  1. Hi

Please can someone recommend any help at all about helping my 6yo daughter to grieve the loss of her grandpa? We are trying to talk to her and get her to open up but she is really struggling and it is absolutely heartbreaking.

Looking possibly for a grief counsellor that specialises in talking to young children but any advice at all from others who have been through a similar experience will be greatly appreciated. Counselling may not be the best route for her but right now I am willing to try anything.

    Many thanks

  2. Hi

I'm looking for a local art and craft class after school for my 5yo.Is there anything around??

She hated dance classes and we tried drama too.But absolutely loves creative activities which we do a lot at home but thought it would be fun to do as part of a group. We used to do the clay classes with Alison in Nunhead before she started school and she loved those.

If nothing around is anyone interested in starting something perhaps?!?

    Thanks

    Mel

  3. The Leith's class looks great.

I hope I won't get into trouble for posting this link but a few people asked for it. I am cooking Malaysian beef rendang again this Thursday, also making a veggie version this time with roasted butternut squash. If you fancy buying a portion please click on the link. Anything you want to ask feel free to message me. The rendang is served with rice and a spicy cucumber salad. I love cooking it. It's going to slow cook all Thursday afternoon until the meat is tender.

  4. My Thursday menu isn't uploaded yet but if you use this link and type in your postcode it shows you local people cooking a huge variety of dishes. You can pre order online and then pick up from their homes. It's a great way to try different food and to meet your neighbours.

I signed up to be a cook as I love cooking and I can't be the only person around this area getting incredibly sick of pizza and burgers at every turn!!

I can post my beef rendang menu when it goes live, hopefully tomorrow. I make it for our annual Street party and the huge pot goes down well and I usually give extra portions to friends and neighbours.

Agreed about C & R ,a favourite in my family.Satay House in Paddington is pretty good too.Sorry again for jumping on your thread Turnip, hope you find a local place to satisfy your cravings.

  5. Oh yum,now I'm also craving roti canai. I think there's a place near Crofton Park station that does Malaysian food but I've not tried it.Following this thread as I hope someone knows a local place.

On a shameless self promoting note, I make beef rendang with Menu Next Door and I am cooking my next batch possibly Thursday.I know it's not delicious roti but it'seems a tastyear Malaysian treat to spice up a winters night.

  6. They could've been buying up stock of formula milk.I've been in that store before and the manager was trying to explain to a group of Chinese people that he wouldn't serve them as they had a least 4-6 tins of formula each.I think some shops were limiting how much people could buy a few years ago.

They've had some tragic cases of babies dying from contaminated formula milk in China.

  7. We're in Peckham if that's not too far.We have an annual street party organised by our very active residents association. It's on Sat 11th June this year and we're having the usual disco, bouncy castle, cake competition and various neighbours making a dishes from around the world. Please pm me if sounds like what you're looking for.
  8. Hi Marcus,

Sounds like an interesting project.I have sent this link to our local residents association ARARA in Peckham to see if anyone is interested in taking part. We've been featured in the Peckham Peculiar a few times. There's quite a mix of new and old residents here so am sure they'll be a wide range of opinions on Peckham.

Look forward to hearing more about your project.

    Thanks

  9. I find Pinterest brilliant for craft ideas (for myself and for kids).I love the art shop in Camberwell but can be a bit pricey.I use all sorts of bits and bobs from around the house, takes me back to childhood memories of Blue Peter! For collage tear up old magazines, use paint sample cards, old cardboard boxes etc.For Xmas I'm attempting home made salt dough decorations, cheap ingredients.

Happy crafting.I'm with you on the early risers. We've tried all sorts to get my dd to sleep later but do end up getting up very early!
