  1. Yesterday, whilst cars were being diverted due to the resurfacing of Peckham Rye the road was like an ice rink. My car slid but a car looked like it had gone into the back of a coach outside the School. That water has been gushing for at least a week. Worth contacting the School as I'm sure it has caused problems for teachers and parents. The cold snap has made that section very dangerous especially as it is a bend and slight gradient. Hope your successful with your claim.
  2. I?m not a frequent user of the ED forum, I lost my cat once and potsed and also made a few other posts but don?t much frequent the forum (like that?s relevant, but you never know). But I have been so upset about the results of the referendum that I wanted to say I am a born and bred Londoner. I went to a local comprehensive School in the 70?s. I remember the National Front and as a young person in late 70?s and early 80?s campaigned against the hate and ignorance. The NF disappeared, but the hate filled sentiments as it would seem have not (going on national reports) and thought/hoped that those grim days were behind us. My partner is Jamaican second generation, I am proud of my families multi-cultural ties (my nieces are both married to non UK partners) and I have many friends from different cultural backgrounds, religions, beliefs and countries. The thought that this ignorant attitude still prevails is saddening and sickening. I thought we had an education system that educate the ignorant and taught tolerance and Respect, but sadly no. Parents are the primary educators. I was on a 343 at midday today. There were two white women sat in front of me with a young mixed race child in a buggy. This is the conversation. ?Does she go to nursery?? ?No? ?But isn?t there some free funding I?ve heard about so you get some child care for nothing? ?I don?t know, I think her mum applied but didn?t meet the criteria? ?What criteria?? ?I don?t know, she?s not got any disability or special needs. She?s not Muslim or nothing? ?And they wonder why we?re racist? I was shocked at what I heard. I wanted to say something and wish I had (I chickened it) but thought you stupid, stupid. Ignorant idiots. What is happening? Are people so ignorant? Have we gone back 40 years? Personally I don't think we have. I think we moved on but maybe not that much. Which is so sad. NB; Anyone can access the criteria for funded places on local Government websites which absolutely does not refer to anything more than eligibility based on income etc., and not race, religion, culture etc.Just in case said Women are reading ED forum.
  3. I really hope that they catch this unhinged individual or individuals as soon as possible and they get the help or punishment they deserve or need. As an animal lover and owner of three cats I just wanted to say that I have always enjoyed the joy our cats have brought to our family. Part of our joy is watching them enjoying running up trees, rolling on the door step, sunning themselves on the neighbours shed and enjoying the great outdoors. Two of my cats came from Celia Hammond and they vetted us prior to us taking two of our three cats. They were very adamant that they should be allowed out at will. We spent a small fortune (for us) installing a cat flap that allowed them out and only them in and that they are free enjoy to their right to go out and in. I have had these two for seven years. Keeping them in at night is really hard. I have tried but they howl at the front and back door. I have a cat litter tray for my third cat who doesn?t go out and have brought another two so they have one each but it?s a really difficult balance between protection and freedom. I have a real dilemma as to how best to protect my cats whilst not treating them as prisoners. I am sure there are other cat owners that have the same conflicts. My cats are well fed each day (shouldn?t be tempted by food traps) and generally timid of strangers, no guarantee that they won?t become victims though but hope that the monster is caught soon.
  4. I had a lovely pedicure last Friday. Hayley was lovely, very punctual, professional and reasonably priced. I will definitely be getting her to come back. Sally
  5. Hi Jane. I need a cat boarding. I have sent a pm. Regards Sally
  6. Thank you EDF as I called Norwood roofing last week to give me a quote for some guttering and brick work to be repaired/replaced. They came round on the same day, gave a very competitive quote and came back today to do the work. Punctual, clean, tidy and a good job done. I was very concerned that the brick work would fall down and cause someone an injury but it has all been repaired and I now have my piece of mind back. Thank you again Norwood roofing. Regards Sally
