  1. Hi, just to set the record straight?. I bought the shop some time ago, and will now soon be opening a shop of my own. I am a small independent. Infact it is my first shop. I loved the sweet shop myself, it was wonderful. I bought many sweets there myself. But my passion is dogs. It will not be a dog grooming parlour, but it will be a dog shop. A shop for dog lovers like myself. I have spent a great deal of my time collecting dog related antiques. A graduate from St. Martins College of Art, I worked in the fashion industry for many years. Please come and see what I have to offer without being too judgemental. At least I am not an Estate agent or a hairdressers?.
  2. If anyone wants to pm me I can send you photos as well. As for him not answering via website, that sounds unlike him not to answer. He did have an op recently and took some time off so maybe that is why
  3. Oops I meant to conclude, that his work is to a very high standard also. Our living room, dining room and bathroom look stunning. i would highly recommend him and his team
  4. We have used Jon Payne on several occasions. To refurb our dining room and bathroom, and lately, to totally redecorate our dining room, lay a parquet floor, and build a conservatory (along side conservatory company) I have always found Jon and his team to be very friendly and skilled. Also, to be utterly trustworthy, which is very important when letting people into your home. Jon has avery good eye for design. I am a designer myself, but I always find Jon's ideas extremely useful. Communication is excellent. We have used Polish builders in the past, who have also been great, but it is nice to be able to communicate in detail and totally understand what the plan of action is without any misunderstandings. We have had a couple of accidents, like on any job, and Jon and his team have always held themselves accountable, and rectified matters, without any 'it wasn't my fault' type of behaviour. The fact that he is very local means that if you ask him a question he will usually pop round and speak to you face to face within the hour which I think is excellent. Another thing to mention, which my husband is really keen on, is that Jon will give you a really detailed and accurate quote. When we have used other builders the quote has always been a bit vague and open ended shall we say? Jon is not the cheapest out there, but his quote is pretty fixed, so unless you have a sudden unexpected problem, you know what you will be paying.
  5. I went there with family a couple of weeks ago and I thought the decor was awful. An attempt at the classic 'mismatched' gastro furniture - an assembly of wooden chairs and tables, but so cheap and tacky, obviously a really crap buy from a clearance auction. Nothing interested to look at around the place, and I think there has to be nowadays, with all the competition. We had sunday lunch. The food, I thought, was so so, bland and unmemorable. Whereas the previous week we went to Toast ED. The food there, the whole ambience, was outstanding.
