  1. Our cleaner Ann Louise is just incredible. Reliable, trustworthy and thorough. She lives local and cleans locally.I also found her via a recommendation on the EDF 07852 688050
  2. My renault kangoo is having problems which we have narrowed down to being an electrical fault. Anyone know of any value for money car mechanics who specialise in electrics?
  3. Also there is a winter bird walk on Valentines day at 9-1030 at Sydenham Woods http://www.wildlondon.org.uk/events/2015/11/13/winter-bird-walk-south-london?instance=0
  4. Come and join us at 10.30am on Sunday February 21st for a not-too-stenuous 'work day' with your neighbours doing some clearing up and litter picking. All are welcome (kids included!). Meet on the old tennis court in the middle of Green Dale. Don't forget to wear suitable clothing (including gloves) and footwear. Hot drinks will be provided! Run by Friends of Greendale. Check out the photographs from previous work days at http://www.friendsofgreendale.org.uk/photographs/
  5. Neil is an experienced carpenter - hung all our doors properly as well as fitting our bathroom. He's created bespoke shelves for friends of ours who were delighted. He typically works for very 'high end' clients with high expectations ;) Neil 07533506062
  6. Green Dale bird walk. Meet 9.30am Sunday November 22nd by the gap along Green Dale footpath. Google map at Green Dale is the green space behind Dulwich Hamlets Football Ground. Guy Haslam will lead a leisurely bird walk around Green Dale, talking about the different species to be found and hopefully identifying a number of birds through their appearance and songs. Beginners and children more than welcome. Bring warm clothing, good footwear and rain gear in the case of inclement weather. Binoculars might be useful but are not essential. The work day will follow straight after at 10.30am. We need volunteers to help with cutting and other basic Greendale maintenance works. All in all a great day out in the environment, meeting your neighbours, without having to leave London!
  7. We've had a BT engineer in to 'fix' poor connection 6 times in the last 9 months. We've called about problems dozens of times. We even asked BT to cut our contract short (without the fee) and they have ignored us. We've given up. It was buffering like mad last night so we tethered the TV to our mobile phones. Rolling eyes.. we're moving to Virgin cable as soon as possible.
  8. Also having water problems. There was a leak on Arnould Avenue and another up by Dog Kennel Hill. Just a bad time for pipes freezing then splitting. We've had cloudy water and low pressure for about 2 months now..
  9. Whilst I'm here.. I thought I would highly recommend speaking to Naomi, based not far from City Thameslink station if you're looking for a Counsellor/therapist in easy distance from East Dulwich. http://hearandnowtherapy.com/
  10. Hi all, I live in a 2 bed flat and although we're happy doing hoovering and cleaning surfaces and the usual shallow cleaning each week (which takes us about an hour- the flat is pretty small) we would like some help every two weeks from a cleaning to do a better clean; with dusting, occasional window cleaning or oven cleaning etc. I've contacted a couple of cleaners and they want us to sign up for a weekly clean, not fortnightly. 2 or 3 hrs per fortnight is more what would suit us. Does anyone know a good, trustworthy cleaner who would be happy to do that? We're based in East Dulwich/Denmark Hill way. If not, no biggy, we'll have to decide how much we want a cleaner (or perhaps be a little bit less lazy!!) and go from there. Thanks! _________________________ Thanks for a wonderful response - Steve got in touch earlier on this afternoon recommending AnnLouise so she's coming for a consultation next week. cheers everyone :)
  11. Wow, I'll put my head back under the covers again! I realise that generating a sustainable community is so much more than carrier bags. But doing ANYTHING is a chain of doing really really small things which add up. This post is just about one single issue. Not using plastic bags wont save the planet, but using hundreds of them in year and lobbing them in the bin wont help. And anyway, supplying less plastic bags will save ED businesses money. Makes economic sense. Glad to hear loads of us reuse bags already. Bring on the ban. Educational video for all those freedom lovers preferring choice to "dictatorship" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZnw-d_Axy8
  12. Totnes in Devon did it.. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2007/may/12/uknews.waste Could it be done in ED? How? There would obviously be some exceptions (butchers/fishmongers).. Thoughts please!
  13. Bummer! The second one I cant make! Look forward to eventually coming to one! Moved in in December- this group is a great idea! nicole
  14. Chicken is tastier anyway ;)
  15. I moved to the Champion Hill Estate last month and have been struggling to work out where to put my motorbike. This week due to strong wind, it's been on its side twice. Any ideas about what I can do? Or anyone know of any garages/part garages I could rent? The TMO have some but charge ?27 a week! When I viewed the flat the double yellow lines weren't on the road. Now because no other cars park there it becomes a wind tunnel. I wrote to the council to ask for some dedicated motorbike parking. They said: "Unfortunately this can not be progressed as it is out of scope of the local parking amendment project and we not do have any projects this can be progressed through. There are significant costs associated with making relatively minor adjustments to parking layouts, those costs include site assessments, preparation of drawings, public consultation, council decision making, project management, road safety audits, traffic order statutory consultation and, finally, the actual changes to road markings and traffic signs. In view of the above, having discussed this with the senior engineer, shall be closing the file in regard to this matter." Thanks Southwark Council.. Any short term/long term ideas?
