  1. I would highly recommend Adam and his colleagues from AP Garden Services who came this morning and cut down a very large yucca tree and removed the trunk and roots of a large fan palm. They did a great job and were very friendly and polite, and their rates were very reasonable. I would definitely be happy to use them again for any further work.
  2. We have recently used this repair shop on Chadwick Road for a very bad scrape and dent down the side of our car (skip versus daughter - skip won!) and want to highly recommend them. They did a great job at a very good price, and were very friendly and polite. We also used them a few years ago for another mishap we had. Cant blame the daughter for that one!
  3. I'd like to recommend Roger and his son Oscar who have recently cured our squirrel problem. They came out a couple of times a week until it was evident there were no more squirrel invasions in our loft and then blocked up the hole. They were both lovely to deal with and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. And they have given us an 18 month guarantee too. Telephone 07518 577977 Lynne
  4. Climbing wall? We took several kids of similar age to the one at Mile End - easy on the ginger line. It was very well organised and they had a great time. Google search shows up some nearer to our area now which might be worth checking out.
  5. Another recommendation for Glen from me too. I have a six year old fridge freezer and the fridge stopped working over a weekend. Rang Glen on the Monday morning and he came out same day and gave me some advice. Although the fridge was working again, it didn't get quite as cold as it should be so he came out again and discovered there was a small part that needed replacing. He tried to source the part but it's not longer available so he made a small alteration to a flap which means the cold air from the freezer can now reach the fridge properly and I have a working fridge again. I spoke to him over the phone a few times that week and he came out twice, all for one call-out charge. I was very impressed by Glen who is also a lovely person, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
  6. I want to recommend a lovely man, Clive, who came out to my house this morning after I woke up with no electricity downstairs. The RCD switch had tripped and I couldn't turn it on again. He reset it by turning the other trip switches off first and then turning them all on again. I found it was my oven so that switch is off and everything else is working. Clive wouldn't take any money. Such a nice man! C&G Electricals, 07831 349332. Now I need a cooker repair man!
  7. Hi Londonary, there was a post on on the Lost and Found section of this forum by Henry Oswald of a tortoiseshell cat found in Nunhead on 13th June. It looks very much like yours! On a second look, I'm not so sure but worth you checking. Fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks Sue. I reported it myself on the 101 number when I got home and they are calling me back within 24 hrs to take a full report.
  9. I left my shopping bags in the trolley (alongside two other trolleys already there) in the space near the door in Sainsbury's Starbucks earlier today, and then sat down for coffee on the comfy seats further away. It was a stupid thing to do, and I've been doing it for years, and when I went to leave I discovered the bags had gone. I thought it might have been taken by mistake at first but there was no other trolley left in its place. I went through the cctv recording with the security man and we did see the bags lifted by a woman who had just walked in from outside, took the bags, and walked out again. She was accompanied by an older woman with a shopping bag on wheels and they left straight away. I had assumed the point of going through the cctv was so we could then see where they went outside but there are no cameras in the car park so it was a bit of a wasted exercise, except for me to know they were deliberately taken. So, this is just to make you all aware there are thieves in the area (said with a wry smile). Luckily for me, it wasn't my big shop, just a ?35-ish top-up - bad enough.
  10. Latest update: "BT have advised they are continuing repairs to the damaged cables. It is expected that services will be restored throughout today as the cables are replaced".
  11. I have the same problem. I'm in Nunhead and our exchange is New Cross. Talk Talk are sending me updates via text and this is the latest: "BT are continuing their work to repair the damaged fibres following the vandalism. Due to the amount of work involved there is currently no fix time available". On their Service Status page it says "Some customers across the London area may be having problems making or receiving calls, due to a major BT Openreach cable break. Engineers are on site working to restore service."
  12. The greengrocers on Evelina Road, near Kristal Pharmacy usually has trees but I don't know if they are selling them yet.
