More important things than tons of metal and glass playing chicken on residential roads? Really? I would hope dangerously bad local driving habits would be taken more seriously. If the level of important things has tomato sauce puns and hedgehog sightings near the top, then i'm clearly expecting far too much from this forum. (Not anti hedgehogs by the way, love the little buggers!) And thanks Family Room Moderator, will take your advice. Not trying to kick up a stink, just ken to know their reasoning.

the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > maybe because this isnt a specifically E Dulwich > Issue? Fair point, but I intended it to be a specific ED issue, as I posted it on the ED forum and used the phrase 'local roads'. But I shall be even more explicit in future. Have emailed the mods, waiting for a response...

I know I know, just a little confused as to what the mods see as general discussion and lounge material. Obviously terrible puns are more worthy than quesioning local road safety... (Mods - still waiting for an explaination by the way?)

> From his moniker I guess Panda Boy is a cop - Nope, not a cop! (Good guess though.) If I was i'd probably be able to pull people over and explain to them that accelerating down the middle of the road in a built up area isn't really a very good idea. Just royally p*ssed at the way some people drive round here; selfish, dangerous and just downright bloody rude. Think the humps, and more like them are here to stay unfortunately so its down to us to adapt to them. (Now i'm annoyed that the mods have moved this thread to the lounge after I posted it in the general section. Obviously the sighting of a hedgehog in a garden, or an incredibly tedious bad pun filled thread about tomato sauce are more worthy topics in the general section than trying to highlight bad driving habits in the local area. Thanks mods, nice one, still waiting for an explaination for this by the way...?)

Evening all... Any ideas how to stop people from driving down the middle of the local roads so they can try and straddle the multiple speed cushions that are around? Roads that used to comfortably accomodate 2 cars travelling in opposite directions now become a game of chicken with drivers pulling out and accelerating to try and get their wheels either side of the bumps. Its dangerous and bloody annoying. (The only amusing note is that its far better for your suspension to take the bumps head on, (what with it being designed to go up and down,) rather than try and straddle them, which forces the wheels into a position theyre not designed to be in.)

Dangerous junction ( Peckham Rye and East Dulwich Road)
panda boy replied to el-torcho's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
DJKillaQueen, couldn't sgree more with your post. It's simply unnaceptable that such a dangerous junction can be left in it's disfunctional state for so long without positive action. Especially considering the amount of near misses and the recent death. So tired of hearing excuses from the council in the form of 'consultancy', 'pending approval', 'olympics' etc... Maybe after the next inevitible accident the person or people responsible can be tried for corporate manslaughter for their lack of action? May make them take their responsibilities little more seriously. -
Dangerous junction ( Peckham Rye and East Dulwich Road)
panda boy replied to el-torcho's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Renata, There must be a way of fast tracking the 'awaiting approval' process you describe. This is a dangerous junction, full stop. Something has to happen to reduce the risks. It is simply unbelievable there have been accidents and deaths at this junction and action is still waiting approval. Unbelievable inaction from the council on this. -
Council to destroy wood in East Dulwich
panda boy replied to edborders's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for highlighting this edborders. I live opposite the cemetary and would be horrified if they rip up the woods. I can't quite understand how, despite living opposite, i've recieved no official word of this. Does anyone have any experience of how to deal with the council on this kind of thing? I personally, and the wide variety of wildlife that lives there, would be devastated if this went ahead. -
Lordship Lane street party for Royal Wedding?
panda boy replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
> Well count me out. Warmongering politicians rely > on people making that separation to continue their > wars. Consider yourself counted out then, but it seems pretty simplistic to state that by supporting soldiers implies that one supports the political decisions to go to, or continue to go to war. And I don't think that politicians actually rely on public support to go to war anymore, (e.g. over 1 million people marching in London against a war that went on regardless,) they have the media for that. (Admittedly slightly off topic (sorry!) but i found it hard to take BrandNewGuys comments without responding. > Back to the point of the thread, Couldn't agree more... -
Lordship Lane street party for Royal Wedding?
panda boy replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
> No thank you. Militaristic flag-waving is more > offensive than the irritation of the Royal Family. Not half as offensive as i find this statement though BrandNewGuy. Being able to separate politics from the bravery of troops putting themselves in harms way, i feel, (if we can actually afford a street party of any kind,) that this is a fine idea... -
And we must be able to do something about the smell, and the smelly people who wander around and make the place look untidy. In this age of modern technology the council must be able to organise a crop duster full of febreze to spray the high street every day? Oh, and each lamp post could be fitted with an atomiser that releases chanel no5 and timed intervals... Sigh, hopefully this thread is a wind up...

Had a couple of badges poorly removed from my car one night recently. Obviously they were not pros, as they destroyed 1 trying to get it off. They did leave me with some lovely scratches to the bodywork though... Funnily enough i was very calm and pragmatic after 2 x full sets of hubcaps were nicked a few years ago, (just didn't bother to replace them,) but for some reason i feel particularly angry about someone damaging my car in trying unsuccessfully remove 2 little bits of plastic.

East Dulwich proposed speed bumps - any views?
panda boy replied to johnrich's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Big fat no to more speed bumps, especially the 'cushion' type. They encourage people to drive down the middle of the road resulting in an increase in dangerous driving, (i.e. people speeding up to make a gap in the parked cars,) and an increase in hit and run damage to parked cars. Have seen and been subject to this several times. Total bloody pointless waste of time... -
