Following various recommendations on EDF, we booked James from Press Play Productions (http://www.pressplay.org.uk) for my son and his friend's 6th birthday party. James teaches the kids various circus skills in a very fun and captivating way. I can't recommend him highly enough - the 25 or so kids were completely rapt, and everyone joined in. He somehow managed to learn the kids' names and got them all involved. We are still getting comments from parents and kids about how great he was. The contact number is 0208 771 5075.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get jeans shortened? I need someone/somewhere who can pin them for me and alter them. Any places I should avoid?! Thanks

I have a rug that I would like to have cut down, and then the edges to be finished with taping. Does anyone know someone who can do this? Thanks

I would highly recommend Krzysztof (Chris) Niemiec on 07854863977. He did the electrics for our ground floor extension and main bathroom last year, and we've just had him back for our other bathroom. He's usually really responsive, a lovely guy, and really hard working (and of course qualified!)

I would second the recommendation for EJ Carpets in Forest Hill. Super helpful, great advice and good job on fitting (they fitted carpets for our whole house).

We need someone (I suspect a handyman?) to deconstruct/remove an old greenhouse from the end of our garden. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who might be able to help? Thanks!

Just wanted to post an update to this - we've had a project ongoing with S.L.E.L. for a long time (hugely overrunning). Bogdan just confirmed to us that SLEL is going into liquidation, and we may hear from the liquidator shortly. Has been a really, really nasty experience, and our project is far from finished. Won't post full review/saga here, but PM me if you need more info. Would advise others to be very careful re ongoing work, and certainly not to use them for anything new.

I called Niko having read recommendations on this forum. We just had a very stubborn kitchen drain blockage. He came quickly, worked hard, was informative and charged very reasonably. He came back out without charge when we called him again because water was moving slowly again. All now resolved and I would recommend him.

Ooh, can I join on Tuesday? I have a 15 month old, and a second due in April! Have only been in ED a couple of months, so very keen to meet some people in the same boat!

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable plumber? We urgently need someone and have have tried Niko and John Powers (who consistently get good recommendations on this forum) but they are unavailable or booked. Thanks in advance!
