  1. Please join the Friends of Ruskin Park at the launch of "John Ruskin Lived Here", an exhibition about John Ruskin and his associations with Herne Hill, curated by Lambeth Archives.

The exhibition is part of John Ruskin at 200 - a free festival of events and ideas to mark the bicentenary of John Ruskin's birth, organised by the Friends of Ruskin Park. The evening will also feature poetry readings from workshops inspired by John Ruskin and the park.

This event is free, but please let us know you're coming by booking here:

  2. Does anyone have any experience of the nursery at Lyndhurst? I saw a sign about it outside the school but can't find any experience on the website. My son is 2.5 and I'd like him to go to nursery when he's 3. We are in the catchment area for the school, but don't know if this would make a difference re. the nursery.
  3. We are planning a two week holiday in the summer while we get some work done on our flat. Our son will have just turned 2, and is very active. His wonderful childminder takes him to loads of activities and he loves all the normal things - trains, fountains, soft play. We can't stay at home but don't know where else to go - we think he'd be bored with two weeks in a villa or a cottage, and we can't afford anything as extravagant as CentreParcs, as this will almost certainly be during the school holidays. We don't have a car but could hire one if necessary. Has anyone done anything similar, and can you recommend a holiday destination?
  4. I think I have left it too late ... but I'm hoping to go away over the easter bank holiday weekend, or any time in the week 1 - 8th April (when our childminder is away). We have a 2 year old and would prefer to go somewhere within a couple of hours' drive of East Dulwich.

Can anyone recommend somewhere? My dream would be a cottage by the sea, but really anything that is toddler friendly and a change of scenery would be great.

  5. Can anyone give me any ideas for what to buy an active (crawling) one year old boy for his first birthday? We live in a small flat with no garden and very little storage, which complicates things! I plan to get rid of some of his other toys which are baby focussed. But what will engage him now and last a few months at least? Is he too young for a train set?
  6. Hello

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find any recent threads ... I am looking for a venue for a naming ceremony. Ideally a pub or a cafe with a private room for hire, that is wheelchair accessible, kid friendly and within walking distance (eg 30 mins) of Denmark Hill station.

I have looked into community centres but they all seem quite big for the crowd we're expecting, and I'm also not sure we'd be able to cope with catering it ourselves.

    thanks

  7. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm looking for a recommendation for a pub or a cafe for 8 adults and 2 kids (1 baby and a four year old) to drink/ wile away a Saturday afternoon! We were going to go out for lunch hut some of us are on a tight budget, so we are trying to find somewhere to meet for a drink instead. Are there any family friendly pubs that might have space to accommodate us?

I am the one with a baby, and while I'm an expert on east dulwich cafes, I don't know anywhere with enough space for 8 adults and a toddler as well.

    Thanks
