  1. We looked into this very briefly when we were considering buying the same car. I was surprised how tricky it is given how roomy the car is! I?d second the advice above to go to an expert on this. We had a good experience with the In Car Safety Centre in Essex, I?m sure if there is a seat combo that works, they will find it! We looked into the Multimac too as it seemed like a great idea in theory, but we were a bit disappointed with it in the flesh. We didn?t like that the infant carrier was more upright than our Maxi Cosi and I don?t think it allows for rear facing beyond 15 months either. Good luck, hope you find a solution!
  2. I do wonder, reading threads like this, if the reason I?ve been finding it easier to get appointments at DMC of late is because so many people got fed up and left! (Rather than due to any changes the management made).
  3. I can?t comment on 306 but have been with DMC a few years now. I don?t know if we have just been lucky so far, but since they have brought in the telephone triage system (you wait for a GP to call back and triage you), we?ve always been seen on the same day, when needed. It used to be a nightmare to get an appt. For antenatal stuff, I self referred to Kings, as the Midwife appointments via DMC were very limited. I see a couple of Ivy Green midwives at Townley Rd which is really convenient for me. Edited to add we?re with Crystal Palace Rd.
  4. We also found it was trial and error as to which emollient to use. We tend to use Oilatum cream for minor cases and Epaderm (which is much greasier) when it is worse. I know a lot of people swear by coconut oil, but it barely made any difference in his case.
  5. One of our sons has sensitive skin and we use Surcare powder and conditioner, which you can pick up from Sainsbury?s. It?s fragrance free (which I miss sometimes! But is a no-no for eczema) and doesn?t seem to cause irritation. If it?s any consolation, whilst he still gets the odd breakout, it?s much rarer and milder these days than when he was a baby.
  6. Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to give me your thoughts, really appreciate it. We?re lucky and have had no staff turnover at all his current nursery and it really is a lovely place. But I had a good feeling about Heber when I visited, and combined with your positive feedback and it being much closer, we?re leaning towards that. Thanks again!
  7. Ooh, I?ll check out ESPH Waffo - presume you have to be a member? I did a taster yoga session at Goose Green clinic last time which was great, so might try to do a proper course of that. Would love to join the Whatsapp group - will PM you my number.
  8. Hi Waffo, last time we did a refresher antenatal course with an independent midwife called Ariadna Sole. It was a much smaller group than the NCT classes we did first time around and only 2 sessions. It was nice to meet parents in a similar position and I thought the advice on adjusting to family life with an additional child was very handy. I?ll probably just do some kind of pregnancy exercise class etc this time around though.
  9. Hi, we?re expecting our third (eek!) in November. I really enjoyed being part of one of the baby groups with my youngest and be great to meet others expecting at a similar time this time around. :)
  10. Hello all, we?re trying to work out whether to move our son from a stand-alone nursery to Heber Nursery in September and it?s proving a difficult decision. Our son is happy and settled in his current nursery, but Heber is much closer to home, so we would spend a lot less time getting there and back. We?re expecting another baby in the Autumn, so I could see this becoming a big advantage. I?ve read through previous threads and seen comments on the size of the classroom and coats being left outside. But we?d be really interested to hear parents? views on whether they felt their children were happy there and whether you felt your child?s time at Heber nursery prepared them well for reception? Also, did you feel there were advantages with the nursery being part of the wider school? Please feel free to PM me if you would prefer. Thanks very much!
  11. Hi philosophie, if I?m thinking of the same tree I believe it was damaged when the scaffolding you mention toppled over onto the pavement some time towards the end of last year. Scary to think what could have happened if a person had been stood there at the time...
  12. Sorry, I can't help with the recommendation you're after (though I think it's a really great idea & wish my parents had taken me as a teen - could have saved lots of bad-skin angst not to mention money saved on products that didn't work!). But in case it's helpful in the meantime, I like Dr Sam Bunting's YouTube videos. She's a Harley Street dermatologist. A lot of the videos are aimed at adult acne (so the products recommended may not be suitable for young skin), but there is one on teen skin - I'll try to link to it: https://youtu.be/thqmZO-oysk
  13. We found the waterproof mats a bit of a Godsend after a few nights of (painful!) sheet changing. I got 3 washable ones from Amazon. We did use fitted mattress protectors too, but the mats did the job. Easy to replace in the middle of the night, and if you pop in the wash in the morning are dry in time for bed again.
  14. Hi Momlife, I recently became a SAHM so very open to meeting more mums for playdates (most I know have since returned to work). I have a toddler & preschooler either side of your daughter's age. Will drop you a PM!
  15. We have just under 2 years between our two, and I also do a lot of walking. I've found having a double buggy pretty indispensable (we already had the iCandy Peach for our first, so converted that to a double, which has been just right for us). That said, for the early days, I was very happy using a stroller/sling combo most of the time (it's a personal thing, but I loved my Becco Gemini for the first few months). It made hopping on even a busy bus a doddle, and was also handy when going to one of the cafes round here, many of which are on the petite side. Our eldest is now 3.5 and the double is still regularly used, particularly for longer distances - he hops in and out as need be. For shorter trips or where space may be an issue, my youngest now goes in the Maclaren, and the eldest walks or scoots. If the worst come to the worst and he gets too tired, we just jump on a bus. I did try a buggy board (Lascal Maxi), but have hardly used it. I personally couldn't get on with it, and it won't fold up very far on our particular stroller. Plenty of people do seem to use them quite happily though! Good luck with your new arrival!
