  1. I've recently had to move from my beloved East Dulwich to Streatham Hill (not ideal circumstances, but 2020 is throwing a lot curve-balls). Does anyone know of an Streatham Hill-centric message board similar to this one? I've tried a quick google but no luck so far.
  2. Has anyone been keeping an eye on the Peckham cat colony in recent months? I walked through the car park a few days ago and could only spot one cat, which is very unusual (I can normally count at least 5 on an average day). I hope they're alright.
  3. Please, please remember to check your PMs on here, as notifications are still patchy. Especially if you've left a comment asking to buy/sell something - I'm trying to sell an apple watch, someone left a comment on ym post saying they were interested, I PM'd them, and they've not read my message, presumably because they don't know it's there waiting for them. Meanwhile I'm deciding whether to wait for them or move on to the next potential buyer. Check your messages, please!
  4. Anyone know what caused the super heavy smoke on Gowlett road this evening? The firefighters were called and knocking on everyone's doors to try and find out where it was coming from, but not sure they were able to establish the cause.
  5. My drycleaners of choice on Bellenden road. Don't suppose anyone's walked past it in the last day or so and can confirm whether or not they've reopened yet, please?
  6. Look, I get it. The weather is lovely. You're bored. The kids are bored. So you all go out in the garden and play music/do DIY/pressure wash the patio/play noisy games with the little'uns. But somewhere near you, there's probably some poor sod feeling like death due to suspected corona, who's been banished to their room and their room alone for a week to prevent infecting their housemates. They're stir crazy from having been trapped between the same four walls for days. They're feverish and everything hurts. They feel dizzy and shakey even when lying down. They can't even get hold of a blimmin' home testing kit because the government's incompetency. They just want to sleep as much as possible. Please bear this in mind and try and be considerate about noise volume whilst you're outside - especially in the mornings before 10am. Not saying you have to take a vow of silence, but that thing involving cutting wood with a saw, that game involving multiple kids shouting at the top of their voices - at least wait until midday, eh? And maybe give it a rest a day or two per week? Lots of good films on iPlayer at the moment, y'know.
  7. I live on Gowlett road and for the past few days, someone within earshot of my room has been playing lots of 1930s-50s jazz: Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and right now, some soft cocktail bar sax 'n' piano. If this is you, I just want to say thank you and please keep it up! I've genuinely enjoyed it and it's far less intrusive than the constant lawn mower/leafblower/commercial dance music sounds I get from some of the other neighbors (no offence to those into those things, but every day? Really?). It makes me feel like I'm a character in a black and white film (I dress in vintage clothes and love pre-code cinema, so this is right up my ally). Also, maybe it's time for someone to set up a vintage jazz event locally once we're all allowed to roam freely again?
  8. Lost on Saturday night! Vintage neckerchief/square scarf with a picture of an art deco lady sitting on a moon (see attached pic). It was given to me by my mum and has enormous sentimental value to me. I was at John The Unicorn so it might have fallen out my bag there? There's a cash reward for anyone who can help reunite me with it!
  9. Hi everyone! Does anyone know of a good jewelers who does repairs? I have a few vintage bits that need fixing (a 1950s dangle brooch where one of the dangles has come loose, a celluloid bangle that's snapped in two, a couple of beaded necklaces that need re-stringing). Thanks!
  10. Hello, fellow EDers! I'm a copywriter based near Peckham Rye who wants to dream up zingy product names and pithy soundbites for YOU. I've previously worked as the in-house copywriter for Rokit, one of the UK's biggest vintage clothing companies, so I'm particularly skilled at writing about sartorial matters, but I'm very adaptable and am equally happy writing an instruction manual for a dishwasher or a press release for your new experimental theatre production. I've also written articles on music and popular culture for various independent publications. Do you need a blog post for your business? Some enticing product descriptions for your online store? Some technical information rewritten so even your least-technical customer can understand it? Please PM me for examples of my work and to discuss rates.
