  1. Hello all, Just a quick query - had a lovely time at the Goose Green fayre on Sunday. That was a nice surprise to open my curtains in the morning and see it! Thanks to everyone involved. Because I'm greedy, and because Mrs Myrmidon missed this years (again!) I was wondering if there were plans for any more? I seem to remember the last two years there being one in early July? Will this be happening, or was it moved forward to May this year? Basically, I want another! Cheers for any info Myrmidon
  2. Hi all, i'm a local professional video editor looking for some additional freelance work. If you would like your holiday footage, or wedding footage perhaps, turned into professional bespoke movies (at a very reasonable rate), then drop me a PM to discuss things further. To see examples of my work, please go to www.pkr.tv and see my day-job output! I'm a friendly, creative chap who can turn your raw footage into that special movie you can share with your family and pals. So please, if you or anyone you know are interested drop me a mail! I also have access to a camera, so if you are looking to have an event covered, i can shoot/chop/and ship out pretty much whatever you need. Cheers Graham Thomas [email protected]
  3. ironic that i call myself 'myrmidon' and yet, when attacked, i certainly do not act like a one. Unless it was a myrmidon who didn't actually fight with Achilles, but stayed back on the boat and sorted out the admin - "no no lads, you go ahead, i'll just ...er...hang back here, i simply have heaps on at the moment, after all, these tablets won't file themselves" :)
  4. I play at Hamlets which has three courts and it's pretty good. Pros 1. Never had a problem getting a court, even booking on the day for a (usually busy) 7-8pm slot 2. Pretty cheap - 10quid for non members 7 for members - 3.50 each isn't bad 3. Locality 4. The private lessons are supposed to be quite good - i think it's 20 bucks for an hour one on one...worth checking though Cons 1. The court surfaces are fine, but the walls are a little worse for wear - could use a re-plaster 2. The bookings arent regulated too well, and often you have to ask people to vacate as they have run into your time - on the whole though, everyone is usually happy to leave the court when their time is up (probably because they are exhausted) all in all it's a pleasant, hassle free experience. Can't speak for the Dulwich Squash Club though. Hope this helps Cheers Myrmidon
  5. Hi all, thanks for your concerns - i'm alright, despite a sore jaw, dented ego and a username that needs serious reconsideration... ...emailed the Safer Neighbourhoods Team (thanks for the tip Shaw74) and am awaiting a response. I feel a little regretful that i didnt report it instantly as they culprits could've gone on to find more success last night and perhaps I could've done something straight away to prevent it anyway, we'll see what happens with the sweeney. Cheers Arnold J Rimmer
  6. hey Boppers Just a quick heads-up = about 20 minutes ago three guys attacked me and tried to steal my stuff! this happened at the corner of Hindmans Road and Uplands Road - difficult to describe the bastards as they all jumped me from behind and tried to stamp on my head, however they seemed in retrospect to be quite amateur as my screaming to high heaven and thrashing like a hooked trout seemed to have scared them off. I got lucky, very lucky as i was carrying valuable stuff and for what they did, compared to what could have happened was little more then a roughing up Please, be careful when you are walking home at night - i was playing my music too loudly to hear anyone around me and so i think that was a factor - not trying to preach or anything, just take measures to make sure you are safe as you would a loved one cheers Myrmidon
  7. "it's just a Costa Coffee that serves cocktails" was my mates rather astute observation. Everything about it was undecided which is a shame given it's location etc. On entry we were greeted by a ridiculously over-friendly barman akin to those awful Somerfield adverts in which the staff 'go above and beyond' to enhance the customers experience but, instead, come across as overtly creepy stalkers. I mean, don't get me wrong, i love friendly and welcoming staff, but when, every time, i go up to the bar to get the round in, i am repeatedly introduced to every barman working i feel like i have somehow been duped. They clearly will not remember me, as they have asked my name three times in 4 hours. so why introduce me to the staff who have no real desire to do anything other then serve drinks and get their shift over with. Its the falsity of the situation that makes it all very uncomfortable. start as you mean to go on i say, and i really hope they haven't gone by that path. as for the music...Killers, Greenday, Boy George, Withney Houston, Baywatch Theme in that order. Whatever your identity, state it from the get-go, don't 'um' and 'err' and try to make everyone happy. cocktails were wank too

Agreed, this series is brilliant - luckily my housemates are Australian and brought the DVD over with them - been out a while over there. It's really re-watchable (if that's a word) I've seen it endlessly and each time find something new - the extras are all spot on too Not sure who my favourite of the 3 characters played by Lilley is - changes each time. But Mr G executing his evacuation policies is hilarious. Gonna have to whack an episode on now.
  9. Jukebox is a great idea - funny how things like this, which once were requisite, now feel like unexpected luxuries Inside 72 was class, and really provided a good alternative to the other bars on LL (which are also great in their own right) Perhaps, if your staff are up to it, you could just get them to plug in their ipods or summat and create a much more eclectic freewheeling, and personable style to your place. Just an idea As long as it's late licence, has a personality of it's own (and not just an amalgam of Black Cherry and The Bishop) you should do well. Good luck to you and we'll all be there on opening night fo defo. is say go for it because you clearly have a love of the area and a desire to do this - as Elvis once said, "ambition is a dream with a V8 engine"
  10. bon3yard - granted, that's an unfortunate look but sheds no light on this whole 'wog' meaning scot business. also, does 'cunt' really hate women? or is the word just a pathetic old sexist fart?
  11. hanloochieB- is that right? every day is a school day. Where does the 'wog' aspect come from then? fuck - i just completely misread the original post and confused 'wog' for 'wop' - tut, how could i confuse my racism terminology Anyway, I am curious about the origin of porridge wog - i don't understand it at all, and clearly i was fumbling in the dark, misguided by a short life of mal-education. The origin of words, phrases and slang is something i relish. Hit me
  12. just for the record, why is the 'c' word forbidden? I can only assume that if one says it or writes it in public domain, that some hell-beast will leap from our monitors and enslave the human race in bondage (and not the sexy type of bondage you Kelmore Grove dark horses)
  13. Bon3yard - i just spat my tea all over the place at your post - 'porridge wog'? what the hell is that? i can only imagine it's a cheeky cockney knees up way of saying that you're an Italian that has done some stir - with seemingly unintentional use of such a racist term as 'wog'. If you were going to go for it, would you mention their time inside? and if you did, would you call it porridge? Poor Ronnie Barker and the post watershed plans he had
  14. he should've said Yo Sushi...but that might've been too obvious. I'm sorry that 'the wife', lest she have a name, suffered this indignation and i hope it didn't upset her too much. Still he was an old fart, so luckily ageism is still fair game. 'ism's are fun
