Atanas did my bathroom for me last year and I am still thrilled with how it looks. Job involved replacing bath, shower, sink, shower screen and all associated plumbing, new lighting, wiring in a lighted cupboard, tiling (lots as I had picked metro tiles) and painting. I will definitely get him back to do my kitchen when I can afford it. His phone number is 07809 776638.

The consultation wasn't very well advertised from memory, I think I had to go and find it online. I got the same email as the above, but I had written to the council to object as well as taken part in the consultation.

I just got an email from James McAsh saying the CPZ for Dulwich Hill isn't going ahead. In the email it says:- I recognise that the council’s previous proposals fell short. Through the course of the consultation, residents in many areas told us that they did not need or want controlled parking. We listened to these concerns and undertook more work to understand parking pressure and traffic levels in these areas. This work supports the view of residents that controlled parking is not currently needed in the Dulwich Hill area.

Doesn't exactly give one confidence in ordering anything that needs to come via Royal Mail though does it? Would everyone redeliver? intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "others, which were attached by elastic band to my package, for houses further down my street" > > that does happen occasionally ,and TBH I think it's pretty forgiveable at the moment . -

At the weekend I received four items, one for me, the others, which were attached by elastic band to my package, for houses further down my street - and not just next door, the highest number was twenty doors further down the street. I played postie and re-delivered them.

I wasn't trying to be all snowflakey, but there's no need to go making out one group is the only one to suffer when the vast majority of people are adversly affected in some way by the financial mess the country is in. The policians all seem to go on about "hard working families" as if other groups don't matter, I don't understand it. Maybe they think they are more likely to change who they vote for at the next election??

I wouldn't read the lack of comment on EDF as meaning people didn't care. To me if just felt inappropriate to be discussing online, it's not like there was any lack of clarity about the culprit or concern about risk to other people in the area so what was there to discuss? I went into the French Cafe where she worked and donated to the collection they were doing for her family to help them look after her daughter and passed on my condolences to the staff, that seemed a more constructive reaction.

Why only families? Do people who live alone not have energy bills or mortgages?

Fourth day on the trot receiving post. More deliveries this week than the the previous month. Today's delivery included a small parcel (not a tracked one) that I ordered well after posting hours two days ago, was dispatched yesterday. Seems the extra staff someone mentioned on the thread are making a differnce on my route at least.
-
I have had post 3 days running this week, up till now this year it's been once a week so seems to be improving a bit.
-
I got a parcel today that was posted about 5 weeks ago as well as having had more Christmas cards this week. Still not convinced I have had all the cards yet.
-
A small improvement this week in as much as I have had two deliveries of post rather than just one large one. On the negative side I am still getting items posted pre Christmas and think there are still a few more of those to come. Today's delivery did include a couple of items posted last week - which is still poor, but better than sent last month. To the point about tracked deliveries, I agree. Ordered a couple of items in the sale yesterday and I have been told to expect them tomorrow. Tracked of course.

HELP - Half-house? Freehold or Share of Freehold?
indiepanda replied to eviehfarleigh's topic in The Lounge
I live in a half house and it as Toldyouso describes. To keano77s point, my house shares a water supply with my neighbours so we have one stopcock in my house and they need a spare key in case of water emergencies when I am not around. It's fine as they are lovely neighbours and I am happy for them to have it, but if I had bad neighbours then it could be an issue. It also means at times we suffer from low water pressure - e.g. if they flush the toilet while I am in the shower I can find the water dropping to a trickle. And water metering isn't an option. Other utilities are separately supplied and metered, although there was a still an issue wirh wiring for my electric meter running through their side so I can't have a smart meter without someone having to knock holes in their wall to install. I would definitely ask questions about this sort of thing before committing. I would be worried if my neighbours announced thet were moving, I might not be as lucky agsin. -
I got 4 Christmas cards in the post today and I suspect that isn't the last of them as there are some friends who always send that I haven't received from yet. Am on Underhill Road.

Agree too. The nonsense that was being posted suggesting hundreds of people had died from the vaccine needed to be deleted. If anyone really wants the facts, please go to YouTube and look at the Zoe channel and listen to Prof. Tim Spector. Through the ZOE app je and his team have been collecting amd analysing dsta from hundreds of thousands of people in the UK who have had the vaccine and have been asked to report what side effects (if any) people have suffered. This is the same app that identified loss of sense of smell as a Covid symptom and got the government to add it as a symptom that can get you a Covid test. I had a text saying something similar. Looking at Royal Mail's website it sounds like there are a lot of such scams around at present.

Potential big waste of NHS resources and people's time. Do the NHS not offer to email people about appointments instead of sending a letter? I've not had to book a hospital appointment (appreciate am very fortunate) for decades so I don't know. If they don't then the issue isn't just with Royal Mail...

garden party on hillcourt/underhill road?
indiepanda replied to Ronnijade's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not sure quite where it is coming from but no sign of it ending yet. As you say, bit much for a Monday night. -
If you own this scooter (plate S261 FGP) or know who does can you please go out to the road and get it back on it's stand. I had to reverse to avoid oncoming traffic and tapped the scooter - but I think it was already laying on its side as I couldn't see it in my rear view mirror when I was reversing, I think it would have fallen onto its right side not left if I had knocked it over, and there is no dent or brown paint on my car and its heavy enough I think it would have made some damage. I was moving very slowly as I reversed anyway. Nonetheless, I tried for ages to get it back onto the stand but could not get the stand up. I have reported it to the police who have my details, but they couldn't help with an address so I could knock on the owners door to tell them as the registered address wasn't for someone living in London and they told me to leave it where it was, couldn't send anyone to help. Apologies and I hope this message is seen by someone soon as I think its rather vulnerable lying on its side in the road.

I used Aston today to fit a csrbon monoxide alarm, new door handle and hang some pictures. He was punctual, efficient, polite and friendly and I would have no qualms recommending him.
-
Aston did a small job for me yesterday, hanging pictures and helping me carry an armchair up an awkward staircase. He was good at fitting me in at short notice, kept me informed about arrival time and did the job carefully and efficiently. I would recommend.

I started doing Ceroc (dance) 18 months ago, it's great fun. There isn't a class in the Dulwich area but there are lots of classes all over town - nearest to here is probably Greenwich on Tuesday nights but my favourite is Pimlico on a Monday or Westminster on Wednesday. You can find detais of all classes on https://www.ceroc.com/ and if you want to get an idea of what it's like then you can watch this short video: The teacher in this runs the Pimlico and Westminster classes although this was shot at a different venue. Once you've got a bit of experience under your belt there are plenty of social events, not just afternoon and evening dances but weekends away too. I can go having had a bad day at work and leave in a buoyant mood, it's a great stress reliever.

Who's been using the forum for ten years or more?
indiepanda replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
It'll be 10 years for me in July. I don't post that much but it's made my life in East Dulwich for me - the forum drinks that various people have organised over the years have introduced me to many people who have gone on to become close friends. It's a big part of the reason I've lived here longer than anywhere since leaving home. -

Rather depends who it was and how they got hold of the information. If you had provided the data to a business who has done something that was in breach of the data protection act then you could report them to the information commissioners office https://ico.org.uk/concerns/
