Logs can't be burnt in a smoke control area on an open fire, further information on what you can and can't burn can be found on the .gov website. https://www.gov.uk/smoke-control-area-rules Even if you have a wood burning stove it needs to be an approved appliance - lots of cheaper wood burners aren't approved. Zaraband, assuming you live in the vicinity of East Dulwich then you are most likely to live in a smoke control area since all of Southwark and Lambeth are smoke control areas.
