  1. I have always bought Cookworks and Russell Hobbs kettles and they have generally lasted a lot longer than 18 months. I used to always start with legal arguments (I?m a solicitor) but I?ve found I have more success getting refunds/replacements by being outraged on twitter. As it?s a public forum, retailers are super prompt about dealing with complaints and overly helpful. Just a suggestion.
  2. Thanks Jeremy, good to know as I was expecting to pay a lot more.
  3. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Skyrim sounds a bit like the land beyond the wall in GOT. I have tried GTA and enjoyed that so I reckon I'll also like Max Payne. Went to my local game shops at lunchtime today to try and find secondhand copies of some of the games you have all mentioned but alas it's closed down! I had hoped to chat to the sales assistants in the store but looks like I'll have to settle for Amazon.
  4. Thanks Phobic3000! I just read the write up on Esquire and i'm completely sold on it! Sounds like a great game. I did a bit more research and some other reviews say its a third person game so i'm guessing you can probably change this in the settings. Only slight worry is that I watched 28 Days Later behind a pillow but I'll just have to man up.
  5. Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions. GTA IV and V came with the PS3 so I?ll start with those. I?ve looked into Max Payne and I can see that it is a third person shooter game so that also seems ideal and a bit easier for me. The Last of Us also looks interesting, is it a survival game? Can?t quite work it out from the online info. SE22 ? thanks for the recommendations but I don?t think I understand everything you have written! Google is my friend ? I?ve always been a bit anti- Tomb Raider despite having never played it. I guess I always assumed it portrayed women badly but I?ll check it out and see for myself :) Thanks again all!
  6. I have just, at the grand old age of 28, purchased my first games console. The PS3 came with about 30 games but most of these are first person shooter games which I?m finding very difficult to master or football games which I find a bit boring. I like the idea of shooting type games but I?m guessing games with a third person view would be easier to play. Can anyone recommend any games which would suit a newbie? Thanks Eleanor
  7. A few years ago I stayed at The Hotel Mozart right by the Spanish steps. It was lovely and very Roman! At the time it was about ?60 a night but I'm sure it will be a bit more now.
  8. Can anyone please recommend a studio that provides martial arts classes for adults in the afternoon during the week? I've so far come across a few martial arts studios but they only seem to provide classes in the evenings (which I appreciate is when most people who do not work from home are free). Thanks
  9. Unless I've missed something, OP didn't say the bad tenants were DSS
  10. Well done Mick Mac! Has anyone tried Slimming World? I've been doing it since 5th January and have lost 5lbs. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but given that I've been able to eat more or less what I want while following a few simple rules I think it really works. I'm pretty sure I could lose a lot more in a shorter space of time if I cut out my mid-afternoon chocolate bar and wine but I'm pretty happy with the pace so far.
  11. Thanks James, The link worked and your menu looks great! I'd never heard of Grub Club so thank you for introducing it to me. I'll see if I can rustle up a date and will definitely spread the word! Eleanor
  12. Hi James, your supper club sounds very interesting and a good way to meet other local residents! How many people do you tend to cook for and are they generally locals? Can you repost the link as it didn't work Eleanor?
  13. London's in desperate need of additional housing and I also agree that too many than too few is better.
  14. I don't think it's fair to say the OP shouldn't post about her experiences. Just because a business is local doesn't mean they should be immune to criticism when a customer feels let down. In this instance, Mason and Green have replied and given their side of the story which is only fair and other people have also shared their experiences which were actually positive.
  15. LQ, I have to say I was disappointed as well because I was expecting the Brixton standard but I didn't dare post about it on the forum because I know that any comments about local businesses which are not entirely positive are not well received here, regardless of whether or not they reflect your experience. It's quite possible to love ED but still not enjoy a meal/service in a restaurant. As a number of people have said that they enjoyed their meal at FM, I will give the place another chance as it could be that the chef/staff were having an off day when I visited.
  16. Thanks for the recommendations, it's always great to hear of places to try in the area :)
  17. Jeremy/Edcam, really? Not sure I believe you! Can you recommend any places (other than Angels & Gypsies)?
  18. Funny how a lot of the negative posts on this thread are from people complaining about negativity.
  19. I can recommend my boyfriend, Adam Holloway. His website is http://www.adamhollowaymusic.co.uk/Adam_Holloway_Music/Welcome.html and he teaches flute, clarinet, saxophone and piano. He lives in West Dulwich so should be fine with home visits in ED and he's also CRB checked. While I'm obviously biased (!) all of his students do well in exams and he has a 100% pass record.
  20. Can anyone recommend a mobile hairdresser specialising in Afro hair, cuts, weaves and relaxing hair who covers Dulwich?
  21. The Rosendale is open but that's West Dulwich.
