Hello, I live in a terraced house on Ivydale Road in Nunhead. I would welcome any recommendations for a firm of builders who can help with doing up the external front facade of our house and the small street-side front garden (between house and street). It would involve arranging cleaning of the brickwork and repointing), repairing and painting external sills and woodwork, tidying up some external cabling hanging loose on the front, rebuilding a small brick wall between us and neighbour, laying new tiles for a new front path, installing new iron railings at front of property by street. Its not s huge job, but I would like a firm who can co-ordinate everything (i.e. arranging all the scaffolding, arranging the brick clean by a (separate) contractor if needed, arranging where we buy the iron railings from separately for us etc). Hello We are just finishing a house project on Ivydale Road in Nunhead. We have a relatively small stair case - ground to first floor in a straight direction. The staircase was carpeted but the carpet has been pulled up as it was very old and is ruined from the works. The staircase underneath appears in good condition but has old yellow paint on it. We would like this sanding down back to the wood, so it can be stained / varnished and some carpet can be laid as a central strip on the stairs with the renovated stair boards exposed on either side. The stairs may also need a little light filing and prep prior to staining. We have other handyman / sanding jobs if interested. Please PM or text me on 07958 310072. Hi Alaska721, I've just been reading your various posts on the site as your project seems (or seemed - if you are now finished!) very similar to one we plan to start works on in early 2016. You also seem to have progressed yours in the same way we have been - i.e side return, architect, structural engineer, tenders, living in property during works etc etc. If you were able to let me know, I just wondered who your builders were? Hello, we live in a house on Ivydale Road, Nunhead and are starting some works to the ground floor of our house this October. As a result, the garden will be largely ruined and will need re-doing from scratch next summer (2016). In the meantime however, we would like the garden (which has not been tended to since we moved in November) generally sprucing up for this summer. We do not want to do alot given the works in October but want it to be nice to enjoy for relaxing and bbqs etc this summer. I am guessing it is no more than a full day (perhaps 1.5 days') work, but best if you look. In particular, it would involve the following: 1. tending to some overgrown flowerbeds; 2. perhaps repairing some fencing; 3. any other ideas you have for this summer only, at a relatively cheap cost; and 4. spot gluing a large rectangular off-cut of artificial grass I have sourced on top of some crazy paving in between the flower beds (I have spoken with the manufacturer and they have said this is the best temporary fix). Early in the New Year we are looking to instruct builders on a job that potentially involves removing part of supporting walls at the rear and side of our house. If it is feasible, it would certainly involve installation of some RSJs. I would be interested in (1) recommendations as to local builders from members on the forum; and (2) direct contact from any building firms who are interested in visiting and quoting.
