  1. Niko is fantastic, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Reliable, trustworthy and a skilled plumber; then on top of all of that, very reasonable charges and a nice guy too. We've used several different local businesses in the past and no-one has come close. I get that the person above is annoyed their call wasn't answered - I don't know what the circumstances of that were - but Niko's always been a great communicator with us and an honest, trustworthy guy. Maybe he was busy, maybe there was something going on in his personal life, maybe there was an issue with the phones - who knows. Don't let it put you off - he's a great plumber and a reliable guy who has often gone the extra mile for us without question. For anyone needing a plumber: Niko, 07818607583.
  2. Thanks for that fredbear. Were you replacing like-for-like or was it a change of style? If I could just follow suit that would be so much better than going through all the hurdles they've put up now...
  3. I'm a leaseholder with Southwark having the freehold, and am looking to replace my old box-sash windows with something warm and dry in time for winter. However, they're not in bad enough condition for Southwark repairs to replace them (they would only give a fresh coat of paint) so I'm looking to do it independently but with their permission. Has anyone got any tips on going through the process of getting Southwark's permission? Seems I'm going to have to fork out ?400 for their permission, then an unspecified amount for surrendering my lease and having a new one reissued where they're no longer responsible for upkeep of the windows. Annoyingly high for something that's clearly in both our best interests, but if I have to do this then I will. Does anyone know how long the process takes, how much is costs and whether I can go ahead and get the work done while waiting for Southwark to do their bits?
  4. Does anyone have recommendations for a local company that could either replace my existing (rotting single glazed timber box-sash) windows with UPVC double glazing, or install subtle secondary glazing inside? I'm on a fairly tight budget so nothing too fancy, just a reliable and honest local firm who will do the job well and as quoted.
  5. Hi, I've just moved to the area (Oxenford Street) and inherited a very poorly fitting back door with small window alongside. I'm looking for someone to build and install a nice replacement - ideally wooden with double-glazed panel and matching for the side window. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking to get this done asap and would be really grateful for any suggestions people can make. Thanks in advance.
