  1. I'm looking for a builder to carry out extensive repair work on an old house. It needs re-plumbing, re-wiring, and doors replaced. I need someone really flexible and reliable, who can give good advice, and who has a good team. Thanks for your advice!
  2. I had lots of books to donate to the HH Oxfam bookshop a few months ago. I phoned them, and they told me I could drive to the rear of the shop, where parking is easy. They gave me directions, and came out to meet me when I arrived. They were very helpful, and grateful for the donation. So it's definitely worth ringing them!
  3. Hi all, I'm doing some long-term financial planning, and looking for recommendations for a local Independent Financial Advisor. Have you ever used one, and do you recommend them? I always like to get personal recommendations where possible, and I'd be really grateful for any ideas. Many thanks!
  4. Brilliant, thanks so much! J 🙂
  5. Hi there, does anyone have a recommendation for a good local launderette? ED, Nunhead maybe? Many thanks! J 🙂
  6. Does anyone know if the Honor Oak beacon will be lit for D-Day tonight? Thanks!

  7. I've just objected on the Southwark website. Good luck! J
  8. I totally recommend Elliot from Langley Carpentry. He has just installed a hanging guitar holder, and a large mirror, on the wall of our music room. We're delighted with the results. Elliot was punctual, friendly and efficient. He also suggested a brilliant solution to a problem we had with one of our walls - and the end result looked much better than my original idea. We'll definitely ask him back to do more work in future. Many thanks Elliot!
  9. Thanks BB - really useful to know! J :-)
  10. Friday 13 August at 10pm. My son was mugged by a man with a knife, on Piermont Green (opposite Peckham Rye Park). He was unhurt, but his phone was stolen. I have reported this information to the police. Description of person involved ? Wearing: Hoodie and tracksuit trousers. Age: Around 20. Build: 5ft 9ins tall. Ethnicity: Black. Sex: Male. Other details: Wearing a face covering.
  11. We've had some post for E.Marle wrongly delivered to us (Upland Road). Please pm you if you know / are her. Thanks!
  12. Have signed and shared. Good luck Lou! V :-)
  13. Wonderful! Well done Dillan and Rocky! :-)
  14. So sorry to hear this - what a horrible experience for you both. Glad you've reported it. Have you reported it directly to Veolia as well? They should investigate - the man is clearly one of their employees...
  15. Brilliant idea! Have donated and shared. Good luck Dillan and Rocky! J :-)
  16. I agree - and if we want to give practical support to NHS staff, here's a link to the King's SOS appeal: https://supportkings.org.uk/sos
  17. Brilliant! Well done Mirash, and thank you :-)
  18. Thanks DKHB - The problem is that we've got a huge backlog now, and I think it would overwhelm the driver! Yes, I'll have a look in the store - maybe they have got them again now... J
  19. Does anyone know where we can recycle plastic carrier bags now? We had to use them for our online supermarket deliveries during lockdown, so accumulated quite a backlog :-( Thanks! J
  20. We recently had quite a bad mouse problem. We were impressed by the above reviews for Critter Solutions and contacted them. Roger and Elliot were brilliant. They came round promptly after we contacted them, and then weekly until the mouse problem was solved. They gave us lots of really useful info, about safety (for pets etc), the poison used (not as cruel as the old-fashioned ones), and how the whole process would work. The mice are now gone. Roger will come back if we have any further problems within the next 18 months. Roger and Elliot are great to have around - polite and friendly, and very efficient. Roger also has lots of fascinating anecdotes about his many years in the pest control business - an added bonus :-) Many thanks to Critter Solutions!

  22. We've had things delivered by our milkman stolen by foxes - bread, margarine etc - until I hung up a bag in the porch so they couldn't reach them. We also have a cool box - with a well fitting lid - for the milk bottles. This is safe enough on the doorstep, against foxes. But in your case it seems unlikely that it was foxes - I doubt even the cleverest fox could steal two glass bottles of milk, without breaking and spilling them! So it does sound like humans :-(
  23. Signed and shared - good luck! J :-)
