Hi, I have a top floor flat in East Dulwich and have had a survey done which indicates that the chimney breast which was removed in one of the bedrooms a long time ago may not be adequately supported. I have contacted a chartered surveyor and now have their report to confirm this is the case, so am looking for a recommendation of a local builder who can rectify this. If anyone has had similar work done and can recommend their builder, I would be grateful. Also, I am not entirely clear if I need to get the surveyors proposal on how it should be supported signed off by building control as I am trying to provide adequate support rather than take a chimney out, however I am guessing this is probably the case.
