  1. Any luck sorting it, just wanted to know as my wife insiats I was wrong!
  2. Nothing new, it will be the tube next, something that we have come to expect, as some people have no choice, and they know it! Would it not be nice to hold a city at ransom for extra money just when you feel like it? Not!
  3. watch this space, this was what was said of ED, Nunhead, Catford, and in times gone by Clapham and Battersea.

  7. Hi pps Happen to me in the past kept stopping at the rinse cycle and just retained all the water in it. Had to manually drain. After wondering what had happened thought to check the filter, which I never knew it had until I read the manual. Did this and it was clogged with fluff. Cleaned and replaced it. Just started working fine.

Yes Dulwich Fox but comared to minicabs this goes to the Black Cab, they do not have to pay for a circuit or commission. However they did work hard for the pleasure to become a Black Cab Driver. However as with all traded there are good and bad. I was stuck in traffic with a customer for 30 mins only to find a road closed in central London. I had to turn round, saw a Black Cab with a cutomer in the back and told him the road was closed, but he just sat there. HUM

The thing about some cab companies they know that they have got a lucrative position, and a place to order cabs where they know there are not many options. Unfortunatly for the driver although the miniumum fare may be ?6.00 as it is with many firms the drivers have to reimberse the company of the extra ?3.00 as commission to their company, on top of this they are charged a weeky rent that can be in excess of ?150.00. So this is very hard on the drivers. I used to work for one of the companies mentioned and know for a fact how it all works. The special holiday rates started on Christmas day (usually double fare), Boxing day (fare and a half). New years Eve (double after a certain time of the day to 06:00am) then New Years day (fare and a half). This is generally the norm for all companies. However it must be remembered on these days the drivers have to pay an excess on their usual weekly payment to work these days. Total exploitation. One would think they are raking it in but believe me they are not, there are really much jobs on these days that are cash, mainly account work that for example the company charges on a normal day ?40.00 for a job to LHR yet they pay the driver ?28.00. So in all respects the driver is at a loss. As with the company that serves King's, they used to serve Dulwich Sainsbury's, but they did not get the contract it was taken by Forest Hill Cars. Even there the drivers got ?5.00 of the ?6.50 that was the minimum + rent to pay.
  10. Hi It does sound like the filter is clogged up. This is usually at the botton of the appliance behind a clipped on panel. On removing this you should see an unscrewable filter unit made of plastic. Remove this after putting some old towels down and clean this if need be. Replace it exactly how you removed it. If the filter is already clean on removing this is not your problem, but if it is hey presto. Thanks Mason
  11. Hi Just a note sometimes it could mean the seals are not sealing the fridge doors properly having this can cause over freezing. Or the other common problem is that the thermostat is gone. I would actually check the seals of both the fridge and the freezer to ensure that they are clean and the points of contact with the door seal and the fridge/freezers are also clean. Make sure that there are no splits as well with the door seal. I know this may or may not be the solution, but it might just work! Regards Mason
  12. Hi I used Sylwester, a friendly and really reasonable priced builder, who does exactly what you want.Very trustworthy, and reliable 07588 728775. Check out the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Woodbookers-Construction-Limited/619117161473881 They are honestly hard workers who while doing my house, my insistance was I needed the shower working before work, which they made happen, and even made a temporary kitchen in the lounge while working on the Kitchen. They then did the lounge, added a downstairs closet room which was a godsend.
  13. Yes it is difficult sometimes for drivers to reach a destinatian when there is traffic and more importantly when the drivers are stuck behind waste collection truck. Drivers although they try hard can be the brunt of acusations because they are a few minutes late, and on occasions are even left out of pocket through no fault of their own. It can be hard, but when someone uses you twice, in one year, and actually says such things when we know and try hard to provide an excellent service, can be hurtful, and almost considering the power of this forum, ruining, is even more disheartening. We try to provide an excellent service for our customers on all occasions, but this was a situation beyond our control, and incidently the customer involved did not use us as she booked another car service after refusing to get into our car. Incidently our driver although late never picked up the customer because of the agressive behaviour and refusal to use us. Both sides of the story need to be told, as our customers who know us in East Dulwich have the confidence to continue to use us. I would state in the circumstances we have a service that is endeared by our customers, and would request if anyone is not happy with the service, it is simple, do not use us again, we have barred this person for the behaviour showed to our driver, as we also have self respect for both our drivers and our customers.
  14. It is a sad fact that life has become so unimportant, we rush to get things done, to get to places without a thought of anyone else apart from ourselves. I am a driver, and would like to stress a careful driver, but there are lapses in judgment that are caused by the distraction of trying to reach a destination that, five minutes faster, but things have changed. There are far more vehicles and far more cyclists on the road. I am not trained, and the cyclists are not trained, and now I notice pedestrians are not trained to cross the road. I do find myself surrounded at times especially on Brixton Road by cyclists all vying to be ahead of the queue, it is sometimes like the start of the tour de France. On top of this you have pedestrians walking between the vehicles because they can walk 5 metres to the lights. I sometimes cannot move from a traffic light as I have a cyclist on my right, left in front and rear. Then you have the idiot impatiant drivers who have now resorted to hooting the horn once the amber light appears once the light changed from red. On top of this you have the pedestrian who, although the red man shows starts crossing with a pram on a phone, then you have the school mums who think they can cross between the the traffic to save the one minute extra walk to the crossing or those who see a bus and who just run out dodging the traffic. On top of this it is a worry when I have indicated for the past 50 metres ahead that I intend to turn left, but the cyclist does not slow down because he is in the bus lane that I cannot go into until the junction, but as he got his speed does not want to stop. Then the pedestrian who does not check if a car is going to turn into the road that i am turning into as they just walk out into the road. It is a continual vigil, which I undertake and many sensible drivers take, but caution can also be a danger, as drivers cannot check everything. It is really really difficult but in all this, drivers have to be mindful of other vehicles and the laws as well. We all need to work together, and all need education to make our roads safer. There is good and bad in all off us, it is the need to understand as time passes we have a chance to enjoy life, but if we try to rush time we may meet death. When you take all this into consideration, what laws or redress do either pedstrians or cyclist have apart from their own lives and why be so frivolant. Is it not a matter to be more mindful of your own actions, be more patiant, learn the rules of the road, and this is not just to cyclists but to pedestians, cyclists and drivers.
  15. I will second the view about Croxted Motors. I am a man, but do not know much about cars but enough to know if a car would pass an MOT. However they insisted that certain things needed doing without informing me and replaced tyres that were really not worn. At the time I assumed that as they were approved I never took notice and paid. My second, and I knew I was taking a beating here and was stupid. My radiator thermostat had gone and I knew this, but they ended up, according to them, changed the head gasket, replaced the radiator, and fitted new pipes. The cost just over ?1500.00. I did not mind as I was under warranty, so I did not personally lose financially. However in addition to this I noticed that they remove the rear window sticker and replace it with their own and add a strip of heavily sticky strip of advertising on the number plate, the reason for this is the assumption other people would make is that the car was purchased from them. With regards to MOT repairs, they or any garage should officially fail the car and issue with a certificate with the faults that failed your MOT, leaving you with the option to have the car recified yourself or by them or another garage. They have abused your trust and politness, have in essence conned you, as you have no evidence that any repairs were not needed, and they know this, they prey on ignorance. They should have never have actioned repairs on your vehicle without confirmation from you and most especially only after you have seen the official certificate and given them approval. It does not matter if they could not get hold of you on the phone, thay wait till they see you. Demand your money back or go to trading standards. Funnily enough I also found Austin by chance and he is a star, and his son goes out of his way to make time to squeeze you in even when they are busy. I have now used Austin for 2 years and they are brilliant, the most I have ever had to pay were for some brake pads they he failed me on when I went to collect the car. He gave me the fail certificate, never insisted I have them repaired with them, but told me they needed doing quickly. I did still have days on my MOT so I went home. Went back the next day got a good quote from them Had them done. He showed me the pads after allowing me to watch him take them off. Wow that is how things should be done. Honestly and with a passion for the work done, not just money.
  16. Took a friend there, it was nice the service was attentive, but not intrusive and the food was really nice. Please keep it this way Pretty, do not get in to the habit off what usually happens. Well done!
  17. Hi Did you sort out what you needed. Thanks Sunil
  18. Hi James I have as a driver and pedestrian found the Goose Green roundabout the most riskist and dangerous spot. To have Zebra crossings on a congested roundabout so close together is just so dangerous.
  19. The reality is we cannot stop this, beacuse of our wanton need for fashion at the prices that Britain cannot compare with. The worker, for example in The eastern countries are paid a wage that int their eyes can feed their family, and pay for their rent. By stopping this and asserting the values of the western way off life, just cannot happen it is an economic disaster to them, they would be out off a job, and replace by someone who can do it more cheaply. You can see the same conflict that is happening here. Unions inthese countries are unable to ammass the power as they have had within the western nations as populas, and need for money outstrip the need to survive over the need for greed. If Primark increased it childwear product to the similar price comparison to Mothercare, which would you choose? I personally would choose Mothercare, beacuse I think this is quality, and longer lasting, but the same product proberbly originates from the same country that Primark produces it's clothes, but is more stringent. So as we go back to basics it is value of what we can afford or what we can spend that will drive the market.
  20. Been trying to buy east Dulwich from Southwark council for ages, but for so long have been unsuccessful. I thought this was a Manor that will not only be a good investment for the future, but as a place to find land to build my country house. Southwark unfortunately keeps on halting my plans, and by restricting me to park in so many locations on my envisaged high street, restricts trade, and have really have not helped my future neighbours with the lack of accessible residential parking. I want to encourage trade amongst the local traders by providing at least a 30 minute parking allowance on the high street so one can pick up their essentials, and for all to have an actual residential parking zone, free for those that pay the local taxes that everyone works hard to pay, outside their own homes. Having said that, I do believe the loss of the Police station is a real shame, and some more suitable means to be in touch with the community should be found, and is required. Only last week I was called upon by someone who asked me for a cigarette while walking down my street, and when I said I did not have any, he became very verbal. The other change I would conceive is the Goose Green roundabout. It is the most dangerous and hazardous zones for both pedestrians and vehicles as well. We need to put traffic lights, or keep the roundabout, but do not have the crossings on the actual roundabout. I then talked to M&S about setting up an outlet here, but they just seem to be really meandering on what to do as everyone keeps on complaining about the effect of their lorries on the surrounding roads., but then Iceland do not want to get out of the area as it is quite profitable. Now to the nitty gritty, I love East Dulwich, and feel that we have plenty of properties for sale that the Government can get their tax on, but too many people are highly pricing to keep up with the hype, yet I see many good properties on the market at rates that are comparable to the average market value. People should realise if you want to live in London, and that means anywhere in London, the prices are going to be exorbitant to what one may consider affordable. East Dulwich for all it is just that, East Dulwich, not Picaddilly, and I hope does not turn into a Clapham. I just hope it retains the charm and not lose the community that made it East Dulwich.
  21. Oh Dear What a palava, if anybody states they need a reset and reboot nowadays there is a partition disk in all computers that you can reset and set your computer back to factory settings without a need of a disk. It is usually ctrl and a number. Failing that you just need to look online for a reboot disk that can cost you anything between ?3.00 - 15.00 dependant where you buy it. Thanks Mason
  22. Just read this and thought does gossip not make a community, if not has a big part in building this?
  23. The Estate is a nice place to live in most of the people have bought their properties, and are hard working. I do not live on the estate, but on the Sunray estate, but have seen the change, which is so clear. Whichever area you plan to live in has it's elements whether it be good or bad, but you have to live in it to experience and cope with it. My son was mugged in Dulwich village on a Sunday inbroad daylight on a summer's day while with his friends, this happens unfortunatly whereever you are, as it it is the sign of the times of wanton greed. You will enjoy living there, and the facilities around the area are so abundant you will never want to leave. Thanks Mason
  24. I have used Danjo's Skip Hire, they provide a quick drop off and pick up when you you require it. They can be contacted on 020 3124 1697. I think they are located in Croydon. Thanks
  25. Yes I must say, although it is small, they really do know how to make people welcome. The jazz is always a nice way to enjoy a drink!
