  1. Thank you all again.
  2. Good idea! Thank you.
  3. Seen lots of blackberries around growing wildly. My dad used to grow gooseberries in our garden (going back to the 70s) back can't seem to find them now.
  4. Thanks for the headsup Peckhamgatecrasher! Never thought of a charity shop getting a make-over before but this one does need it!
  5. You could try the Southwark Council main switchboard number on 0207 525 5000 and ask for information about parking zones in the area. If not maybe ask the people who are living in the property at the moment? Good luck as communication with Southwark about parking is sometimes a bit hit and miss!
  6. Have you knocked on neighbours doors either side, alongside and across the road yourself to see if they saw anything or have CCTV?
  7. Depends on the hours you are travelling of course but at 3 years old children are interested in what's going on around them so maybe focus on this and the time will fly by!
  8. Sorry to hear this and saw a poster up at the top shops a few days ago. I loved walking past and talking about this lovely little and bright car and can't imagine the audacity of the people who stole it! It was such a feature of the local neighbourhood.
  9. Could you not go along and visit? Maybe phone their office and arrange something?
  10. There's always loads of kids and coaches around in the morning and at school pick up time in East Dulwich Grove/Townley Road. Considering most live miles away that's why they need coach spaces?! Trouble is some of the coach drivers are inconsiderate about where they park for drop off and collection and this causes problems in the area at peak times.
  11. Probably the sun-setting after today?
  12. I buy a pack of batteries from Poundland and replace my watches and other things which last for ages and certainly more than a week.
  13. I'm so pleased that your Mum had her purse returned and that good people still exist in the area! Wherever something likes this happens it is a shock to the system. My daughters went off to Barcelona on Monday but have already had their purse and other bits stolen on the metro etc. I warned them beforehand but as long they are ok and back at home!!
  14. A few drops of Fairy Liquid on the stain, let it soak in for an hour or two, then wash as normal and hopefully should work.
  15. Southwark and Lewisham Council both have a list of childcare providers on their website so maybe have a look at any nearby and then contact them for availability.
  16. I just handed out party invites after school or whenever to parents and wouldn't expect teachers to have to.
  17. Came through this way by bus on Saturday and was stuck on a bus for ages from Walworth Road through to Camberwell and saw this bike activity on the green and all around the immediate area. Not sure what it was but as you say hundreds of kids/young adults on push bikes (no helmets). I only saw a couple of Police on foot but it seemed a good atmosphere.
  18. Wow, that was probably so surreal for you and something to witness! I've never given rats a thought but had one (apparently they are solitary animals as learned this later from poo droppings) in the attic. At the same time had a wasps nest and thought it was the sweeping sound coming from the nest. Then the scratching/scurrying noise came along waking me up every morning above my head at 3, 4, 5, 6am every morning and I got to the stage at not wanting to go to bed at night! Had pest control in and they could say it was one rat as there were poo droppings in one place. Apparently, rats do their poos in one place unlike mice who poo everywhere!
  19. Yes, looks like after implementing the North Dulwich/Denmark Hill parking zone that Southwark are moving onwards and upwards into other areas! Can see from the Bessemer Grange School area (where you can park before 12 noon or after 2pm) that Southwark have probably had complaints from people living next to Sainsburys or in surrounding streets near East Dulwich train station that they can't park their cars. It does seem a strange boundary that Tooley Street have made out but they must have their reasons!
  20. I would definitely cut out the daytime nap as she is 3 and a half and then cope with the side effects later to help with the going to bed routine. Also try to curb the bottle use (is it milk?) and not to introduce any liquids that would interrupt a sleep pattern.
  21. Could he be trapped next door somewhere? Are there occupants in the house? I've had workmen next door to me either side over the past 9 months and the workmen tend to leave doors/windows open/ladders up the wall etc. which could be very enticing for a cat? I'm sure he will turn up safe and well.
  22. Who is the inconsiderate person/s letting off a spate of fireworks heard far and wide ten minutes ago?
  23. Never cast a clout until May is out! So we have had some recent nice weather but the council probably have a budget to stick to.
  24. Yes a dog walker was told to leave the park early this morning due to it being suddenly closed off for an incident.
  25. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes, the Council has waited until the last tenant > is no longer resident - they passed away. > They've nearly secured them - they had some > squatters. They then propose to build some council > housing. How sympathetic you are James!
