  1. Really nice man. Very professional and top quality work.
  2. Reliable, communicative handyman who can turn his hands to seemingly any task. Fitted blinds on his first visit and mended our garden fence on the second visit. Quotes upfront. Will definitely use again.
  3. We urgently need a new lintel inserting above a large ground floor window so we can fit a new window. Any recommendations please??!
  4. We moved last week from North Dulwich to Honor Oak. I chose Pask's because I really liked their videos on social media. They ask you to send a video of the inside of your house before quoting. They were all young, hard working and extraordinarily cheerful throughout!
  5. I can thoroughly recommend the independent Estate Agent Urban Village in Denmark Hill. They sold our house in North Dulwich and recommended a solicitor, surveyor and decorator - all were excellent. Their commission was lower than all the chains as well!
  6. Dave is hard working, reliable and reasonably priced. He's also a really nice guy to have in your house.
  7. 4 Zampe on Facebook (Marianna). She?s walked our dog since she was a puppy - reliable, lovely and clearly adores dogs.
  8. I've had children at GG for the past 10 years. I've seen it go through a number of twists and turns, both in terms of staffing and Ofsted reporting. But there has never been a single day when I have regretted sending my children to Goose Green. It has a wonderful 'heart', has introduced my children to a wide variety of friends and they have both grown into emotionally intelligent young people because of this. The sports, arts and music facilities are also a great bonus. I'd recommend you visit the school, as I did all those years ago and see if it's right for your child.
  9. Another positive plug for this local resource! My 11 year old loves Drama on a Saturday morning and the classes have done wonders for her self confidence - especially because of the mixed age group lessons. I can highly recommend!
  10. All Small businesses in the UK need to fill in this form if you are with HSBC - nothing to do with nationality. It's a new formality. If you can bear it, go into a branch and ask them which box to tick.
  11. .....who turned right out of Burbage Road onto Half Moon Lane at 9am whilst texting - the cyclist you ran off the road at the zebra crossing whist we were all screaming at you to stop is OK. Thought you'd like to know. Could have been a child. You looked up and drove off. Have a nice day. **** you.
  12. I've used a few painters and builders recommended on the forum, but Dave Franklin and his team of merry men top the lot. Excellent work, stuck to the quote, cleaned up, friendly. Can't fault a thing. We had some light building work, plastering and decorating and wood flooring fitted. He even helped us move a load of furniture into our loft at no extra cost. Very quick to respond by text. Dave - 07956 688622
  13. Bravo, Matsikula! What our schools need is positive community support such as this, which starts with the parents of course. It's amazing what this can achieve.
  14. Keep voting ! It would be such an achievement for the school.
  15. Yes, James is right. Sharron Marland will leave the school in excellent shape and that includes a strong leadership team and pro-active governing body. Anyone who knows Mrs Marland will know that she will have planned this meticulously! If you are thinking about applying to the school, I suggest you attend one of the open days and ask any questions directly. I've had children at the school for 7 years, so if you have any other questions - please feel free to PM.
  16. I know it's Monday and it's cold and dark, but if you see a very heavily pregnant woman on the train (and a number of you looked up when I spoke to her), please at least offer your seat, if only to restore my faith in humankind.
  17. I have two children at the school and think that if you want your child to be well educated and cared for within a community school that strives for excellence, then look no further.
  18. Anyone have any experience of publishing a book and selling through Amazon or similar outlets? Physical book rather than digital only. I would really appreciate some advice! Please PM me if you can help. Thank you!
  19. Loving the positive attitude GipsyMama! It was no doubt a similar bunch of parents that helped to transform Bessemer Grange and Goose Green into the oversubscribed schools they are today. I'm willing to bet that Langbourne will head in the same direction with parents like yourself on board!
  20. I have a friend who has accepted a place at Langbourne and is very happy with her choice. If you are focused on results, then perhaps not the school for you - but a new head, great facilities and look at all those clubs - it's even got a chess club! My advice would be to go and visit and canvas some opinions for parents with children already at the school rather than listening to some contributors to the forum who have probably never set foot inside the school gates......we were in a similar situation a few years ago when we accepted a place at Goose Green so I know what a bunch of willing parents and a new head can do to improve a school. And I also know that being part of that change is the most uplifting experience I have ever had! Just a thought.
  21. I can also recommend Terry who worked until 7.30pm on a Friday night to fix my broken velux window blinds. Service with a smile and great value for money.
  22. We want to extend our kitchen and would welcome any advice regarding planning consent, architects and builders. It's not going to be a huge extension - under 200 square feet. I've no idea how long the process will take so any advice/experience welcome. Many thanks!
  23. We moved house last Friday in the blizzard. Bridges removals were amazingly helpful, efficient, cheerful and cheap. I can't recommend them highly enough. We also booked Colin the handyman (07754691541) to remove some fitted units on the day. I'll definitely use him again. And finally - although I never thought I'd hear myself saying this - I have to recommend an estate agent.......Of all the agents we dealt with in the chain, Roy Brooks were streets ahead in terms of efficiency and accuracy of information.
