  1. Once again I can highly recommend Aria and Danny - A.F.E. - came when they said they would and completed the task. They are friendly and reliable. Tel. 07739734895
  2. Yes, I can definitely recommend Aria and Danny - A.F.E. They're very quick to respond, very reliable and I've never had cause for concern or complaint. Tel. 07739734895
  3. I have developed sinusitis and it's becoming chronic. Does anyone have experience of using a private allergy gtestging clinic? I'd be glad to know about your experience and the cost of the tests.
  4. Steve - 07941-344137 - has just done an excellent job cleaning my carpets and rugs. He was really prompt, helpful and efficient.
  5. Luckily a neighbour told me that there are strikes on Southern, South Eastern and Thameslink tomorrow. National Express buses are fully booked, and I've had to book a taxi. Rye Taxis are fully booked. Addison Lee have charged an arm and a leg - £100+ I'd be happy to share with someone.
  6. I've just had my old Samsung laptop sorted out by All About Laptops at 140 Rye Lane. Would recommend them; they're professional and helpful. 0207 635 5400
  7. Thank you so much ianr. That's really helpful
  8. Someone dropped their set of house keys, and a Kryptonite bike lock. The keys are sitting on one of the concrete barriers at the entrance to the Park at the junction of East Dulwich Rd. and Peckham Rye (leading up to Forest Hill.
  9. Thanks, Thunderblue600. I seems really important that people come out to the vigil whether Peckham or Dulwich or wherever in South London because we absolutely need to keep the streets safe for women. These guys (and there are no women out at night attacking women or men)need to know that they can no longer get away with years of making the streets frightening and unsafe for women. There's a poster doing the rounds, and I've attached it here. It's organised by people on the nearby streets. Just opposite the Liberal Club on Holly Grove at the gates to the park. Bring candles.
  10. Late last Thursday evening a woman was walking away from Peckham Rye Railway Station through Elm Grove when she was attacked and raped by 2 men who wore dark clothes and covered their faces. The Met Police are taking this crime very seriously. There will be a vigil in Holly Grove this Friday from 6-8. Please bring a candle in a jar. https://news.met.police.uk/news/appeal-for-information-following-report-of-a-rape-at-peckham-rye-440736
  11. We had a lunch at The Lordship yesterday which was so good - the partridge with spinach and celeriac stood out - that we asked to speak to the chef to find out how he'd managed to cook the bird to the point of perfection. The back dining space is light and airy and it felt like a very safe space. A special treat.
  12. Jon Peck gets a lot of recommendations, and I've found him very helpful when I called him.
  13. I'm very happy to recommend Nick Broughton, who has just completed a built in wardrobe in my bedroom. I really appreciated the care and attention Nick gave to making sure the wardrobe really did fit snugly into the crooked walls and ceiling of my Victorian house. No mean achievement. His phone no. is 07815873373
  14. Here's another recommendation for Tony Man and Van. He and his friend did an excellent job this morning - moving all the furniture out from one room in my house and into another. They were very quick, and really careful. 07908 878979
  15. Following Eileen's message, I'm attaching an A4 version of the flyer for anyone who would like to put one in their window.
  16. I share Eileen's concern. What Peckham needs is much more social housing. We have known the disasters of the 60s and 70s tower blocks. There are so many examples of good schemes where there's a sense of neighbourhood and community - the North Peckham is a classic example of how social housing can be provided. A monster tower block in the midst of Peckham will stand out like a horrible eyesore, the flats will be anything but affordable, and the space around it won't have any sense of community.
  17. Another recommendation for Aria and A.F.E. Plumbing. My washing machine leaked, and Aria sent someone round within the hour and got it fixed. Thanks
  18. I've just had Ralph clean my hall, stairs and landing and 2 rugs. He did a terrific job, and his price was very reasonable. He didn't ask me to put up this post, I'm doing it because I was so impressed. 07402 441142. [email protected]. www.ralphandsoncleaning.co.uk. He wore a proper face mask and covered his feet.
  19. On Bellenden Road we already have a Whatsapp group which we're extending to include more residents, and we're working on identifying our neighbours who may be vulnerable. We're encouraging others on the nearby streets to do their own, as it's more likely to build solidarity with a sense of connection.
  20. Sorted! He's as reliable as ever. It hadn't crossed my mind that immediately after storms Russell would be inundated with callers, and we've had two close together.....
  21. I looked for Russell's name on the Forum just now, and Boddle's dilemma appeared. I'm in exactly the same situation. Russell did a brilliant job on my roof a few years ago, and now I have a loose slate (or two) Perhaps he's just too busy......
  22. I need exactly the same service as Nigel - I've got bags of rubble and old red bricks in my front garden. Please include me in any posts or contacts. I'm in Bellenden Rd. - tel. 07855 182906. Thanks
  23. I've just had my hair cut and coloured by Jamie, who does my two friends' hair. They are regular clients of Jamie's and recommended him to me. I have no hesitation in passing on the recommendation. His phone no. is 07886 652898. He comes to your house. He's very experienced and takes a lot of care. His charges are very reasonable.
  24. I couldn't possibly support a Weatherspoons because the owner is fiercely pro-Brexit, and has financially and in publicity supported a dishonest (not to say lying) campaign which claims this country would be economically and legally better off outside the EU. The numbers don't stack up - listen to the City, read the material from the Inst. of Fiscal Studies, and listen to the majority of voters in the Labour Party. Ask the Weatherspoons' owner if he supports a no-deal Brexit, and/or Boris Johnson. They're the most relevant questions to answer in the debate about Weatherspoons.....
  25. There's a new ice-cream parlour on Upland Road - no. 2, which has very reasonably priced and delicious ice-cream. I haven't tried the waffles or crepes, but their chocolate and banana split ices are very good. So are the raspberry and mango sorbets. It's called Sweetie Pie, and is definitely worth a try.
