It's not a local solicitor otherwise I would have. Just spoken to Royal Mail on the phone, the route has only been "partially covered" since Monday so who know if it will actually get here at all. They've recommended I go down to the sorting office but given recent reports I don't know if that's going to help.

I'm awaiting a mortgage deed in the post from my solicitor that he posted on Monday - if it takes much longer our house purchase might fall through as we're on a very tight deadline. I wonder if I can claim for that...

I'd recommend Alex from Crown Joinery (www.crown-joinery.co.uk) for any carpentry work. We had a new front door and staircase form him and both look fantastic - we've had a lot of comments on both. Pricing was very reasonable too, the quote for both the stairs and the door was the same as the quote for just a door from one of the more "upmarket" door companies (who I think have gone bust since). I didn't realise how rickety the old staircase was until the new one was put in - a vast improvement!
