I wanted to give a recommendation for Niko (who does plumbing as well as general household repairs.) He promptly came to unblock a shared drain in my first floor flat which could have caused flooding if it had not been attended to quickly (this has happened in the past). It was quite a big job as the the blocked drain is hard to access and was originally fitted with only a shallow incline which causes blockages every few years. Niko had to access other flats in the building to complete the job and politely kept all the neighbours informed and gave advice on avoiding the problem in the future. A few years ago Niko also repaired a leaking pipe and replaced the sealant around the kitchen sink which is still looking good! He has also done repairs for other flats in the building. I would like to recommend Dave from Down the Drain local plumbers (Tel: 020 8314 5244 Email: [email protected]) He came to fix a drain blockage in the first floor flat of a converted building and checked the neighbouring flats too, to locate the source of the problem. Dave is punctual, knowledgable and soon unblocked the drain and stopped the leak. Many thanks Dave!

This morning the flat below me awoke to a collapsed ceiling due to a leak from my bathroom on the 1st floor. I got Marc Hyde's number from the forum website and although Marc was booked up today he asked his father Graham to come and help us out. Graham came promptly, was sympathetic and worked solidly until he had fixed 2 problems with our cistern and the adjoining pipework. He also gave sound advice on how to proceed with the collapsed ceiling below. The bill was also very reasonable. Really could not have asked for a more efficient and courteous service. Have damp patches on an exterior wall and one has also appeared on an internal wall on the chimney breast area. Am assuming that I need to get the wall re-pointed - any recommendations appreciated. Thank you Michele
