  1. Hi, our car was stolen last night from Holmdene Avenue in Herne Hill - Black Range Rover Evoque - reg BX12EVU. If you see it parked up anywhere local please let me know via comments/ DM. Have reported it to the police. Thank you so much!
  2. I've used HiyaCar which is a peer to peer car lending platform - worked a treat for me!
  3. Steve did a great job initially helping us plan and eventually fitting our hall carpet recently following a loft conversion. Although the carpet we chose was initially out of stock Steve kept us up to date as to the ETA. Overall a thoroughly professional service and a top bloke too!
  4. Data out this morning confirms that London is witnessing the steepest annual rate of decline in House prices since August 2009! Wandsworth bearing the brunt down 15% YoY closely followed by our very own Southwark off 12% over the last 12 months. Ouch. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2018/mar/12/london-property-prices-plunge-as-brexit-effect-deepens Anyone care to share any experiences. Anyone got any great deals?? Great news, I guess, if you?re trying to get a foot on the ladder..
  5. I'd also like to recommend Nick who carried out some work on our roof recently. He quoted within a few days of contacting him and then completed the work within a week as agreed.
  6. Hi, i'm looking for a decorator that has access to a sandblaster who can age some paint work we have on a chimney breast. Many thanks
  7. Hi, I'd like to hear of some recommendations please for a masonry specialist who can lime wash an exposed chimney breast in our loft conversion which is currently taking place. I'm not looking to hear of general tradesman but a specialist who has experience in this field and can send examples of previous work undertaken. Specifically we're trying to create a finish similar to the attached picture. Thanks for your help.
  8. We'd appreciate any recommendations for a landscape gardener to undertake a job of replacing decking, removing some flower beds & paving slabs and laying fake grass. So basically an entire garden makeover! The garden has rear access so no need to carry stuff through a house. Cheers
  9. A bit further out but Pedham Place golf club near Swanley (i'd describe it as an inland links) or Birchwood Park golf club near Ruxley. Both very good. That failing save on travel costs and just play at D&S - twilight golf is a bit cheaper or find a member to play with and the green fees drop to ?30 i think.
  10. We complained to Virgin this morning who confirmed that there is indeed a problem with the wires in the area which won't be fixed until "the end of March". They offered a 50% reduction on our ?25 per month BB charge until then (so ?25 in total) so we then pushed for a retrospective refund to cover prior periods of poor service and were offered 3 months worth (so an additional ?37.50) payable immediately. Worth a 10 minute phone call.
  11. Just noticed that 2 houses around the ?1.5m mark have gone up for sale post Brexit on our road (Holmdene Avenue) to add to the one that was already on the market. This is very unusual as historically we see just 1 house a year come up for sale on this road. Perhaps it's just coincidental timing with Brexit or perhaps they foresee dark clouds ahead and are rushing to pull the rip cord?!? A garden flat originally listed early April, and sold in May, is also back on the market having, I assume, fallen though.
  12. I'd be interested to hear some informed views on the Dulwich housing market post Brexit. Sure, estate agents will tell you it's business as usual but i'd like to know what's REALLY going on in the market. Has anyone reading this forum withdrawn an offer or reduced it as a result of Brexit? Are developers offering big incentives on new builds? Or are we seeing foreigners take advantage of the weak pound and buying up stock? Any estate agents on here willing to give a REAL view under the cover of anonymity?
  13. A tree has just been blown over on Holmdene Avenue. I thought I'd warn everyone because the tree appeared healthy but clearly the attached pictures reveal otherwise. The tree is/was 75% rotten at the base. Thankfully the only damage done was to the side of a car but had someone been walking past it could have been nasty. Southwark council have an environmental/tree dept so if in doubt give them a ring and get them to check the trees near to you.
  14. Just a quick post to flag the great work of Michael555 and team who painted one of our bedrooms on Holmdene avenue. I've never seen walls so flat and smooth! His mob is 07908827255. Steve
  15. Hi,I have a similar problem at the moment with some paint I've scraped off above a fire place after the chimney breast leaked. I'm looking into getting a plaster to come round and skim the whole patch rather than trying to smooth the edges. Might be a solution?? Good luck.
  16. Hello - can anyone recommend (or handymen feel free to PM me direct) someone to Thomsons-Water-Seal the rear Chimney stack on my roof. I've already got scaffolding up the front of the house post some decorating work so access isn't a problem. Although they would need their own ladder to get access to the outward facing part of the stack. Many thanks
