  1. hi - I agree it's so important to be careful. I set this out quite badly! In this instance it's our 26 yr old cleaner who wants to bring her best friend over to live with her. Our cleaner doesn't have a spare room so a sponsor application from her would fail. Nor do we have a spare room. So her friend Maria needs a formal sponsor to get here, but clearly she would rather live with her best friend than with a stranger family. Especially as she speaks no English. I don't know if that arrangement constitutes immigration fraud or not, but it feels reasonable to me.
  2. Hi, thanks for the question and the helpful website. In answer to your question, the girl who is happy to have her in the house is her best friend, another 26 year old Ukrainian. She can't be a sponsor because she doesn't a spare bedroom. She's desperate to get her best friend to the UK and so I'm keen to help in any way I can.
  3. Hi everyone, a friend is looking for a sponsor for a 26 year old girl called Maria, who is a Ukrainian currently in Poland. In fact, Maria does not need a bedroom, as she will stay with my friend. However, the form requires sponsors to say they have a spare room (and I understand that the council checks these rooms - though whether they actually have the resources to do so I do not know). We would like to be her sponsor but we can't as it is obvious that our house has no spare bedroom. Is anyone able to be Maria's sponsor? It is not a normal sponsorship request because Maria would not actually need to live with you. Maria is very friendly, very fun, she likes jokes and is very open. Her English is not great but she is always finding ways to express herself anyway. She likes running, reading books, visiting new museums and making fun plans. It would be so good if we could help her. Here is the Govt guidance: [www.gov.uk] Thanks! Pm me if you can help or might know someone who can

  6. Hi all, Last chance (objections to be lodged by Wednesday) to stop the Rye being boarded up for 19 days this year to house the festival. Lots of divergent views around but headline point: people will be shut out of a huge part of the park from 23rd May to 10 June. It's hugely damaging to the park (scars the grass for the entire summer and beyond), the wildlife (nesting birds) and keeps residents out of a public space for 19 days (set up and de-rig are done behind 6ft hoarding) so that a privately owned events company (based in Birmingham) can profit. After the 2 years we've had, surely people of all ages should be out enjoying the park - not fenced out of it in the name of private profit. If you want to object you need, by this Wednesday, to : 1. Email the Council [email protected] 2. Give your full name, address and email (a signature is only required if you're writing to us, also include your email on the letter) 3. the date you wrote the letter or email 4. the application that you're opposed to (876833 We Are The Fair Limited) 5. the reasons why you're opposed to the application which should fall in these categories a) prevention of crime and disorder b) prevention of public nuisance c) public safety d) protection of children from harm. If you're in favour of the festival - no problem! I like the actual festival happening, just not the too extensive set up and the huge damage after. Thanks ps moderator really sorry if not ok to post here.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear this, it must have been horribly traumatic for you and for your son. Thank you for sharing it.
  12. and another recommendation! I needed a plumber urgently to help my dad who lives on his own and is 80. They were able to go to his flat within 2 hours of my call and totally saved the day for us. I could not have been more grateful. Apparently they were also so nice and helpful and overcame a tricky problem.
  13. Thank you very much for taking the time, I so appreciate it.
  14. Hello, we've just been offered a place at Dulwich Hamlets for our 7 year old girl, whose primary school finishes at the end of this year 2. We know nothing about Dulwich Hamlets, and can't visit, and must reply by Monday! Any advice? Would so appreciate whatever information people have. Thanks!
