  1. There is a baby two months younger than my daughter so it shouldn't be a problem. She just said their circumstances have changed so I just assumed it's not working out for them. Thanks for your advice M. Hopefully we will find someone soon.
  2. Hi just wondering if it is normal for a childminder to decide not working out after the settling in period? we are new to this and feeling huge disappointment after hearing the news this morning... Our little one is a bit fussy (all babies are no?) but don't think she is particularly difficult! Poor thing will have to go through the same thing again when we find a new childminder :(
  3. Tom from TandTGardening came to clear the rubbish for us! Reasonably priced and very efficient. Highly recommended!
  4. Hi we are looking for someone to clear and take away garden waste and other rubbish in our garden/front of our house this weekend. It should be a 1-2 hour top job. Please DM if you are interested. Many thanks!
  5. Went last night for the 2nd time, really enjoyed the food - fresh, original and tasty. Agreed the music was a little loud, but the staff turned it down immediately after the couple sat next to us complained. We had 5 dishes and 2 cocktails, the bill came to around ?50 incl service. Not cheap but worth every penny. Definitely go back for more.
  6. >> What I'm saying is that the Chinese aren't eating shark's fin soup because they don't care if it goes extinct, they're doing it because they don't believe it's going extinct, and that it's just the authorities lying to them again. I would like to point out Hong Kong people are well aware of the extinction. Shark fin is not something you cook at home or get a takeaway from the shop round the corner. You usually get that in a banquet, esp weddings. So it is up to the host of the banquet to decide. Most of the time, the host (esp older generation) would choose to serve shark fin soup because it shows that you can afford it. If you are not serviing it in a banquet, you are considered as mean so you will lose face. I must say things are changing now. There are alternatives to shark fin soup in most of the restaurants in Hong Kong. I have been to a few banquets that have no shark fins soup served. Guests are equally happy. Not sure if the same change is happening in mainland China tho.
  7. I agree with Narina. >> Why should they bother - they have a policy that they stick to which supports the environmental campaign that they believe in. They have had 1 complaint in three years and other posters have said it encourages them to remember to bring an alternative. How do you know they only have 1 complaint in the past 3 years? Do all the posters here represent everyone in ED? The complaint is about her being a customer was called lazy and forgetful when she tried to communicate with the shop. G&B is right in terms of sticking to their policy, I think the OP would agree. But who do they think they are to punish their customers by calling them lazy and forgetful??? I dont think it is acceptable.
  8. Went to Goodmans with work a few months ago. The Chilean wagyu ribeye special was certainly the best steak I have ever had. Good selection of starters as well. The tempura king prawns with mango salsa were surprisingly nice, consideing it is a steak house. Also recommend the Goodmans ribeye. Highly recommend The Ledbury. They used to serve one of the best value lunches in town. For 22.5 you could get 3 beautifully cooked courses. Hmm the soffule was to die for... I think they have put the price up to 33.5 now. The dishes are classic, but creative at the same time. Service has always been excellent for both lunch and dinner.

  10. We looked at a few venues locally including Beauberry house. The building + outside area look nice but not impressive. It is not expensive compare to Horniman and Dulwich picture gallery but I don't think the interior make up the difference of the price. We went there for a Sunday lunch to try out the food. They have managed to undercook my lamb (brown on one side and the other side was raw). I complained to the waiter but no exchange/apologies offered. I have only been there once and never went back. We got married last Saturday at a venue in Roehampton. It is not local but it ticks all the boxes on our list. We had a faboulous day:))
  11. >>Apparently, I still have to measure the rice, wash the rice, add salt, measure the water and turn it on, just like I have to do with my prehistoric saucepan. I was a least expecting it might blow me off or something afterwards. But no. Have you seen the latest series of rice cookers the Japanese and Chinese have developed? they can do all sort of things. Brown rice, sticky rice, you can even use it as a steamer. I bought mine in HK and I use it most days. And no, you do NOT add salt to the rice... I am not saying everyone should invest in a rice cooker, I believe you can cook perfectly tasty rice from a saucepan. But using a rice cooker doesn't make you a lazy person.
  12. I have been taking the 0751 train for a long time. I can always get on the train. You just need to walk a little bit further to the end of the platform.
  13. I think Addison Lee is quite expensive for going to airports. Try Airport Taxi : 02077014321. I booked a taxi to Heathrow for ?35 (Addison Lee quoted ?65). Hope this help.
