How much to get a gas cooker connected ?
David B replied to KidKruger's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I need to have a gas hob connected (and the old one taken out, which was installed 25 years ago with a flexible hose fitting - works fine but not compliant with current regs apparently). Any recommendations for a gas safe engineer? -
Nico - recommendation for great plumber

I'm another Nico fan - quick response and no fancy talk to persuade me to spend unnecessary cash. Highly recommended. -
We are moving and need to empty our fish enclosure. We've had the two goldfish for probably more than 10 years; they are healthy and feeding well. One is pale gold and the other a rich gold with a bulbous body and long, white 'feathery' fins - probably measuring about 9-10 inches in length. Please telephone 0208 2992631 ASAP to arrange collection (please bring a container). Available today (Saturday) or Monday.

Wanted: Roofer recommendations (Urgent)
David B replied to Ellie78's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Also just wanted to add to the recommendations for Nick. He's a delightful, very relaxed guy who was happy to attend to a blocked gutter (far too high for me to get to) - albeit a very small job. He came at very short notice and was happy to return the next day to collect his money as I didn't have any cash on me at the time! Would use him again with no hesitation. Highly recommended. 07966 285679 -
Happy to add my support for Nathan's work: he came and fixed our boiler (Ideal Classic - 10 years old) with no fuss, at short notice and no call-out charge. his charges were very reasonable and he's very personable and good to chat with. Highly and confidently recommended! To repeat: Nathan from HeatFirm on 07505006032

Just to add my experience of Mark Best. He has been very impressive in his patient and detailed response to my queries following his site visit and subsequent quotation for a series of jobs. Curiously, perhaps, we haven't engaged him in the end as we opted for an almost identical quote but from someone with the added reassurance of recommendations from close friends. However, it was a close-run thing and I would have no hesitation in recommending Mark as an electrical contractor worth serious consideration.

Nico came and replaced a leaking, seized up kitchen tap, which I couldn't budge! He completed the job very efficiently and even had a replacement tap on his van, which was very convenient. Very good price and he happily returned a day or so later to collect his money and install a cover to the hole vacated by removal of the soap dispenser, necessary as the new tap collided with it. He is extremely affable, with tales of Kefalonia and the Cotswolds making his visit entertaining and relaxing! He even managed to broker a possible sale of our house the next day through chatting to a new customer - if it works out before going to an estate agent the champagne is on us!
