  1. Hello Friends and Neighbours As someone that lives outside the south circular in West Dulwich, I'm going to have to think twice about what to purchase when I see something in the classified section of EDF, of which I use view almost daily. It's not just for that but also for other community projects and services. I'm disabled and as a blue badge holder I'm not exempt on an older wheelchair access vehicle (WAV) I have. Yes we are all in it together, but I don't use it just for myself as I'm 'ambulant disabled' and have a registered ULEZ applicable vehicle, but I and others that have older WAV will be restricted even more than it is already for disabled residents. If you bought your WAV years ago and let's face it most of them don't have many miles on them and are usually in good condition as they tend not to be daily drivers. Many are purchased after the lease agreement (Motability) has ended and are offered at a discounted rate. Some have spent many thousands of their own money having the WA conversion and therefor tend to keep the vehicle, but now it can't be used unless you pay for the ULEZ charge, and if you live outside the zone but work/volunteer inside then that position becomes untenable. Yes, as an environmentalist/conservationist I'm a supporter of the charge but I feel it has been ill conceived. I'll get off my soapbox now I've had my little rant.

  4. Thanks to those who've DM me offering theirs for sale. I neither have the space for these permanently. I'm hoping my community will be kind enough to lend me some. I will of course provide assurances I will return them in providing all my contact details etc etc Kind regards and have a good weekend all
  5. Hello Friends Some not so nice person/s cut away and stole the catalytic converter of my mothers wheelchair access vehicle. It's been off road during the pandemic but I've managed to source a replacement, just need to get under there and offer it up to make sure it's the right one. I've been assured it is but would like to check asap. If anyone has a couple of wheels ramps I could borrow for a few days I'd be very appreciative if you could DM Thankyou
  6. Unfortunately my house sitter who looks after my 2 young well behaved indoor ginger/white toms will only be able to look after them half the time I'm away on a two week visit to my sisters abroad. I've never had a stranger look after them but desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm looking for any recommendations for professional cat minders (fully insured) I'd prefer if they were local-ish to SE21 West Dulwich as I prefer to support local businesses

  8. Advice needed, I want to take my cats to my quiet local park. I'll drive them there in carriers, find a nice peaceful spot in the park and let them out on the lead. I have harnesses for them both and a double retracting leash for safety. They will not be able to go beyond three meters of where I'm sitting in the park. The dilemma I have is with dog owners releasing their dogs from their leash when they're prohibted from doing so under Southwark Park bylaws. I'm unsure what will happen to the dogs if they come over to the cats or vice versa.
  9. I have lived in West Dulwich for 11 years and next door but one has a ram-shackled shed and underneath is a foxes den. I work odd hours and don't get to sleep normally till early hours of the morning (about 3am), a lot of time it can be a nightmare because the noise the foxes make around this time. If not by there calling, it will be setting off car alarms when their cubs are playing. When I first heard it my then patrner and I thought a neightbour had a large avery nearby as I thought the noise were eminating from parats and alike. I lived in rural Oxfordshire before and never experienced noise pollution from wildlife, but moving to the city it's been a nightmare. If it's not the foxes it's the magpies in the morning. Not only is it the noise but the mess by the former and the faeces they leave in the gardens, public pathways on the doorsteps et cetera I respect all life, but am an advocate of urban fox culling as they are vermin, as sadly humans will not change their lifestyle and habits to discourage foxes natural ability to scavenge I'm an animal lover, but just sometimes I wish I could shoot the bloody vermin especially when it effects ones sleeping pattern which can cause unfortunate detrimental unconscious processes. Here's one answer to the vermin, http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/hundreds-of-foxes-to-be-culled-in-london-after-christmas-celebrations-a3426776.html No doubt there will be some numpties trolling this article and I will not be following this so save your time. You may wonder why on earth I would contribute to this. It is only human behaviour that causes foxes to become a nuisance and therefor classed as vermin, and unfortunately it has had a real tangible impact on my sleeping pattern and in turn effected my mental health. I feel I'm just applying a different perspective, that's all. Thank you my most valued community
  10. I concur with above, he did a great job refurbishing and installing a new bathroom. I now get him to do all my boiler servicing on all my properties. Really nice bloke
  11. If it's Gluten intolerance then it's usually genetic and it would have been passed on to you from a previous generation. My best friends son was desperately unable to put on weight when he was about 8. He was two years older than his brother and weighed less, he kept being sick and having all sorts of stomach cramps, until they finally diagnosed him after about 18 months as having a gluten intolerance. However the hospital insisted in testing all of the family on both sides including grandparents because its a genetic disorder. They do get help with a prescription to pay towards gluten free food but even so their food bill increased by over a third Saying that though wheat and gluten tolerance can be different. You can be wheat intolerant without being gluten intolerant. For instance I am the latter as I get terrible IBS through wheat. Bread and pasta is awful, within about an hour my belly balloons up to make me look like I'm six months pregnant, and the stabbing pains are terrible. However I don't let it rule my life, it is what it is. I just adjust my eating habits.
