife always tells me to, you always think nothing will happen, but its a unfortunate reminder we all need to be more careful. Hope you're ok and glad that at least they didn't make off with any valuables.
  4. Thats the spirit VeryBerryCherry! Thanks also to Ratty for your post about the staff at the Actress and well done to KalamityKate for being an honest and decent person. If more people did good things for their fellow humans, the world would be a better place and people would moan less. Doing something good like that gives you a personal satisfaction and you should always imagine if you helped someone in an unfortunate situation, that someone would do that for you if you were in the unfortunate situation. Its as simple as that.

  6. I've wanted to do this post a while back but haven't and now with the new year and the mostly bad news we hear all the time, I think its a good time to kick it off. Metro do something similar, but I thought we could have one as well as the people of ED show community spirit. I would like anyone who has been helped by a complete stranger in some way (even a small way) to post that good deed here. It's just a way of showing that not all humans are bad and that there is still some good in society as opposed to this whole "me me me" culture. So I will start, about a month or so ago, I was on a bus to the ED train station, I had already missed my early train which I normally take, so I had to catch a later one which meant I would get to work a bit late. Anyway, one of those diggers that was digging up the lordship lane decided he would drive down lordship lane in front of my bus. The bus was so held up that he overtook the digger when he got a chance, thats how slow the digger was going. Anyway, I got off the bus and started sprinting for the platform, when I was going up I already saw people walking down past me and I saw the train on the platform and I was nowhere near, but i decided to keep going, until I heard that dreaded BEEP BEEP BEEP sound knowing that my fate was sealed. As I reached the platform and was preparing to wave goodbye to the train, I saw a young lady who had gotten off, holding the train doors open for me. I jumped on and thanked her twice before the doors closed and off I went. I was so touched by this random act of kindness, that I vowed to actively help people in need when I came across it. So if you're reading this kind lady, thanks again! Now it so happened that at London Bridge, the guy near me got up and left his gloves on the seat, so I asked him if they were his and he said yes and thanked me. Nothing major, but if that girl hadnt held the doors open, I would have missed the train, been mega late to work and some guy would be without his gloves. With all the negative stories about burglaries, muggings etc, lets balance it out with some good stories. Happy new year to all.

The first time I parked there many moons ago, I did read it and it was fine at the time. Since then, loads of people always parked there. So I don't know if they changed the sign recently or what? Anyway, I'm just putting out a warning as I know I wont be the last person to be ticketed there, so all I'm saying is just be careful. What gets me more is I was literally in the shop less than 3 mins, I went straight for the medicine isle, didnt see the cough medicine and came straight out, and there was a ticket on the window. I'm convinced they just wait in the shadows and pounce. A bit of decency would be for the guy to come out and say, sorry, you're not allowed to park there and I would have happily moved. Instead they were all smug about getting another victim. So while its too late for me, I just hope I could save someone else for falling into the same trap.
  8. Just a warning, I stopped there for less than 3 minutes to get cough medicine with my wife and parents in the car and two lovely christmas spirited parking officers slapping a fine on my car in the allocated parking bays outside the sainsburys local on lordship lane near the library. Apparently it becomes a bus lane after 16:00 in the afternoon. So everyone be careful! What makes matters worse is these guys hide in the shadows waiting for unsuspecting victims to park there, you pop in for a second and BAM. ?120 fine or ?60 reduced if paid within 2 weeks. I've always seen loads of people parking there and while the guys started walking off with big smiles on their faces, another motorist parked right in front of my car so I warned him and am trying to warn others not to fall victim to these people.
  9. Hi there. I was hoping I could get some opinions from the families of and around ED. I've started my own online website which takes peoples digital photos and blends them together to make blended collages. I've posted a few times on the EDF with only a handful of orders from those posts (thanks to those who ordered by the way), and I wanted to get a general feeling of if people like these types of collages/or why not, would they order them, or why not etc. I think the familes of ED are my core target market, i.e. people who want to order collages of their familes/children, although collages can be made for just about any theme. I've attached a photo of one of my jobs so would happpy to hear some feedback if people think this is a good service or not. (nothing nasty please). Thanks Ric http://www.photo-collage.co.uk
