Just a domestic cup I think - not the copa del ray. The other one.

Yes, not exactly the sort of behavior to enamour you with anyone I have to agree.

Benitez was almost universally hated by every Chelsea supporter. Don't really expect anyone outside to understand. Unless they have been through similar with their own clubs.

You'll find there are plenty of us that remember Chelsea winning the cup winners cup way back in the 70s (I was 11yo) and all those years in the wilderness after that. Which makes the period of sustained success all the more sweeter. The trouble is, when you finally achieve regular success, especially when a investor unafraid of losing money comes along, this will breed resentment/jealousycontempt from other club supporters, which goes with the territory.

Mourinho will always wind some rival supporters up because he is brash and sucessful, but I think you will find that not just Chelsea supporters are of the opinion that Mourinho is a tatical genius as you put it. Some Chelsea supporters may even disagree with some of the things he says. For example I thought his comments after the West Ham game were ill-judged. I was at that game and felt that West Ham defended resolutely. We should have been able to break them down, but we didn't.

I think the board decision to sack Ancelotti was a disgrace. Deserved another season after winning the double. I knew Roberto might not be the one to take us onwards despite the CL win but once the board elected to keep him on they should have at least kept him until the summer, instead of giving us the debarcle of having Benitez in charge.

  4. Are you being serious? You are looking back on just this past season? You do realise the charity shield is only contested by the winner's of the previous season and winners of the FA Cup? And well done Moyes for beating a championship side to win that.

If your football knowledge only stretches back 10 months I am not sure what point there is argueing further. But I will agree that Moyes has definitely won more trophies this past ten months than Mourinho. I am aghast that Man United sacked the poor fellow.

LOL Mourinho a specialist in failure? Righty-oh.

  6. When I got to about 13/14 it was decreed by person or persons unknown that the girls from Collingwood school were somehow more exotic than the girls across the road at Peckham Girls. So the Collingwood lasses became the focus of our attention. Looking back, by exotic I mean they wore different uniforms and were slightly further away. *sigh* Life was so uncomplicated back then.

Posted a picture of Marley visit on Facebook a few months bacm. I will see if I can dig it out when I get home.

We used to batter your mob. And Billy Biro. Fun days.

I remember one afternoon, Sumner Road was a mass of black blazers awaiting another school's impending arrival for a dust up. Sadly it turned out to be just a rumour but the entire school regardless of year was there in eager anticipation.

Of course this was back in the day when knifes weren't carried around as frequently as they appear to be now. Yes some lads had them but they were for show more than anything else and they certainly weren't as lethal looking as the ones you get now either.

To be honest I don't think many people above the age of nine years old change their teams. But would agree with everything else.

Well if they disagree I would just say that they were wrong. However, what is a proper supporter other than someone that supports their team through good and bad times. Supporters suffer the team set backs, the rising prices, incompetent refs and off field administration and still go back for more.

  11. Most football supporters just want their teams to win. Or certainly not lose. If you are going to play expansive football you had better make sure you score more goals than the opposition. It is anyone that thinks Chelsea or anyone else with any tatical nous is going to go up to Anfield and try and play attacking football just so you lot can be entertained that either doesn't know footbball or indeed doesn't love the game for what it is. If you want to be entertained go to the opera or the cinema.

What Liverpool were missing today was a backbone. They have been poor in defence for ages but they have just managed to outscore their opposition. As soon as they came up against a solid defence or tatician they were always going to be found out.

  13. ha! Thanks! I will definitely check 'Mongrels' out.

There was also a great animated series about a bunch of lab animals that had escaped from the lab they were kept in. It was on BBC2 after Newsnight about 7+ years ago. It was hilarious but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. In fact there were a handful of great UK made adult-themed cartoons back then that just disappeared off our screens.

  14. I don't think I ever even heard of 'Mongrels' let alone watch it. I'll have to dig it out on Iluvcinema.

'Being Human' got off to a great start but then got really silly be series 2, iirc.

  15. Haha! I find those old war documentaries fascinating, seabag. Yesterday was previously the History channel I think. Or as the missus and I called it, the War channel.

Yes started on BBC2 and then shanked off to BBC3. A show so dreadful no one mourned it's passing.

Exactly. If you live in East Dulwich. Deal with it. I have lived in East Dulwich, Peckham and Herne Hill, if anyone doesn't want to live in any of those areas under their current names they can always eff off to somewhere else. I suspect it is mostly interlopers that want to change things.

  18. lol Drop the 'East' from East Dulwich? Let's drop the 'Village' from Dulwich Village while we are at it. Do the folk of West Dulwich similarly confused by their area name?

There has been talk by some of Deptford's residents of getting Deptford made part of Greenwich. The driving force for this idea is that the private homes in the area are falsely under-valued. This wasn't a issue when these people were buying of course, just now that they are selling.
