At a guess, down the Rosendale, leering at random punters, and telling lies about me.
  3. Oh come on people, get a grip, stop being so bloody reasonable. Pavement cyclists need to be stopped, and stopped NOW.

  5. God, can you people not read? I found it odd that someone would go online and ask for someone to board up a window, rather than either a) doing themselves, b) asking a few other neighbours for help or c) using Google or the Yellow Pages. As it happens, no recommendations came in, so it was all a bit pointless, wasn't it? And hey, I'd just been called an odious little sh1t and a heartless bastard, so being sarcastic about their abilities with English seemed like a good response.

  8. Good grief, you are a sad bunch, aren't you? I fail to see why I'm getting all this abuse, unless it's just because you like it. I asked the original poster why they didn't go and sort it out themselves, what with it being pretty easy to do ie. not rocket science, and I get called an odious sh*t, a heartless bastard and now a... well, whatever it is you can't find another, less censorable way to say, edcam. Come on folks, enlighten me, why is it sh*tty and heartless and so on to suggest a better, more neighbourly way to look out for someone?
  9. Hahahaha, slagging people's spelling and/or grammar off is the sign of one who knows they haven't got a leg to stand on!
  10. Exactly, the whole thing just seemed a bit skewhiff, a bit 'two cheers for being nearly helpful'. When my neighbour got burgled, I rang her (she was on a late shift), and rang the police, then when they were done, I scared up some planks of wood from other neighbours (which also gave me the chance to warn the neighbourhood what had happened) and helped her cover the window, and sat with her for a few hours until her husband rushed home from Birmingham.
  11. I just saw something that would have made me point and laugh if I hadn't been driving at the time. Two cyclists, approaching the junction of Croxted Rd and Thurlow Park, one on either road's pavement, heading towards each other, one talking on a mobile. Neither gives away. They crash into each other. Last seen, as I drove past, standing in the middle of the pavement, bikes dropped, and shouting at each other!
  12. Let's face it, EDF has always had a reputation for being snotty and rude. I've lurked here for about a year before joining, and in that time I've seen some spectacularly unpleasant behaviour. I joined the other day and posted, and within a day was being called 'an odious little sh*t' and a 'heartless bastard', because I made a mildly contentious point. I'm no fainting violet, but I can see why many people would find that to be unnecessarily rude. To be honest, I actually think the two posters who were rude to me misunderstood my post - if English isn't their first language, I can recommend a course - but that doesn't give them an excuse to behave like morons.
  13. I don't know, I'm not a cyclist, but I'd presume a good place to start would be the cyclists. And no, it's obvious to a blind man that shared space doesn't work. But one thing is for certain, cyclists seem to think that because they feel threatened by motorists, it's Ok to pass that threat onto pedestrians. That has to stop.

Yes, n/a, no, more cycle paths, and more responsibility/less selfishness taken on by cyclists...

Which is why I'd be popping round to the neighbours with timber and hammer and nails myself, immediately (and indeed, did so last year), rather than going online and trying to get someone else to do it. Or are you deliberately missing my point? But hey, woman expresses opinion on net, gets called odious little sh*t and heartless bastard. Friendly lot, aren't you?
  16. At 3 minutes to 10 on a Friday evening, I think I'd be able to find bits of timber and nail them carefully to a window frame faster than it'd take to go on a forum, post a slightly odd request, and wait for the answers to roll in! Also, like ElmGrove says, the insurance company hotline should be the second port of call, after the police...
  17. Erm, why not do it yourself? It's not exactly rocket science.
  18. I know, from extremely painful experience, that the holier than thou attitude of cyclists after they've hit you, on the pavement, makes it all the worse. I was hit, very badly, by a guy on a bike a few years ago by Sloane square. His reaction to my lying, bloodied, on the pavement? "Look where you'r fucking going, cunt!", as he cycled off. That's the f-word followed by the c-word, by the way.
  19. Yeah, there's two women at work who live in Bromley and Beckenham, but come to CP and ED at the weekend to eat and/or buy stuff?
  20. Just a point EmEd, why did you move from, well, wherever it is you moved from, if you want an area with the sort of high street that features all the usual shops you get in Everytown UK? ED is a very different sort of area, one that a lot of folks move to precisely because it doesn't have the sort of high street you seem to want. To be honest, there's something ringing not quite true about your post...
