Odd 'solvent' smell coming from kitchen??
Borderlands replied to MrsMc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A few days a go a man from Thames Water came to the house and asked us whether there was a chemical smell in our kitchen and I said there wasn't. He told me that there had been a complaint about this (but obviosuly not from me) but because I had not seen this thread on the forum I knew nothing. He explained that there had been work undertaken on water pipes and I think he said the wrong sealant had been used and the chemical was getting into the water. He also said if this smell occurred that those affected would need to contact Thames Water and report it. -
Yes, last night was bonkers - no warning about the pending closing of the stairs, and everyone going up and down trying to work out their options. Didn't feel safe at all - very narrow and wobbly with so many of us. Wonder why there is no display about what they are planning to do with the new build? Are they still going to demolish the main wall on Platform 4? That would be such a shame - it's such a great structure. Many years ago I took part in a massive public campaign to save the station from total demolition: it was saved and the new fencing was put up along Champion Park, then neglected for many years. Hope some refurbishment is planned of the station-proper and not simply a load of money thrown at flimsy new/fashionable new build.

Don't want to be flip in the light of all the fear of appalling vandalism and utter recklessness of what is going on - but what ever happened to the grills and shutters that use to be pulled down to protect shops? Don't they do any good at all?

She may have done, recognise the name from a friend who does go there - must be hiding away from the anxious patients who are faced with hostile "frontline" staff who really do seem to regard patients as the enemy. The surgery's idea of what constitutes a telephone consultation would be funny if patients weren't generally ringing because they're frightened, confused, in pain - etc. Glad I don't go there, the whole place seems shambolic.

I am not registered at Melbourne Grove but I know someone who is - having found other GPs had full lists. I went along because this person was so anxious about what happens there following Dr Johnson's retirement - and I could see why when I there. I really think my friend should move to another GP asap, but my friend now has begun to fear any contact with doctors at all. And to think, these are the kind of people who might control the NHS purse- strings!!! Be afraid, be very afraid.

I've heard rumours that there's either a planning application or possibly something to do with the removal of mature trees down the end of Ivanhoe Road (the cul-de sac end) that's happening this Tuesday possibly up at the council officers in Tooley Street? Has anybody heard anything along these lines? A number of mature trees were taken down a while back, much to local outrage. Thanks
